Renata Tebaldi, Verdi, Requiem, Libera me Domine (Milano, live, 1951) 

Una partitura terribile e insidiosa se la si esegue come Verdi voleva. Il soprano qui deve rappresentare le fiamme del giudizio universale ma allo stesso tempo la richiesta di perdono umanissima e tenera. Difficile perché (quasi) servono 2 soprano un lirico spinto con una grande massa vocale e armonici e nella parte centrale un lirico puro capace di grandi arcate in pianissimo, di legati che devono essere aerei per poi d’improvviso aprire nuovamente alle fiamme terribili. Tutto questo senza mai dimenticare che si sta pregando nel più alto dei modi. Qui Renata è entrambe le cose in maniera assolutamente ineguagliabile.

@@bodiloto maestro sono onorato delle sue parole. La mia insegnante il mezzosoprano Mirna Pecile mi ripeteva sempre : cantare non basta, bisogna interpretare. Aggiungo io bisogna vivere la partitura.

@@williesullivan3985 Tebaldi's art was based in the ability to sing from middle C to top C without changing the quality of her voice. So please don't write idiotic messages williesullivan3985. Tebaldi's C is perfect in steadiness, color, projection, and vibration. All the other sopranos change their voices when they go high, Cerquetti's Bs and Cs are out of body, the same Caniglia. Milanov's high notes are clear and have nothing to do with her middle, Price's high notes are threadlike, the higher Price goes the narrowere and samller her voice becomes, Caballe's high notes in forte are unpleasant, strident and clear in color. Callas's high notes are forced, sharop, strident and not firm.
