Magnifique restauration .
When I was 18 back in 1969, I occasionally cut class with a friend who had just bought a new 10. ( who among my peers then would own such a car?) I loved that thing. So unlike any American car. Great seats. Rack and pinion steering--great. Michelin X tires--great.
I was born in 1969 :) and I was attracted to US cars from day one (living in Germany). So unlike any european car. Fast, reliable, lots of room and easy to work on. Even today my, very first car, bought in 1988, a 1960 Fury coupe runs circles around most of the new cars with almost 600 000(!) KM on the clock. My point is, I never undestood Americans into european cars. I'm car mechanic btw. I love that Renault, but hey, get into a big block powered unit body car from Chrysler and you know the difference.
This restoration is close to perfection, my first car was a R10 1300 which was blue "Gauloise" like the cigarette packs, I was very happy with this car and I have made a lot of trips through France, thank you for this share.
I had several of these circa 1978. Great cars but the clutch would go on a regular basis. Could start with the starting handle which doubled as the jack handle if I remember. Brought one for my girlfriend with shot clutch and 4 rusty wings, managed to drive it 20 miles in 3rd gear only. She took one look at it and said "I'm not driving that thing". I bolted on 4 replacement wings, brought a few cans of white spay and changed the clutch. I couldn't get her out of it. She took her friends all around Dartmoor in it with no problems.Peter Crane
My first car. Very smooth compared to cars of similar size around it and great for the 1,100km drive to my home town in outback Australia, with plush seats, a smooth ride and light, direct steering. Could use more power, of course, and don't stomp too hard on the brakes in the wet, or you'll have no steering at all.
I had 3 of these cars and loved them. 2 stick models and 1 push button automatic. Amazed by the gas mileage, even in 1972. Am always looking for one and would buy another if I found it here in the Northeast USA.
My first car was an R8! Bought it for $50 with a bad transmission, got an entire rear subframe (transaxle, rear axles, etc.) from a wrecker, and had it on the road for $225 total. This was in the early '70's. I got 35mpg, and gas was 35 cents a gallon at the time. Lovely little car- very fun to invoke wild oversteer in the wet, thanks to the ancient, very hard Michelin X's.
The Renault 10 was quite a curious car, it was just a longer Renault 8 with longer front and back (with useless longer back), but the same middle section ! One of my brothers had one, Il remember installing a radio for him...
The first car I owned was a '63 Caravelle S, late enough in production to have received the R8's brand new 956cc four cylinder. A joy to drive, and if I'm not mistaken the first to introduce 4-wheel disc brakes on a mainstream car.
Bonjour.
Lol !
Try driving one on to a 3 decker rail car as a teenager in South Florida that's was one of my jobs I did working for Renault south-east in ft Lauderdale fun times !!!
My first car! I made out with my girlfriend while parked on a grassy lawn and, somehow, the parking brake gave way. The car slid backwards into a ditch. We hurriedly clambered out to lift it out of the ditch. Fortunately, the R10 wasn't heavy. We pulled it out and made our way back to class in time!
my father had one of these. he put steel weights in the front boot to hold the front down on the motorway! great car but rusted badly on our scottish roads.
Absolument vrai !
I have a pair of new lamps (rear lamp windows) oem SEIMA made in France. They are bought in 1969 from the store and I keep them in the original packaging
