@@tomsrensen3906 They look like Corvette wheels. I've seen a few on VW's but never on a 5. However he did say they were Alpine wheels, look like from the GTA, minus the centre caps.
I hope you keep this channel going I only found you a few months back but I’ve gone back and watched all your videos love the content. You’re clearly very talented and your taste in cars is excellent too. Keep it up 💪🏼
I wanted a turbo raider, as clio was on it's way and could get a good real as my wife's boss was a fleet customer. She put the brakes on that, we were soon divorced and I bought a 205 GTi.
Good to see you back been looking and waiting patiently 👌 great humour and content & a lovely r5 saw a white one doing the NC 500 last week jaw dropped Mrs says you alright 😅
Looks like it's going to make a great motor for someone. I'm a geek and check the MOT history and it looks like this car has had a couple of periods of being off the road which will most likely be the reason the mileage is so low. Love it ❤
Yes I suppose it’s one of those, worth not much a few years back so not repaired and kept off the road. Now the more the car goes up in price the more people want to look after them 👍
Mileage is so low, if you look back at the mot history it doesn't go up for 5 tests, because the odometer cable snaps on them at about 80k miles so the mileage doesn't go up, zero miles in five years. They all do it. So unless it lived next door to the mot centre, the mileage is incorrect.
Brilliant. Brings back the days many years ago when I had one. Wheel bearings, clutch cables, doors opening themselves, water puddles on floor, only to mention a few issues. Despite all of this I loved it. Sold for 1200, so there you go. Probably worth bit more these days. Thanks for doing the video. It’s good to see around one again.
First time viewer and now subscriber. Great video and I'm now going back through your previous ones too. Back to the Renault, what an iconic hot hatch but man, those electrics and also, who worked on those brakes before you?!? Great to see it done right! 👍
It was only cosmetically different to the other GT Turbos. Nothing was mechanically different. Saying that all GT Turbos were awesome anyway. I had a Pearl white one in the 90s. Was brilliant to drive🥳 until it caught fire. ☹️
corret and id say the removal of the anti perc fan thats not good i had a simmiar issue when id smelt a burning smell.i had the same problem with the reserve tank as well as in this video @@GR666
My girlfriend had one back in the day. Sadly, it was a rough one. No, not the girlfriend . She's now the wife !!. Would love another.....Ren 5 that is. Wheels look great . Good work Paul as ever 👍
“Just takes you back 20 years to how cars used to be” I’ll think you’ll find that’s 34 years Paul 😂 I’m the same I still keep trying to convince myself the 80s we’re only 20 years ago!
Takes me back to the 90s. Mates brother had a slammed blue R5 turbo with blue neons underneath and a sound system worth more than the car. At 17 I thought it was the best thing I'd ever seen
I dearly miss my GT Turbo, 1990 G plate, black, slammed sitting on Azev A wheels, clio 16v bonnet, Tarmac rear spoiler, highly modified by GT Tuning. 204bhp at the wheels, 13 second 1/4mile car, truly amazing experience to drive or even be a passenger in! If anybody knows the whereabouts of this car , please get in contact with me, Reg G182VBU. I would love to purchase it back again, or just to see what condition its in now. Many Thanks Jon
"takes me back 20 yrs" nah, try 33... [ scary, aint it ] bad buggers to start when hot, sure they had a fan wrapped around the carb keep the excellent work up young man
I had a Raider, I drove it flat-out everywhere in the late 90s, great memories! This one is in beautiful original condition. So many got Barried, such a shame
Not surprised those wheel bearings are knackered. Those wheels don't look anywhere close to being the correct offset for the car. I had mine from 96 to 05, still miss it every day.
I had a 5 tubs, my fav driving car of all time. It was on rails. Loved it until the neighbour 2 doors down (engineer/mechanic) turbo'd his Renault 5 1.7 GTS.........bah
Those cute 😡 🥜 are gaining value, rightfully so. It's amazing to me that people hoard bling bling stuff they won't even get even with budget wise & they sell those unassuming jewels that imo can only appreciate...
I had a beautiful pearl white one bought from yes Gary Kemp in 1986 ,greatest fun car I've ever owned ,I could write a story on love it !GATE13SW6CREWCFC cfc
sold mine in 1998 for 2.5k 44k on clock other than starter motor over run it was mint 1989 phase 2, gutted is not the word now, its the same as anyone selling there hot hatches back then in fact we were all dam gutted then got drunk lol
Bolts going MIA, always surprises me. Somewhere some mechanic has finished the job while being left with surplus bolts. Don’t they wonder where they came from? Or is it just such poor workmanship that they don’t care?
My cousin had a phase 2 R5GTT on an old F Reg for over 20years, sold it 3years ago. Boosted to 250bhp race prepped beast! Got £7K for it unfortunately.
Why can’t Renault make cult cars anymore like the Clio v6 and Renault 5 gt turbo. Even the avantime although a sales flop was amazingly original. Pity we live in a world now where everything is about playing safe wish there was more risk taking with the hierarchy at Renault, gives us what our heart wants again.
Lovely looking car that, saw many of these ragged senseless down Southend Sea front in the late 90's early 2000's. Id love one, but wouldnt have the skills to maintain it.
The raider was not the last edition. Raiders came out in 90. But in 91, you could get only white or grey models, on H or J plates. I had a 91 H in white. Raiders are normally on a G
In my country It was called a blue sports edition. My first car a fire engine red Renault 5 1.7 gtx. I maintained it so good it got up to 500k before dying of old age.
Like number 667 glad im not the beast,,, good vid man dont give up tube you have 25k subs who want (need) more content even the ones you might think maybe a bit boring lol i know you really dont think that, all content is good
Amazing looking car. I guess they dont use salt on the roads where this car drives? :) I would love to have one of these cars. Those rims looks so good on it.
I welded a good few of these back in the day, so to find one nowadays In good nick must mean it's been well looked after all these years... smashing looking car. 👌
the clutch would break. not exactly clutch the wire would go around some plastic cog piece above the clutch peddle it would break regularly and you have to start car up in gear to get it home lol
It handled fantastic ,and overtaking cars was a blast drop from 3rd to 2nd and just smile and body popping laughing while I blast past 3 cars no speed bumps back in the day the fun I had in this car in London was gentle my REG was C738ULW.
Gorgeous cars, I absolutely love these, I was in love with them when I was a young kid, still are. I am a VW guy through and through but this will remain my true love. Thank you for this video, beautiful example.
Had a grey 89 gt turbo when I was 18, back in the day when insurance want crazy. Great little car, had the boost wound up a bit, intercooler strapped and a scorpion exhaust. Wish I could of kept a lot of the cars I've owned!!
Had one back in 1989! miss it like cracy. 54 years now and looking for another one! just for the summer months. the rear calipers don´t like the snow! they freeze up on the disc.
I used the have a Renault 5 Gordinin Turbo back in the 80's,iwhen the GT Turbo came out it wasn't as nice inside as the Gordini, lot's of plastic but i think that was done not only for cost but for lightness. There was one advertised on ebay about 5 years ago exactly the same as mine and in the description the guy said " the best fun you will have with 110 hp" and i can definitely vouch for that . Both very fast hot hatches at that time and so glad i had one.
