Renault Clio Bad Earth Ground - Fog Light

A very good shot at this problem using the 'scattergun' method! My contribution, is that after a mechanic bought some parts, and all the sorts of earthing stuff you did, I solved the SPECIFIC fault that these cars have that causes this 'faint glowing' of bulbs. FIRST the solution then the explanation: see the bit -- AT 1.43 -- where you show the prongs sticking out of the bulb mounting piece of plastic moulding (white on yours it seems)? Those multiple prongs in a row - take a long-nosed pair of pliers, carefully twist each prong AT THE END or DOWN TO HALFWAY maximum, a couple of degrees. This makes better contact, because it is this that is the actual fault. I have electronics engineering experience and training, and did the necessary fault-finding to get to this fix. It MAY be that your particular situation is different, but it looks awfully similar to what I had on our little Clio. Ok now the theory................................................................................................................................................................The glowing of the lights as a group, the fog light indicator inside glimmering when you apply the brakes and so on, it's because there is a bad connection at the rear light cluster(s) and the fix I advised above, stops this thing from happening - a small amount of current BACK-feeds along the circuits when the connections are poor. After examining th circuit diagrams, and so on, that was how I traced the fault to the cluster connector blocks, and the fix of twisting those prongs very slightly, is the practical implementation of the cure. Yes, you gave it a good 'scattergun' shot - but to expect joe soap to do the fault-finding I did, is probably a bit much. The mechanic couldn't and so spent money he did not need to (ours). Please share my fix, to save others frustration, and some time - by all means they should proceed further if the specific fix I give is not working, but it seems likely in most cases, we can save them some time. Thanks however, for laying out all the earthing routes etc, worth a bash if the specific fix and theory from my problems, do not apply to some other people.

Thank you for the video. My (likely)bad earth problem on my Renault Megane II(2004) is that there are lights on the dashboard half lit; most prominently the ABS one(at about 70% of maximum light intensity) in spite of there not being any real ABS issue on the car. Still gotta get it removed to pass inspection. Other lights that glow softly on the dashboard is the front foglight . Ive heard that it all is likely due to bad earth. You got any advice where it would be a good idea to start looking for the bad earthing in this case to rectify the problem? Thanks in advance

Great video. Thanks i now what to look for as my lamp at the dashboard is illuminate the dahboard when pressing the brake pedal or turn on the turnsignal. Only on one side so maybe it's the ground contact. Will take a look tomorrow. Could some grease be used for protecting the contacts. If now only one would post a video how to fix the electronic steering problem :)

Hi good video you had uploaded. I have to same issue , but my car is the 2007 megane cc. Only 1 rear fog light working , and break light flickers when indicating. Christmas tree to be percious. Checked clusters , seem rusty. Will try twisting the pins , like the advice from the other guy.
