I one morning had water in the footwell of my Renault Grand scenic mk.lll. This video is to show how I drained it. and I hope this can help other people out as well Un edited, sorry.
Thanks for this. Saved us a garage bill. It was so satisfying when the water poured out underneath. Now to dry out the car (I'm just happy it happened in the summer for us, drying it out in the winter would be even more of a pain).
Thanks Jesper, carried out this fix on my 12 Grand Scenic today as both my storage compartments in the driver's and passenger's foot well were both full of water. Also my vents were making a strange whistling sound and my fan control was starting to play up. I am confident that this will fix all of these problems. Thanks again. :)
Thanks for this, sorted mine by reaching in behind the wheel arch to clear the drainage hole (probably a more short term/amateur approach) but this video was still helpful in understanding the problem.
I used a fibreglass rod from a kite - slender & flexible. Don’t forget to run lots of water through before replacing everything to ensure all the gunk is gone.
Did the same to a friends scenic 3, crazy that in 2018 we still have concerns like this. Not many faults however, I see you also have the 1,6dci it's nice to drive ;) mine is a 2011 model and didn't need to do this job, all was pretty clean.
Great thank you. I am sure it will happen to me, my wiper motors were replaced in garage. The plastic strip I can see at bottom of windshield is loose and rubber not making a seal. How is that connected back? sorry but I see you have yours off
I have same problem mine has filled thestorage tray in passenger floor but bone dry all around . Yet still got none working rear windows and handbrake issue. Hoping it can all be cured in one go.
You would think by now Renault would have come up with a solution for this, because this issue has been happening since 2003! Be very careful with those wiper motors, as they are around £700 from Renault, and there are no aftermarket alternatives!
Hi Jesper, Great video. I've just completed this job following your approach. Success! Scuttle drains now clear on both sides. Thanks. However, I'm wondering if rear footwell dried out completely? The insulation below the carpet is absolutely soaking. Do you think that the blocked scuttle drain was causing this problem? Cheers
On my car, i had around 3 to 4 centimeter og water. And I removed the seats, put elektrical heater in the car, plus a machine to remove water from the air. Had them running for days. But it did the job.
Had the same issue and fixed it by your advice. Thank you very much!! Did you recognize if there are the same plugs in the wheel housing preventing the water to flow freely like in the previous Grand Scenic (see here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-x4gf3yG_YXk.html)? It seems that dirt stucks because these plugs are damming the water so it can't flush away.
You are correct, there are some walves. And it is for your security. If they was not there, you could risk sucking exhaust fumes into the cabin. I am glad it helped you. I am still surprised how many people this video has reached. My thought was perhaps 10 would find it lol. ;-)
