This week on the DoneDeal RU-vid channel we're reviewing the all-new and fully electric Renault Megane E-Tech. With two battery sizes, it suits many peoples requirements and budgets. It is also arguably one of the best looking EVs on the market right now.
Surprisingly it weighs roughly 500kg less than most other electric cars in the segment making it more efficient, and engaging to drive. It's also front wheel drive which gives it a very 'hot hatch' feel when driving on backroads.
It's got more tech than you could ever imagine, which include adaptive cruise control, lane assist, blind spot monitoring and more.
The Megane E-Tech looks great, drive brilliantly and really is the full package. We can only imagine we will see plenty on Irish roads over the coming years.
Thanks for watching.

I just got mine a week ago and it is awesome (EV60 Optimum with advanced vision pack and heatpump, in white). By -4°c I did 200km on the highway at 130km/h, air conditioner at 19°C. Battery from 96% to 15%. Which is not bad at all (considering it was my day one of use).

The UK only gets one battery option and the 9” infotainment screen, but… I think a big advantage of the Megane is that it can charge at up to 22kW on AC charging, which is pretty unique for an EV. The 20” wheels look 👌🏽 Good informative review as always. 👍🏽

22kW 3 phase charging is what made the Renault Zoe for a decade now. It's underrated how useful it is, because everyone is lining up for the DC rapids.

We all know if you had the choice of a Megane 2 Trophy or this… 😮 Great review Dave as per usual ♦️

You said the heat pump preconditions the battery. That’s not strictly right. As standard car doesn’t have heatpump (can’t even be optioned in some markets) but still is able to precondition battery. No big screens in RHD markets.

A superb review.....Well done! I've just ordered the Top-of the -Range Iconic model (with that excellent Heat Pump). It was a straight choice between a Tesla Model 3 or the Megane, both were the same price.....No contest! The sterile, poor build quality, horrid interior, ugly Tesla is so dated compared to the Renault. It's tech is so 'yesterday'. Brilliant move by Renault going to the experts, Google! By the way, Renault say the 0-60 time is 7.5 Sec, but independent reviewers have clocked it at 6.9 Sec (that's Mini Cooper S territory, but with that lovely instant torque).......how typically French, underplaying!

40 kwh is pretty measly. Leaf from years ago has that and that currently starts at 30,000ish? MG4 has 50kwh and starts at 27,000. I'm not sure those looks and some minor extras are worth 10,000 considering that battery.

Then all your rhetoric does is perpetuate the arms race for bigger batteries that don't get used. Heavier and more expensive cars that replace less diesels/petrols. 28kWh like what the original Hyundai Ioniq had was the Goldilocks ev. Range, efficiency and rapid recharging.

MG is another kettle of fish, they're Chinese, they're superior for value for money. Honestly Western markets should brace themselves because they failed to anticipate the card that people want that China builds.

I'm not sure 50kwh is of a size that won't get used. I don't drive that much and easily use that in a week. I think a battery that allows for a full week driving is reasonable. Not excessive. Above 50kwh things seem a bit much but I'm sure there are people that would need that much.

What a useless presentation. The screen is not any bigger in UK. It is in Europe. It doesn't need to support Android Google as it's built in. All meganes do not come with a heat pump. None of them do. Only an add on.
