The grandly named Renault Mégane Sport Tourer is an affordable, practical estate car. With light yet accurate steering, it drives nicely enough, but its appeal lies in the comfort offered by its smooth suspension. Choice across the range has recently been pared down, with three trims, six engines and manual or auto gearboxes. Diesels are best, and all but the cheapest 1.5 dCi 86 have enough pulling power, which is useful when the boot is full of luggage. Sporty GT Line models look smart and are more fun to drive, but the stiffer suspension spoils its appeal as a family car.

Its a very underrated car. Especially this GT-line model which has some of the best seats (big, comfy and huge side bolsters) you can find in any car anywhere near the price, has a great hydraulic steering like on the RS models, has RS rear suspension and overall sporty chassis, which makes it handle and drive better than any car in the segment, same as the RS drives better than any other hot hatch. Interior is great in person, its quiet, comfortable, has great engines and gearboxes, looks good.

I've got e 2015 Sport Tourer, with panoramic sunroof - I'm 6ft and can sit comfortably in the back, no idea what they're complaining about with rear leg and head room! There's also two small storage compartments under the footwell mats - doesn't make up for the ridiculously small glovebox, but they'll take smaller items and free up glovebox space (great for valuables, too)

I know! Especially when he reviewed the Toyota Yaris- he made the drivers seat look so easy to get comfortable in. I thought "oh he's a similar height to me, that must mean I fit" My chiropractor has happy dreams of me buying such a car

It's harder and harder to find cars with a flat load floor. I think this is one of the car's assets. Seems like a worthy contender.

Most likely. Do you drive on the left side? Cause here we do and the glovebox is heaps bigger than that.

Have one just like that, with the 1.6 diesel engine. It has a great and very quiet engine, it also has great looks, and in the left hand drive version the glove box compartment is much bigger... (!!! how come you'd ask, but it's true!). Nevertheless it has some drawbacks: cup holder, position of the cruise control activation button, radio controls on the steering wheel control less than they should, rain sensors don't work so well, automatic high beams also. But I like the car anyway :)

Yes, it's the left side. Why didnt she tell about the practical heigh adjustments of the boot floor? That would be important because, i think, nobody knows about that.

I would really love to see how children pushchairs fit in the family cars you review (not espacially this car, just in general). It would be nice if you could consider doing that in the future. greeting from a father of a 4 month old, looking for a family car :-)

I don't know why she is complaining about the cup-holders. Apparently she has never been in a MK3 Golf/Jetta (Vento depending on where your from) lol. They aren't cup-holders in those cars they are change holders.

Agree, I've just driven 1200 miles at a speed of 65-75mph on motorway and it was telling me average 51mpg.

Sure.! up to the level of an Audi A3 from 1998 with 6 previous owners perhaps.. My brother has one, thrust me.. it's shit! But for the price it's okay i guess.
