This vehicle really seems to fill a large and growing niche. This could absolutely replace most second cars. I do wonder about the suspension; is it up to the challenge of 40 MPH on typical roads? As a retiree who does nearly 100% of my driving within 20 miles of home, this would be perfect for me for shopping, errands, doctor visits etc. So much better than a golf cart or GEM car (NEV/LSV). I'd buy one in a heartbeat if I could get it here in the U.S.
The good thing about leasing batteries though, is that the battery will pe replaced if the effect drops below 75%. And replacing batteries is expensive so if you drive it regulary you will probably end up earning money! :)
Mr Fisher In some countries you can buy thee batteries and not rent them. Renault expect the batteries to last at least 10 years. So you could try to buy a Twizy without batteries and get them from Renault anyway.
I have had my Twizy for over 4.5 years and still love to drive it everyday if I have a chance. I use it to commute to work so it does get used a lot and I take it on holiday with me (on a trailer behind a Motorhome/RV). Im afraid with full doors, it's concidered a car. And then have to have so many regulations that they can't make a single penny of profit. Now it's a motorbike.
I think this needs further design ideas. Rat Rodders here in the US could make this great. Maybe make this car something young people as well as old will like. Now it looks more like a medical device. Tesla but the "Bug" of the auto world, a car for the people. Overall this is such a good idea...nice job!
Why can't I buy one in the U.S.? Safety cannot be a logical excuse bc I can buy a two-wheeler and become a potential organ donor, but this four-wheeler is not considered safe? I am now looking at the Arcimoto, but I really like the Twizy much better.
I'm not interested because there's no way I am buying one that I have to lease the batteries... So what if I pay completely for the car but refuse to pay the monthly battery charge? If you take the batteries back then I guess I could go to a different EV company and have them install their batteries but again what is the 7,000 dollar price tag for if you have to pay monthly for the batteries? I know the car without the batteries isn't worth anything close to 7,000 dollars!
