We’ll show you the best and EASIEST way to render walls with sand cement render. Rendering is probably the hardest skill to learn with Plastering.
But we’ll show you the best plan to get great results even if you have no previous experience.
Don’t take me wrong, you need to practice.
But Rendering didn’t have to be gruelling. Just follow this process and you’ll be fine!
Let us know what you think by commenting below. And please like and subscribe to our channel for more up to date ways to render and plaster.

@PlasteringForBeginners hi bud do you have an alternative to white sand and cement to use for render or pebble dash, its horrible to use ever with freeflow.

Watching you enabled me to render an 80 foot wall, something I've never done before. It looks pretty good too. The problem I came across is after I combed the scratch coat some of it must have "Come forward" from the rest as it set. When it came to the top coat the scratch came through in a couple of places. Which meant I had to make the top coat a little thicker. But you are brilliant at what you do & make things much easier they way you explain things. Thank you.

tried the weberend OCR based on your recommendation and you are right, its a game changer. Just add water, sticks like bonding and sets at a good predictable rate. Very smooth, no stones and not that expensive on a small job like garden walls. Used it out doors and it rained but it still set. Sand and cement would have been washed off the walls

Perfect! I'll just add something that was really hard for me to understand when I was learning. Floating is the process that prevents the render from cracks. The circular motions swirl the render inside and you get no cracks with regular sand/lime/cement renders. With ready renders like the Weber it's really hard to get cracks, I wish I knew that before my first attempt.

If you're doing this in or around Edinburgh. Get your sand from. Thistle timber. Its well worth it. Its a pleasure to work compared to other places. Super fine almost like brown sugar, no stones and comes almost dry so its easier to pre-mix. Also its from a local quarry so a bit better for the environment and the colour matches any old mortar or render

The question is, can you achieve that textured finish with the sponge on that pre mixed pre made render? Since you were bringing the sand to the surface with the sponge.

19 years in the trade. Just done a neighbours back garden. Had am expansion joint halfway down the first gauge. Came out mega. Today me and the lad who worked for me did the exact same thing and went proper tits up! Having to go back tomorrow to re-render. Would you put it down to heat or getting on it to quick? Basically when rubbing up was bone dry on front but sliding?

@@PlasteringForBeginners oh right thanks I am a DIY trainee lol. I seen your videos on the ocr which you use & say it's great. I got a little wall to render & wanted to know best stuff to use. It's a concrete bloke wall which I will pregrit before 1st coat would you recommend the ocr or normal sand & cement. What mix would you use for scratch & 2nd coat please. Thank you mate
@PlasteringForBeginners
@PlasteringForBeginners Год назад
It's more expensive but I would use OCR mate. It's a nicer product to use, there's no worries about the mix and it's a lot more flexible. That's the one I'd use pal!

I do usually mate - stupidly left my gloves in the Power Float box which I didn’t need in this job. Only realised when it came to the floating stage which was too late. Stupid but I just didn’t pack it. Usually use the waterproof Ox Gloves. My hands felt it afterwards!
