What an amazing session this is, that A R Rehman is a genius is clear. The ability of Simi Garewal to give space, comfort and respect to the people she interviews is an admirable talent. No intimidation, no awkwardness, no provocation. If there were an Oscar award for interviews, this one would win hands down.

Give Simi an Oscar too. One of the best interviews of ARR.

He is so patriotic, calm, soulful, down to earth, shy in super cute way....still struggles to react to the compliments, immensely talented, passionate, simple, believer in the Almighty, family oriented, global.....what not....bought goosebumps

Being a huge fan of ARR, I have watched almost all of his interviews (Tamil, English ... etc). The general notion was he is a bit shy and its a bit difficult to get those "Never told, never talked about" life secrets from him. Now I realize, its probably the host who needs to make the participant feel comfortable and easy to talk to and that is exactly what Simi has done here. You are undoubtedly the most elegant, engaging conversationalist in the world. Probably being original is what makes you the best :) Thank you so much for this interview. Touched! I remember I watched this interview on star world. I have watched this interview many times and still watching in 2016. Such is the brilliance and greatness of A.R Rahman Sir. Like many Westerners, I first heard A.R. Rahman's music in "Slumdog Millionaire." I was immediately hooked! I like Bollywood movies & I really enjoy Indian/Bollywood music, and I was glad to add A.R. Rahman's works to my library. Aside from being immensely talented, he seems to be a very fine, modest person in real life. This interview was quite interesting! Glad I got to see it.

he has lots of respect for his parents ...that's the secret of his success

watching this reminded me with frustrating mothers whom I often hear worry about thier children's shyness,some were judged as failures and convicted by impatient teachers as unworthy, and I watch this shy quite man who was able to gain success at a young age despite all misfortune and unfairly prejudging Never judge a child because God might have other plans for him. fact all of us know few follow "If I meet God how will I face him!" lovely words I mostly remind myself with lovely Rendezvous.

I just saw the Karan thapar interview and since you mentioned Bombay times I realized this wasn’t much after that interview (since he doesn’t give interviews much) what a stark contrast there he was barely talking but here he spoke his innermost thoughts and I think he even spoke here more than his recent interviews he has done over the years You were honestly so therapeutic to watch no wonder AR Rahman felt so comfortable you were like a therapist..... I really don't know how AR Rahman held his tears when he talked about his struggling days, I had tears! Those people told him and his mother to beg on street, still he defends them by saying they are right! He is great musician more over greatest human being! Proud to be AR Rahman!

Rahman's music has been travelling through my life since my childhood..And this Interview I should say helped me the best to know more about him.. Being a Tamilian,i've seen many of his interviews to Tamil channels and also to many big media houses..But here he was more "casual" and less "aware of camera"..Simi ma'am ,the way in which you handled the questions,allowing enough space for Rahman to think and answer,yet gave back your reactions(or a representation of Audience reactions) in perfect timing and in right measure(which not all anchors successfully do),really made this interview interesting... AR Rahman just makes it so easier to believe that the power to do anything extraordinary in life does not come from power, money, fame and security. The real power to touch souls is to dive as deep as possible into one's own self and breaking one's own boundaries and limitations and to just surrender one's self to the oneness he talked about, here. I cried listening to Maa Tujhe Salaam and Jana Gana Mana. This man is a genius and so humble. Brought me to tears 💚 listening in 2020. Simi so aptly said national anthem and second national anthem. Being Indian but having never lived in India, these two songs connect me right away to the essence of being Indian🙏

Thank you so much for interviewing ARR! This is the first time ever I have seen ARR interacting with host. I like the essence of this show. This show makes you fall in love with the personality of host and celebrity too rather than creating controversies or commenting mean things about co-stars like new talk shows.

This certainly is a priceless interview! How immensely lucky you are to have sat there and watched him play....All of those compositions are my favourites too....ones that invariably leave me with goosebumps no matter how many times I hear them!
