One of the episodes that got me most amazing response from all over the world was the one with Waheeda-ji!
She told me later that it was her best interview, because she 'forgot we were doing an interview'!
I also forgot!
While talking we seemed to transcend onto another zone. Then, at the end, when she sang Waqt ne kiya, I couldn't bring myself back to reality again. I was lost in her...
What a story.
What beauty, what humility.

Those times are referred to as golden era because of these golden people working with their golden talent. The charm that Simi mam has to interview people is something that everyone would like to have. However, I truly wonder why this fabulous show never lasted for decades as wherein other boring shows run like anything. It is nothing but the misfortune of the TV channels that they do not have such amazing shows to offer anymore. After listening to Gurudattji's story, I came to understand why appreciation is important and the role it could play to even add some happiness to one's life. Never break anyone's hope because it could be possible that this would be the last hope that his life is continuing on. God bless you.

Makes me chuckle everytime she narrates the marraige proposal and cry when she describes her husband... One can feel the goodness in her soul. True!! They don't make the likes of her anymore. 😊

Started crying when waheedaji cried for her husband and still crying while she’s singing.Its just not the interview for me brings back the memories of my father listening and singing her songs.He is no more.Thank you simmiji..i am 40 & my childhood was all about movies and songs .My father a super handsome man ran away from home to Bombay only to be brought back to work as a professor.I have so much in heart wish could write it all!! God bless you simmiji...Needless to say you are marvelous . Waheedaji is unmatchable. Wish you luck!!Much love !!!

I like, love and respect Waheeda ji so much! Such grace and beauty! And the story of her marriage proposal is so funny and the description of her married life so beautiful and bought tears to my eyes.. Thankful Simi ji for this. It's not just an interview. It's like two friends are talking to each other who have lots of respect for each other. Through this show, we got to know the real person not the actor or actress.. This show is simply beautiful!

I'd been binge-watching different Rendezvous episodes.. I didn't care to comment until this one..Seeing this adorable sweet woman- Waheeda Rehman, I had to...She is just so sweet.. Her smile brings forth her innocence and humility.. Such grace and class..Wow, such a gem ! :)

I was exploring insights of GuruDatt and reached to Rendezvous through a series of videos on Datt Sa'ab. 'Rendezvous' was fulfilling when Respected Waheeda ji commented on GuruDatt ji. I watch movies rarely but am mad for watching Pyaasa & Sahib, bibi aur Ghulam repeatedly and while watching these two movies i think more about Genius Guru datt ji and regret his premature demise at 39 only. I literally cried when Waheeda ji commented on Him. Thanks Simi Ma'm for this show and upload. Bow down to Waheeda ji for her simplicity.

This remains my most favorite interview from the Rendevouz series. She is such a real and beautiful person. One of the reasons I love the golden era is her films, and of course "Guide". Thank you Simi ma'am, for this beautiful interview. It is very emotional when she talks about her husband. :) In the end when you say, you love her, that was exactly my emotion after this interview. I love both of you

Be it acting, dancing or her sheer presence, there is something special about Waheeda ji - something akin to a musical symphony arising from inside of her beautiful self - playing in her speech, on her face and gestures. It can be felt but difficult to express. It is artistic, graceful but very subtle. Simi G's personality is so gentle that watching her feels like watching rain water falling on mountain top, flowing down effortlessly, passing through the ground, shaping, reshaping, touching depths of the sea, rising to call of the Sun and moving again in the sky as clouds. Serene and flawless!

Waheeda Rehman - the most mesmerizing actor in Indian cinema. I am not talking about 'Pyasa' or 'Chaudhavi ki Chand'. They are timeless classics. I am talking about her dance in the early part of her career, she danced for two Tamil and two Telugu films. The dance sequence is from the films 'Rojulu Marayi' and 'Kalam Maripochu'. The song is 'Yeruvakko Sagaro'. Her performance is simply superlative. Anyone who sees this dance will become a VICTIM. Her charm is so infective that the spectator will become spell bound. Be warned, if you see it once, you will become so addicted that you will want to see it a thousand times. You cannot get tired of watching her. It is so addictive. You may not understand Telugu, but her sensuous, sinuous, scintillating movements and expressions need no translations. Her eyes speak all the time. This masterpiece cannot be recreated by anyone except Waheeda. It is one of the finest dances I have ever seen in my life. All my respect to Madam Waheeda Rehman.

sumati India yes, yes. 100000percent agree. Simi reveals herself in two utterances: in part part 1 she is told that Guru Dutt was not acknowledged during his lifetime, and says, “Mai bahut dukhi hoon, yeh jaankar”. And her grief shone through her eyes. The second utterance is when she closes the interview with another legend of a lady with three simple words - I love you. These interviews are mainly about four unforgettable people, Waheeda, Guru Dutt, Kanwaljeet and Simi herself.

The aesthetics were important to me..even if others didn't notice them - but your discerning eye absorbed every little detail! How rewarded I feel!! ***** Thank you for your reply. The lyrics were written by you ? So there is a poetess in you adding to your CV ! The singer is Dominique Cerejo I presume. I'm surprised that your program has to end. I don't think so. There will not be a dearth of channels in this era to telecast such a popular program. NDTV, CNN IBN & Times Now were featuring Bollywood music & other programs on weekends which were very popular. But now they have run out of ideas as to how to project Bollywood except film reviews in CNN IBN. Till recently we had Anuradha Sengupta's "beautiful people". I'm sure these channels would love to telecast your programs. Then there is TLC India, Nat Geo people.... I was waiting for you to feature the long lost cousins Prannoy & Arundhathi Roy, Hasan family with Mani Ratnam, his famous wife, her famous uncle Kamal Hasan, his actress wife, daughters, Anupam & Kiran Kher (They had previous marriages) & so many others....Yours is a family oriented show & the relationships between the family members are brought out so beautifully. You have a knack of bringing out their inner thoughts without looking snoopy. You are the Oprah Winfrey of India. I for one wouldn't want this to end. Too bad if it does. The loss would be ours.

#WaheedaRehman is an absolute gem. Though I haven't watched so many movies of hers, I always feel enthralled after watching her on-screen. Listening to her is really enjoyable. I can't express in words how wonderfully she has acted in the movie "Guide", especially in the song "Aaj fir jeene ki tamanna hai." ❤❤ And #SimiGarewal is a class apart when it comes to taking interviews. ❤ The way she said SORRY is so heart touching.... There are lots of shows on TV but I genuinely think this is one of the best. I loved the last part where she sang "Waqt ne Kiya." This is amazing! Thank you so so much!

Simi ji -- thanks for this surreal experience! Waheeda Rehman and you sharing unforgettable experiences, talking about amazing people ... I wonder how mundane our lives would be if there were no such larger-than-life masterpieces such as your Randezvous. I have noticed with Dev Anand's Randezvous too that you bring out something magical from within these radiant old stars that is beyond description. This definitely is the best chat show that I have ever come across. Simi ji is classy, soft and respectful and so genuine. Perhaps, that is why such big personalities and stalwarts open up their hearts and feelings to even her difficult and sometimes personal questions. Today's journalists and chat show hosts should learn from Simi ji. And what should I say about Waheeda ji? She is a legend, a classic beauty and a very kind woman. She is loveable, a great actress and extremely charming. One of my all time favourites. Thank you Simi ji for this great interview.

Even i have enjoyed every second of this show.I can't explain how much i love and respect waheeda mam.i like her name also that i had decided that i will keep my daughters name waheeda..sometimes my family gets surprise because of my craziness about her as i am a girl of this generation.My friends laugh at me also for listening old songs..even i don't know why she is so gorgeous and lovely to me more than any other actresses.i am greatful and thankful to you for giving us such a wonderful moments of her..i cried with happiness😇 such a wonderful and pure soul she has this interview gave me the opportunity to love her more than before ❤

Such a nice Interview I've ever watched!! It was very touching when Waheeda ji reminisces the time and talks about her husband. Anyone can feel and see the love they both shared in her eyes. True love which everyone craves...which never dies...which completes one's life..

The way Simiji draws out Waheedaji to talk about Guru Dutt is mind-blowing. I learnt more about Guru Dutt and Waheedaji - both - in this one interview than I had previously known. I understand now what ailed Guru Dutt. It brought tears to my eyes. That's the mark of a great interviewer. You have to do your homework and come prepared, but also be able to think on your feet and react to the other person's emotions. The other day, I was mad at Shoma for botching up Zeenat Aman's interview. She did everything Simi did not--she should watch this interview for future tips. It's ironic - ALGEBRA was supposed to be cerebral and intellectual but Shoma was trying to make it salacious - just the opposite of Simiji. (P.S. I just realized that I am reacting to part 1 - let's see what part 2 brings.)
