I unfortunately was not familiar with her for this role ( I knew her from her role as Donna Love Hudson on Another World) but am so glad to see just how she was on DAYS. The storyline recently with Sarah being brainwashed to believe herself as Renee piqued my interest.
The way it worked out, Renee died on the happiest day of her life. She got it all: the DiMera empire, all the money and status that goes with it, the respect she always wanted (after that speech, no one could help feel that way) and most of all, Tony's love, and a chance for them to start over and let go of the past. Think of the life they would have had, if it hadn't been for Andre.
It's so sad because I really liked Renee and Philece Sampler was utterly fantastic in this role and should have won an Emmy, especially for this scene!
Philece once told me that back then - she solicited herself for an Emmy nomination. Well, many in the industry frowned upon her doing it for herself. She didn't care - and I applauded her. She was definitely overlooked!
@@johnzenone6940 I remember there being some nonsense about Days not wanting to nominate actors who were no longer on the show. Good for Philece for lobbying for herself! Anyone, and I mean ANYONE, in the industry who has watched these scenes knows that Philece deserved an Emmy.
This was Philece Sampler's tour-de-force and one of the most memorable scenes from this era. This was a rare and expensive occurrence when they would have the FULL cast all in scene and one character gets to address them. Just delicious!
The most famous scene in the history of the show. Philece Sampler should have won an Emmy Award this performance. Renee taking on Alex, Daphne, Anna and those "itty bitty Hortons", including David and Julie. Also mentioning those that had supported her like Marlena, Chris & Tony. Awesome performance..... then Renee turning up dead. Guess Dr Rolf was not around then
When I was a 6 year old becoming aware of my mom watching soap operas, Renee, Alex Marshell and the Salem strangler were the first characters I remember from this show back in 82. And that started years of me and my brother enjoying this beautiful nonsense whenever I was home sick or during the summer months in the 80s/90s 😂
What a truly great scene! I still remember it from when I was a kid. After all these years, Renee is still one of my all-time favourite Days characters. If the foolish writers hadn't written her off, she and Tony could have been one of Days' greatest super-couples. At the time, NBC kept playing teaser trailers showing that someone was going to die - and it was obviously a brunette woman. As much as I liked Gwen, I kept hoping it would be her and not Renee! Months later, after everything was explained (Stefano still being alive, Tony's imprisonment, and the existence of Andre), I remember thinking what kind of moron murders his boss' daughter? And how did Stefano let him get away with it? Aside from all that, this really was Days of Our Lives at its best!
I remember that teaser trailer! "Renee Dimera is throwing the party of the year, and someone is going to die" as blood ran down over the hourglass logo. I remember thinking "as long as it's not Renee." Then my heart broke...
One of my all-time favorite DOOL scenes. Renee let everybody have it. Alex was soo funny when she was putting him in his place. R.I.P. Philece (Renee) 1953-2021.
@OneDayAfterAnother - I agree!!! Maybe when soaps are completely off the air will they allow footage of the shows to be available to watch either on TV, streaming sites, or both. The most important timeframe of DAYS OF OUR LIVES for me is 1983-1987, 1990-1992, 1994-1995, 1997-2000, 2008-2010, & 2012-2019.
So Renee and her Sister/Mother Emily/Lee DuMonde Williams was from Georgia . How did Lee and Stefano DiMera get together and have Renee ? Was that history ever explained ? 🤔
I can't remember the woman's name (her character's name) on this show who used to be a nun before she fell in love with Alex Marshall? She's in this video.
Greetings....finast,most intense moment on Days ive ever seen....nearly the whole cast was there, including the Demeara maid!!!😂....early 80s DOOL were the best...hands down...!!🏅
@@marcelparker6755 - Actors who played Eugene Bradford, Don Craig, Alex Marshall, and Roman Brady are some of the actors who just did not want to return to DAYS OF OUR LIVES or who just did not want to do SOAPS anymore at all.
@@NYCJoeBlack I saw an old clip of Anna Dimera. Yesterday and she was quite a dish back then..I did notice some humor with the show back then..Not much with the show now I don't think ?? XD
@@MrCraigblaze - Yeah, Anna DiMera is an awesome character and I am so glad the show brought her back in 2007. I thought after she left the show in 1987, we’d never she her in Salem again. Anna is a lot more fun with Calliope Jones, Eugene Bradford, and Alex Marshall, but if the three, I think the show would/could only get Calliope to return. Speaking of Calliope, I want her to come back to back to the show ASAP!!
@@NYCJoeBlack Was Calliope be on Santa Barbara too..She looks familiar ..Too bad I was only 7 at the time..Who was Anna's male secretary at the time. He looks like Clark Kent.. XD
@@MrCraigblaze - I don’t know if Calliope Jones was on Santa Barbara as I was not a consistent watcher even though I LOVED the storyline when Eden supposedly died from falling off a cliff and she came back to life as a “new” woman with glasses and dark hair (it was her all that time). I think within that same storyline, an older woman was the person who actually killed someone and Eden was a ghost or the show showed past events via the Eden character...I guess her ghost? Not sure. It was so good though.
@@MrCraigblaze - Tony’s mother who had one of the PRISM and was one person besides the pilot, who died in that plane crash headed to Hati, but found themselves in the Bermuda Triangle (Stefano’s Island).
Unpopular opinion, but I hated this character. Philece was great at playing her but Renee was such a silly whiny character I was happy to see the back of her.
