This song was one of the most interesting Ren and Friends song I’ve broken down. The song form is fascinating, as well as the vocals! / timwelchvocalstudio www.TimWelchMus...
If you like them goofing around you should watch the car park attendant version. It's different enough to do another reaction believe me and it really shows how Ren just keeps on going through difficulty after difficulty just like his life. 😊
Seconding. Aside from it's being a very different take on the song (particularly due to the circumstances), but it's just funny as hell and so very Ren and Sam.
I was going to say the same thing. I think that you might like the live version they performed together while busking. It's of my favorite versions. This song is my 2 year old grandson's song. He will walk around singing the "Sometimes, sometimes, sometimes" part that Sam does. Then he'll start baby talking Ren's part. This song grabbed Xavier's ear and attention. Music is such a great uniter of people. Any song that can captivate a 2 year old who is learning how to communicate with the world around him is a masterpiece.
The official genre label for that piece is progressive rappunkreggaejazz, otherwise known as prazz. There are only two artists who have dared to play and master it--and they happened to be featured in this video! 🤠
Ren has said in interviews that he has attention deficit disorder. He said that music has been the only thing that is able to keep his attention for any period of time. It shows in his musical composition.
❤❤❤ Edit: May I recommend you listen on your own to the actual music video of Blind Eyed. It’s completely different than the version you reacted to. It’s incredible how they took the song and broke it down to its bare bones in the MC sessions. There are a few other versions, a busking one and a very popular one with reactors is the one that features The Angry Park attendant. That may be one you may decide to do just to spoil us Renegades😂 sometime in the future. Thank you sir. Another great reaction.
@@TimWelchVocalStudioThe official version is good and feels a bit more like a song *but* anything in this version that isn't a word isn't them singing in that version... including most of Sam's riffing and runs. They actually do something different in every version they have uploaded, Ren rapping to more of a melody, Sam and Ren trading parts for the chorus, stuff like that. Ren said he just randomly played a completely different intro in the busking video... I didn't even notice. The angry car park attendant version is an acoustic guitar. Every single version has its own charm, this is just the clearest minimalist version.
I don't want to ruin it but in the Angry Car Park version Ren does something pretty impressive with the guitar, but you don't really see it fully until the end
"What was that song form?...... " It's the genre of music called "Ren and friends" Seems like there really isn't anything they can't do. You have to see the car park attendant version. Shows the talent of them both, not knocked out of their stride at all. Oh and thanks, another great reaction Tim. 👋👋
I think Ren made a decision early in his music making career that he wanted to go outside the box. The way he pays attention to not only the lyrics but the texture and mood of a piece keeps his audience engaged and guessing what’s next. It’s always a surprise and always awesome. I love that you will often get singing, rapping and spoken word all in the same piece. I sure hope Sam and Ren can collaborate again in the future. Thanks Tim for another great reaction and analysis.
I thought I read recently (Chinese Whispers) that they have already made a song but Sam is signed now and they won’t allow the release as it’s not the genre they are looking for him. That would be an absolute shame.
I've been waiting for you to do this reaction, partially so I could say "I TOLD YA'!" but mostly just to see you dive into this one the way you did. Ren did this the same way as How to be Me, where they replace most of the instruments with their voices, and seriously, this sounds nothing like the studio version. I think Ren and Sam made it a hundred times better. Oh, and of course they have a version of this featuring the angry car park attendant, which is amazing in its own right. Lastly, if you find the busking version of this song, keep in mind that was the first time they had performed this song live, which makes how it came out just mind blowing. Keep it up! We're loving you and your reactions.
This was the first Ren (& Sam) song that I heard. It was recommended by my daughter - it is my favourite version of the song. Looking forward to hearing the analysis.
This is a great version, and worth comparing to both the caepark and the MC Crowns version and the bussking version. Each one has a little something special!
Personally, I think this version and the studio version are the best. They also have the most dramatically different sound. I think he’d be really interested in hearing the studio version which does sound slightly more like a standard song.
I’m glad you finally made it here. This is the song Ren tributes to giving himself a career and music someone with witness this and posted it on Facebook on a Mexican restaurant page and it went viral.
My favorite thing about Ren (and Friends) beyond what they bring to the table is the creativity they spark in so many others. I can’t tell you how many creative people on YT take what they’ve learned & immediately go home to expand their own poetry l/music/art. 😀💜🎶 Also, just for fun (maybe even on your own time) you might want to check out this same song where a buddy of Ren & Sam got a feature (Angry Car Park Attendant ). It’s epic! 🚗
So pleased you did this version thank you Tim! I hope you get a chance to do the angry car park version too! It’s worth it I promise. 😉🥰 You always do such a good breakdown, it’s really interesting. Ren and Sam are quite a force together aren’t they?! 🥰
I think you would really enjoy Seven Sins because it's so unconventional. It's a lyric video but it comes in handy to follow Ren's lyrics. One of my all time Ren favourites and one of Ren's own faves too. There's also a BTS on how he made it in Rens @renmakesstuff channel.❤
You may have already read about how Ren and Sam first met when Sam was 16 and Ren was 23. If you'd like to see their very first performance together, there is a video called “Reacting to My Old Singing Videos from 10 Years Ago” on Sam’s channel which was posted about 4 years ago. The last segment is about that special encounter.
Oh, this is such a great analysis/commentary on this song! Genre-wise for me, it feels like this is some super important "character development" moment in a piece of musical theatre that we've lost the rest of the script & libretto for. (except meta-wise, we know it's autobiographical lyrics from the mind of Ren with Sam working alongside him in its creation) In other words: the genre is Ren, lol. How they figured out how to piece it together it in a way that leaves it feeling cohesive-enough to pull the listener along for the ride, I have no idea. It should be a bloody random chaotic mismatched mess of a song, and yet it's utterly compelling. And I totally agree - Ren can play his guitar like it's a part of his own human voice. It's like he wanted to sing something but forgot to open his mouth because the strings of his guitar were expressing his thoughts so beautifully he didn't realize he wasn't using his voice.
You analyze music so differently than any of the other reactors I watch that are professional voice teachers and I love it!! I'm so glad I found your channel and love that you're a fellow renegade. Looking forward to more amazing analyses!!!
This is one of my faaaaavorites. You should check out the produced version of this, even if only on your own time, and you'll see how all those ooooos and aaaahs are them just substituting the production. 😮 So awesome.
Hey Tim, loving your stuff! It would be amazing if you could check out Blind eyed featuring angry carpark attendant. I absolutely love that version and also seems to perfectly imitate his life- where everything goes wrong but still produces a masterpiece ❤️
Ren just speaks music - with and without actual words. Might not make a lot of sense as a vocal analyst, but he has a fully instrumental piano piece called Mackay and it’s stunning. Also still eagerly waiting for you to get to Crutch feat. Bibi and Ren busking some Nirvana. Totally different sides of his vocal abilities that you haven’t really heard yet. Cause it’s Ren so of course there’s so much more to discover 😂
Definitely think you need to watch Sam's song "Hero" (his own song) live from Hammersmith...so much emotion and an amazing example of a singer rising to meet a huge challenge. It reminds me of Demi Lovato's Grammy performance of "Anyone" from a pure rawness perspective.
I’m not a musician and I’m not a singer, but I do love music, and man, I love your breakdowns Tim. REN has introduced me to some super people involved in music. Love from the UK
Thanks Tim. Great analysis and comments. Some of the Big Push offerings are a showcase for Ren & TBP vocals and harmonies. Ren does a fantastic vocal on TBP originals, 'Precious' & It's Alright. Bongo Bong & English Man in New York covers are amazing. Much love from Wales UK.❣
I've been waiting for this one. One of my favorites and I usually repeat it 2 or 3 times when it comes up on my playlist. Wonderful reaction, I enjoy your analysis and your energy immensely ❤🎶
I love your analysis. ❤ As a vocalist who loves the texture in Ren's vocals, I would love to hear you react to a song that he's singing on. Not Sam or Chinchilla analysis as you react to them separately. There are many to choose from. "Oh My Woman" is one. 💜 However, it's your channel, I respect whatever you do.
This is great guidance. I would love to do that! ✨🙏🏼 I could literally break down textures and tone quality all day long! That is actually what I do all day long lol
I know that playing viola in orchestra and singing in church choir keeps me sane. Ren is an amazing musician. This is one of my favorite Ren performances. Thanks for reacting to it. Ren has videos where collaborates with Liv Sangster that i think you would enjoy.
First and foremost Tim, what a lovely and kind intro❣️ Like I said earlier, this is one of my absolute favorites full of surprises! These two precious boys breathe fresh life into me! I can’t thank you enough for my first smile of the day…this was both special and needed💝💫
So glad to see you finally get to this song. It's one of my favorites of the Ren and Friends category. I get goose bumps every time I watch this video.
There are 4 versions of this song online worth watching. 1. Street Busking version2. Angry Parking Attendant version 3. cinematic video version and 4. the MC sesision version you just reacted to.
The 'Angry parking guy' version is crazy. They play and sing while walking after being kicked out of the car park. REN breaks a string and keeps playing with a big smile... it's a unique performance!
The busking version of this song kinda pushed them into the RU-vid zeitgeist. I saw Sam do an interview with Ren . In it they discuss the unexpected response, and how glad they were to have each other to share it with .❤ Tim thank you so much for this joyful review. I missed the premiere, but I was excited to watch this when I got home from work . BRILLIANT !
Awesome reaction again man. The authenticity and enthusiasm you share for the art is very appreciated. Ren and Sam are just so original. Love it . 🍻🙂🇨🇦🔥
This is one of my favourite songs he's done the speed of the rap the diversity of both their vocal range and styles. I came across it a while ago and I just think it showed how amazing these two are together and how fantastic a musician Ren is and what a great duo Sam and him make. It's no wonder they were busking legends.
This reaction is epic!!! I love learning more about music, and the way you approach it makes it easy to understand. Thank you Tim! I'm a goofball as well, btw... GOOFBALLS UNITE, LOL!
I’m mostly doing this comment for the algorithm…but…I really like your reaction. I found Ren in the beginning of last year. I’ve absolutely loves him since then. I have this idea that there is such a thing as absolute quality. Not everything is subjektive. And Ren is objective quality.
Would have loved to watch this writing process, since the wrote it together. The buskinf version of this, filned by Samuel Perry-Falvey and a cell pgone video of Ren doung Teoyble So Hard pisted online in summer of 2018 is what propelled them forward. They had people flying in from all over the world ti hear them busk .❤
It makes me so happy to hear reactions like this! Your deep appreciation of Ren and Sam is refreshing and your musical experience adds so much to the reaction! I love this collaboration and i thank you for your enthusiastic reactions ❤
You are fucking dialed Tim. Your energy, recognition of musical/vocal mastery and willingness to share your time and knowledge with strangers on the internet is beautiful. AND THAT CLIP OF YOU WAS SICK!! We are lucky to have you.
Tim tysm for reacting to this track. I have sent it to anyone who identifies and can give their expert opinion. I'm definitely a Ren lover, but I stumbled across this a while ago and am in absolute AWE of Sam's voice... seriously the voice of an angel. This is probably my favorite track. I could listen to it over and over. Thanks so much for your opinion... I friggin love Sam and Ren so much. Also thank you for encouraging us to put our pain into art... it's pretty scary but it needs to be done eventually or nothing will change. Thanks again xx
@Tim maybe you know the story but Ren found Sam busking when he was a lot younger and really took to him and wanted to help him with his sound setup since he is such a talent. There are fairly old videos of them busking together. I may be wrong but "They break and I'm driving my universe into a lake" makes me think of the friend Ren lost.
Easily my favorite reactor !! That “ wtf was that “ moment is everyone when they hear this. There is a video of them the first time they met I believe on Instagram
THANK YOU! This is my favorite song of Rens and this is the best version. I’ve never heard anyone make such a deal of it as I felt it was. It’s so unlike anything else I’ve heard.
That put a smile on my face watching you going through the different parts of the song on your first listern, as I knew full well what was coming. I expect I looked the same my first listern. I'm enjoying learning the technical stuff behind it. Great and informative reaction, yet again!
I've watched this during the premier but I was busy then and couldn't concentrate on it as much as I'd like to. So now I'm watching this again. 😍 I love your versatility and professionalism in music as well as your enthusiasm and excitement with which you explore and breakdown music that's new to you. Thanks, Tim! It's a pure pleasure to watch your reactions. Also there's a lot of informative and educational stuff. Thanks for doing this. My life is quite much better with you in it. I appreciate you. 🧡
This song! This song!!! Is everything. 😊 I’ve never in my life heard a more interesting structure of a song! The writing is stellar! The performance even more so ❤❤❤ thanks Tim for picking up all the great details of this song, I could listen to another thirty minutes of breaking down this masterpiece 🎉
The angry car park attendant version of this song is great! The fact that it sounds so good while walking around the parking garage is incredible! Such a fun video! Great reactions by the way! Much love!
This track and this version of this track is perfection! I've been waiting for you to do this one :) Definitely have to watch the version ft angry car park attendant for a laugh.
Thank-you for sharing your expertise with the Renegades.. seeing your performance piece was amazing (so Fred again) - loved it! Will be waiting for the next one.
The ohhh ohh ohh ohhhh i i's get stuck in ya brain and sneak out of your mouth at the most random times i've found haha. Such a great song. I love these 2 together. Thank you for the reaction.
