A few things to note about Jon which he confirmed: The reason why he went in hiatus was not from the racial controversy, but an update video called "Where's Jonno?" and his guest appearance in H3H3 podcast which Jon states that he had filmed 3 Jontron videos and wasn't satisfied with them. He said that he wanted to change the format of his channel and that's why he was gone for awhile, which shows with his recent episodes. Jon is no stranger to this, he has been inconsistent with his schedule for awhile now, cause his production takes time and planning. Quality over Quantity. The whole racial controversy is that when he was on debating, he was pressured, going in guns blazing and without full concrete research. In the H3H3 podcast he said that he never had the "why the heck did I say that" moment but also he admits that the way he phrased it could've been better. Still despite all of this, I love Jon and glad to see that he got out of this mess, hope to see his future videos

I think well all know that guy in the middle. Walks into a situation with an uninformed opinion and yields it like a sword to judge others. Arms crossed, refusing to enjoy something as if to do so would be a sign of weakness. Such a sad existence. What hope is there that he could grow out of it when he already feels he knows it all?

Hi Nate. Jon explained why he took a break and it was'nt because of that debate. Also on an episode of the H3H3 Podcast he explained that the reason he left GameGrumps was just because of creative differences and that there was nothing else going on.

Jon "hung with the wrong crowd"? Gonna call bullshit on that Nate. Idk where you got your information, but if we are speaking about the same podcast - the one where everyone was suddenly offended by JonTron afterwards - then I have to say people blew this out of proportion. He didn't even say anything bad about Afroamericans. He just stated his opinon on how he experienced the left end of the political spectrum going incredibly off the rails in recent years. I mostly agreed with him there. It started a couple of years ago when people just started to get offended by EVERYTHING, and that pissed me off personally as well. Today you can't even have a politically centered opinion anymore, cause the left will call you out for being a right-extremist and the right will call you out for being too left/liberal. And that is basically what JonTron was complaining about if I remember correctly. He did not use any racist slur, he did not discriminate against any ethnicity or minority. He just said his (somewhat conservative) opinion. And people freaked out. I don't know what happened after that but fuck people who get offended by something like this.

EDIT: Went back and looked at the whole "controversy". I can certainly say I do not agree with JonTron on his opinion about "white culture" and I strongly disagree from the implied point that he made more or less saying that Afroamericans tendencies for crime does have a genetic component. But I also have to argue that a lot of things he said where factual (higher crime rates among Afroamericans, extremism on the left calling everyone disagreeing with them "alt-right", immigration being a huge problem in Europe and other countries around it). I don't think those ideas are racist. I think does views are more nationalist in nature, and I do believe there is some truth in that. There are huge social issues in our current age, especially those past few years. And it's putting major frictions on our countries. What does no help here is that everyone expressing a controversial opinion despite being relatively un-offensive and moderate in their articulation of it is being shamed, called a racist, asshole, alt-right, neo-nazi or whatnot just because he/she has a different opinion. Which I think was one of JonTrons main points. The guy certainly wouldn't win any scientific awards with his arguments, but I do not believe he is - or ever was - racist.

BadPeople1100 Also keep in mind that the Sargon podcast with Jon, where the events transpired, took place about a week before Jon actually got into politics, so he hadn't yet formed a cohesive political opinion. Sargon and Jon discussed the "controversy" Jon caused on a later Google Hangouts stream. I think it might have been uploaded to either Sargon Streams or The Thinkery. Either way, Jon did nothing wrong.

BadPeople1100 I know Sargon hosted a stream with Jon around the same time. I'm not quite sure of it was the major stir-up for the controversy, but it was definitely part of it. Either way, Jon's political opinion is far more cohesive now. And he describes himself as a classical liberal, so that's good.

Jon appeared on a stream with Sargon and some of his buddies where they discussed political correctness and the regressive left's bullshit, then he debated with Destiny about immigration and crime among black americans. I'm not sure if Jon appeared on another stream with Sargon but I do know that Sargon went onto Destiny's stream (or was it vice versa?) and defended Jon. The debate went so poorly for Destiny that he had Sargon's second channel "The New Memedia" shut down because Sargon refused to remove their debate from the channel.

Ok. . . . I need to say something here . . . I know not everyone has 100% of the information about Jon and all the things but I think it was a bit of a HUGE misconception and twisting his message. Oh and dont even start on the Pewds. that was a HUGE news scandal where they went out of their way to make him out as a nazi supporter and anti-semitist so they could show how awful RU-vid and people are. That's what I heard from the trickle down at least. Don;t get me wrong discussion on these topics are what makes us who we are. We have the power to debate and talk these things out, reason issues out. But saying it was their fault and not the backlash of news coverage and drama videos that started the whole RU-vid Ad Drama thing is a bit ridiculous.

"Everyone has the room for redemption" Tell that to the people going against ProJared....God, finding all that crap on an old cell phone, I mean yikes....But then again, this is during an era when false charges are being thrown at you...I mean, I have had one of my friends thrown in jail with false charges, my friend's half-brother also thrown in jail...wanna know why...because she wanted to move back in with her mother, and her mother said no....I'm just saying, I know this shit is real, but the way things are now...I can't tell if it's a half-baked lie or truth, because false charges have pretty much sent the clock back on that about a hundred years

Renegades I love you guys, but we put to much power into that word, (Im not going to say it because I will get flack for it). He wasn't trying to be raciest, at least to my knowledge. That word literally comes from the word negro meaning black. The history that comes with that word is horrible but we need to let the past stay in the past and move on.

SpongeBob CancerPants and he was pulling from statistics and not just opinions. Like he said black people commit more crime and are more vulnerable to do so. Alot of black people live in bad neighborhoods and and those kids in those neighborhoods are more prone to violence since they see it in the neighborhood. He also said something about black people dropping out of school more or doing more poorly. I went to a Catholic school and I can even say it's true. There were a few black teens in my class who were doing poorly in school and it was because they never listened and were always refusing to do homework. One left our school necause he went to prison. Another black teen in a lower grade got expelled for fighting. Obviously not all black people are violent or poorly educated, but statistics do show that these issues are more on them than it is for any other race. Just like there are statistics that show thst Asian people have the highest incomes in the US and do better in school than any other race.

I feel the majority of controversies that happens are that we can't talk about these things without someone immediately getting witch hunted and reprimanded. Jon said in his guest appearance in the H3H3 podcast, is that people will take things out of context and will just jump into conclusions without really listening to the argument at hand. For myself, I'm a huge fan of Jon's, although I don't agree with most of what he stated but I can agree that we at least need to point out the events and social stuff that happens in our lives with a calm and orderly debate, rather than all the hate and pointless manhunting.

If you're not black, the "move on," "get over it," and "it's just a word" arguments don't hold much weight. It's not a word directed at non-black people; so it really doesn't make sense for a non-black person to use those arguments.

julie martinez There's another rampant problem among African-American communities that cause further problems in poverty. Marriage rates. A household with 2 married parents has on average double the income, which obviously helps not living in poverty. Then kids from a broken home are a lot more likely to turn to gangs and crimes, statistically. Marriage would subsequently reduce crime. In short, I believe social benefits for single parenthood should be reduced, which would motivate more people to make marriages work. A single mother of 3 never has to work a day in her life, because of the social safety net. She technically lives in poverty, but isn't poor.

I'm pretty sure what Jon ACTUALLY said was that because it was all 'off the cuff' in the interview, he didn't explain his viewpoint as well as he wanted to/should have. He explained it in a video if I recall correctly.

Helvi Lockhart Well, the podcast with Sargon, where the controversy happened, took place about a week after Jon got into politics, properly. So it makes sense that he hadn't yet formed a cohesive opinion.
