What a wonderful video. Hope that you get the approval for your renewal in MM2H and stay in Malaysia as long as you wish. You too, have a wonderful weekend.
Footage 0:26, Hock Choon, wow it still exists. Back then in the 1970s, I used to live with my parents on Jalan U'Thant, off Jalan Ampang Hilir, off Jalan Ampang. Across the road from Hock Choon, there are two secondary schools, one for boys, one for girls, I had my secondary school education from Form 1 to Form 5 in Sekolah Menengah Seri Ampang.
I might not be right but I feel so grateful to you, Taylor, that I barely watch 2 seconds of any of your videos and I push the like button. Keep rocking in Malaysia, good man. Cheers from Bangkok
So pleased you have your MM2H visa sorted. You have just got to wait now. Hope you're now sleeping better too. We cannot wait until March when we will be over there. Take care xxx Ashley xxx
Hi Taylor, i love your channel. Just a suggestion maybe you can also activate your members only on RU-vid. That way some of your subscribers can subscribe to a small monthly fee other than buying you a coffee. This way some of your fans can also see more of your exclusive videos.
I would definitely use an agent, especially given that it takes months for it to be processed. Imagine waiting several weeks then finding out at that point that something was wrong!
Thanks Taylor for sharing your experience about your MM2H renewal process. I recently watched a video regarding the new MM2H rules and without going into the specifics, the bottom line, at least for myself, is, that it is still beyond my financial capability. In general, the need to have monthly income has gone. There is now a mandated agent fee of 40,000 ringgits. There is a requirement to have a certain amount of money in a Malaysian bank and also the requirement to purchase a property for at least 600,000 ringgits, which in KL would be, according to the state regulations, would be at least 1,000000 ringgits. When I convert all of the various accounts to my own currency I would be looking at least $600,000 Australian dollars, a little bit on the high side for me. One of the parts that really disappoints me is the mandated agent fee, which equates to several thousand dollars, never to be seen again, that is extremely disappointing. I would be interested to hear your thoughts.
Hi Taylor. Great video. That said, $1,200 to do that process seems high. What do they do for foreign workers? Say educators who don't make that much money. Hard to believe there's not a cheaper way. Maybe there's a way to groupify?
Hi Andrew, Thank you, for sharing your very informative video! May I ask, when you provide copies of your passport pages, did you have to photocopy all the pages, including unused pages, or just the information pages only? Thank you! Bern
Hi Taylor, I'm just curious if there will be a significant amount of new MM2H applications considering the new requirements will attract much more wealthy retirees. Maybe Alter Domus can address this question ? But, I myself am no longer interested. It's apparent that Malaysia does NOT want lower income expats anymore. Additionally, I believe that the wealthy Mainland China and Hong Kong are going to Singapore and Malaysia ( and Thailand and the Phillipines ). That would be an interesting topic too.
MM2H visa is more complicated and expensive: There are 56,000 active pass holders from MM2H. Not a huge participants: China - 24,765 (44%) Australia - 9,265 South Korea - 4,940 Japan - 4,733 Bangladesh - 3,604 UK - 2,234 Taiwan - 1,000 US - 1,000 India - 1,000 Singapore - 1,000
I am worried about fulfilling the USA IRS reporting requirements for foreign bank accounts. They keep changing and adding more over time and they try to confuse you so they can hit you with penalties. Are there people in Malaysia that can keep you up to date on these requirements???
Andrew, since I am close to your age, I am more than curious how a North American adapts to life in Asia, even in a nice place like Kuala Lumpur, especially concerning the heat and humidity, things like cutoffs of water, electricity, etc. from time to time, living in a quiet area without a car but near amenities, keeping up with constant health concerns and meds, and of course the food. Personally I can't eat spicy foods or foods with sesame oil. How does someone in our demographic adapt?
Electricity shutdown in Malaysia? Once a year maybe.😊 Water shortage, depend on location. Some place never happened .Some places , quite often when drought season.😂
I am thinking of it but i came to know that you wont get any residence card or permit or ID no. Which could have been so easier for accessing e-services etc. Means one must carry the passport all the time for any unforeseen issue? In addition getting all of the online services would not be so easier in absence of ikad etc or otherwise. pls advise
Hi Andrew, congratulations on renewal. Question? Did they asked financial info like monthly pension or social security amount and how many days you are staying in Malaysia in a year (I know it doesn't apply on you) I sm asking for myself my renewal is comming soon too and I just stay a month or two in one calendar year? I have same agents too
Yes, I agree MM2H is too expensive now. Instead I have just gotten my LTR visa through the Thai Board of Investigation in less than two months. The fee is 50,000 baht to the Thai government on the day of visa issuance. I applied through the BOI website by myself. You can read the requirements and application process on the website.
I did it by myself going on ten years ago and I don't see why I should not be able to do that now, people on the social media advise for that. Having done so it appears that you did all the running around and all they did is operate as a messenger service, if it's worth your while I guess it's good for that. Plus if you hire an agent they hold on to the paperwork and you are dependent on them to renew.
Good for you. For new applications though you are required to use an agent though. As I said in my video, the bank mistake would have resulted in my application being rejected. I like to avoid situations like that.
@@andrewtaylor4558 You didn't get a result, you are still waiting. If you walked in with the paperwork they would have told you right away. If you have been there you will notice that those agents have to stand in the same queue like everybody else and they have to wait for their number to be called like everyone else. You submit the documents to a Government employee behind plexiglass who just takes it to the back to process it and return the paperwork. Those agents don't go there just for you they go there with a number of client folders and submit them in a batch and go there when they are ready with each clients documents.
@@anchored555 If you have been there you will see that the agents must stand in a queue with everyone else and wait for their number to be called like everyone else.. At which point they must hand the documentation in to a Government employee who is behind a plexiglass window and who takes it to the back behind closed doors.. You then wait until someone returns calls your number and hands back the documents behind a plexiglass window. At the beginning of the year the Malaysian Government cancelled the licenses of some agents and in the recent news certain agents have also had their license cancelled. The agents do not make a special trip for one client they submit batches of folders at one time when they are ready to do so..
hello Andrew, i came across your channel about 4-5 weeks ago and forgot what video it was, but in that video you had mentioned you were taking Calcium supplements and I had left a message with a couple of video links from internet doctors where they had advised people against taking Calcium supplements, and had encouraged you to look into the topic because just about every doctor on RU-vid have advised strongly against taking calcium supplements, unless you are taking it with Vitamin D and Vitamin K2, do you remember? I'm just wandering whether you had saw my comment, and if not, it may have been an older video where you may not see it. But please do take the time and effort to research whether taking calcium supplements is beneficial or not for you. Needless to say, I enjoy your videos. Do you have to personally attend Putrajaya for lodgement or collection? 5,000 MYR for submitting paperwork is very high. It equates to more than two months wages for the average Malaysian
