This song is a classic. This was the national anthem during the 2017 African cup Of nations. «"Dans la sauce" means "in the soup/sauce " For example during the African cup of nations, every team Cameroon defeated simply meant, we put them in the soup , and mixed them. Basically meaning, Torture, play with, win etc. The dance/dancing attire is called « Bikutsi » from the Ewondos and Beti tribe. I think you guys felt like it was all over the place because Cameroonian music is very different from other African countries. I would love to see a reaction of another Cameroonian artist like « Salatiel -ça se passe ici » it’s bilingual. Almost all music in Cameroon is Bilingual.

Exactly! American also, I feel I don't even need to speak French. From beginning to end, masterpiece. A point I feel they missed on maybe what they define as dysfunctional. The start of the video, seems like she sneaks out of the house. You can't express your self like that with parents are around. Being under your parents for 18 years or so you may need to find a little freedom.../ dysfunction lol

You guys seemed a bit lost. hahahahahah. But its normal cuz it must be new to you. The genre is called Bikutsi, its a traditional genre that originates from the South of Cameroun (and a bit of Gabon). It is very popular back home. You have to feel it to appreciate. ;) Tonye Now the video is made by a very talented director Ndukong, the video actually captures the lyrics quite well because beeing "dans La sauce" ("in the sauce" lol) in Cameroun means many things. You can see Reniss helping her family to cook at the start, grinding spices (maybe to make a sauce), then she receives a text about a party and she leaves (she is "dans la sauce"), then she goes to the party and you have different scenarios where people are "dans la sauce", the pastor is "dans la sauce" when he eventually starts to dance, the man is "dans la sauce" when the chick does not want to talk to him anymore, in short everyone is "dans la sauce" which is what you hear in the lyrics (especially the chorus). In Cameroun you have different meanings depending on the context, "being screwed" (reniss and her familly), "being captured by something" (the pastor), you get it???? :) Now if you eventually appreciate the song you will be "dans la sauce". like Bryan admitted he liked Akanamili after the reaction (he is now "dans la sauce"). ;) Now Reniss is very good, extremely good and versatile as you noticed. Interestingly, thats her most famous song in Cameroun but for me its far from her best. You know sometimes you cant predict your hits. looool Keep up the good work guys. btw this is the only reaction channel I watch. :) I also have a public playlist of Cameroonian Afrobeats. Might help you pick: open.spotify.com/user/1233739314/playlist/33uqzjpQPGEQyXZzko7EFT?si=CH9Pm0YEQ0uYFNknxY0B-w 🇨🇲

I know that this is your own show and therefore you reserve the right to your own subjective opinion and judgement. But somehow I think in future there should be a criteria that informs your rating. So that we know what standard you use to measure whether or not a song is good. Because in my personal opinion I don't think that this is a bad song (as the rating would suggest) it's just that in your context you don't understand the cultural relevance and musical background that comes with the song therefore you don't vibe with it. For an artist it can be quite insulting to say their song is a 5/10. But at least if you frame it a particular context by creating a criteria for the rating, it becomes understandable.
@UbunifuSpace
@UbunifuSpace 6 лет назад
We will take that into consideration and will try make a video it explain what we use as individuals to give ratings. Thank you.

I totally agree with you, it's pretty normal to give to this song a 5.5 if you used to listen prefabricated african pop song. I am a cameroon native and early in my teenagehood my familly and i set up in paris. Even though at the beggining i didn't totally understand the complex meaning of the song, i was able to see the beauty of its melody, seriously it's really a beautiful song. When you go to a museum you can appreciate different kind of piece of art, for example there are paintings which are very accessible and very understandable for a great audience and on the other side there are paintings who are more detailed, more complex and which demand time to be fully appreciated, La sauce is one of this kind, it's a very beautiful song, traditional (not alternative at all), catchy and very emotional, but at the same it is a very complex song which describe very well the regular life of the cameroonian youth ( by the way the video of the song is just great, so lively).

The whole concept of this song is a lady and her man and how she handles him, what you do,the things u need to keep your man to yourself,protecting him from other girls. It is from the north west region of Cameroon language and culture all of the "Ngemba" clan,Mezam division.

I am happy You guys Reacted to this Song. Kinda Sad u rated it that Low. Let me try to explain the song and video. La Sauce here is not like, sauce as is used in the west. Sauce here applies to many things. This song was used in the african nations cup to say a country won another .for instance when one says "Nigeria dans la sauce" it means Nigeria is fucked basically. Hopwever the video focuses on two interpretations of the word La Sauce ie sauce as in sauce itsel(Stew) and Sauce as in a guy, or lady(sexual). that is why the video is all over, because it is showing the two angles. In one scence you see a woman telling a lady "Ne mets pas ton grimba dans ma sauce ehh" which basically means don't put ur shit in ma sauce. Next cut, a lady walks in with a child and snatches her husband, cause the woman was puting her shit in her sauce i hope u get ut. It is complicated. but that is what makes it beutiful . I hope u Guys react to Jovi too. He is the best Cameroonian Rapper.

the rank is low just bcoz u can't understand the lyrics. basically the main phrases are; "men like women with a lot of sauce" U should understand that "sauce" had different meanings. it means a way some women use to mesmerize men so that they fall in love with them bcoz traditionally speaking as women cook they can add a "secret ingredient" that make food tastier. also sauce means a kind of swagg or uniqueness that women use to be more attractive. At 2:37 sauce literally means " my business/my man" as the woman with the baby came to catch her husband with another female in the pub and took him out with authority. finally it is traditionally acknowledge that sauce with chilli overdose excite people as U can see the man dancing on the table after a spoon of sauce..

You have to understand that "la sauce" meens a lot in most of the Africa continent... They cook many things that we would not eat in sauce, to make it good. So the sauce his everything. Since women spend very much more time cooking over there, a girl that makes good sauce win points, you know what I mean. The song turn around the making of the sauce, how precious it is... Nobody mess with otherwoman's sauce! (The reference in the clip his the women who get to a club with a baseball bat... ) I have just watched it 4 times and I reallllly like the song. I think I appreciate it more because I have been living with 5 Africans for the past year. You have to know few things on how life is over there to get how great the song and clip is!

First of all ,the music is a tipical traditional music basically from the Centre, Eastern and the Southern part of Cameroon . Cameroon has many other popular music's that are known all over the World like Makossa, Asiko, bottle dance etc . This particular music is called Bikutsi . She sang it in French and creole a language call pidgin which is a mixture of french and english that is also popularly spoken in Cameroon .La sauce in the context of the music means sex and love not actually a Sause like food to eat . The music is all about anything that concerns the youthful social circle of Cameroon and dans la sauce also have some thing to do with life between boys and girls , love , relationship and partying . And she explains about boys wanting sex from girls but at the same time the boys can not take good care of the girls so she is trying to say that girls should not offer sex to boys if they are not sure the boys can truely love and care for them, because the sauce is prepared with good spices , she mean the body and private , so it is just about social life so rounding the boys and girls in the society in Cameroon but it may also apply to other parts of the World . Also the music is about the life of the young girls and boys who will never like to miss an opportunity to go out and party with friends when ever there are call no matter how strict their parents may be, at the same time she is advising girls that they should not give out their sauce ( sex) soo easily to boys who are not serious when ever they are in party , because the sauce is prepared with all the nicest spices , their private and body in general . La sauce.

I've been waiting for the La Sauce reaction. Literally play this track everyday. Her hair is from New Zealand I think. What the queens have as a hairstyle, so her hair symbolises she's a queen. The track makes me dance everytime. "The chillies in the sauce, the flavourings in the sauce". 🔥

HarKFR The French people I know love this song and I know the lyrics. Thing is, this is a dance track for clubs and having fun, there's no need in being deep. She has a lot of tracks that have deep lyrics, this was just for partying.

The song la sauce it really means that she’s say the man is the sauce and she don’t want any of the women messing with her sauce , she says in French don’t put pepper in my sauce don’t add any more items to my sauce which is her man don’t touch my sauce that’s what the song is saying , i’m not from Cameroon , I’m Senegalese but we speak French same way

YOU GUYS NEED TO LISTEN TO IT WITH EARPHONES ON! I'm South African and live in Cameroon and even around here no one really knows what it means... With That being said, hères à bit of What she says. "Les hommes aiment les femmes à cause de la sauce" - men Love women because of The sauce ... What is clear is That The sauce has A sexual reference to it. Later she talks about the ingredients of the sauce "Le piment dans la sauce" (pepe/pepper in the sauce) -- but locally piment means women's lady parts... Again a sexual reference. She also says "ne mets pas tes dois dans ma sauce" - don't put your fingers in my sauce... Again can be construed to be sexual. So maybe sauce is sex? Again I urge you to listen with earphones on and with deep base you will love it!

Every music is situated within a cultural context and it takes people who understand such context to better appreciate what an artist does. Dans la sauce is a national anthem in Cameroon and will always stand the test of time. When soup don boleh massa fufu no fit pass, all thing for here na soup. Even President Biya was caught in the vibe last year

It was bikutsi. It was supposed to be dysfunctional. Bikutsi is used by many women who were raised around the Ewondo people to display sexual experience. Bikutsi means beating the earth. In essence, it's a woman beating her earth tale to the world. In sub-context. Bikutsi is a whole genre. You should probably check it out. It's very female and extremely... check it out.
