Gosh, this metro has the strangest-looking vehicles I've ever seen -look literally like boxes on wheels! Cool video :)
@BasedMHFan
@BasedMHFan 6 месяцев назад
I don't see boxes on the wheel also this is really strange looking. toulouse got a beautifull metro design for its 3rd subway line but it got a strange way to how its work its a automatic Subway working with iron system instead of pneumatic system also they said they could add "5 meters" or maybe more or less to the bottom of it

@@BasedMHFan You misunderstood. I'm not saying there are boxes on the wheels, I'm saying the carriages look like a box on wheels -i.e. the carriage is very cuboid-shaped to the point where it looks unrefined and comical.

Je comprends pas pourquoi la ligne B ralentis quand elle est sur le viaduc en tout cas elle roule moins vite .

@@SpectreMk2 i am not talking about the val 208,206 i am just talking about the cityval its just a overrated metro system its just too slow the average speed is 20-35kmh on rennes and it could be even worse on other citys and they are still voting for the neoval

Is this technically still a (VAL) rail vehicle? It uses a guided rail like Translohr, and has no support rails anymore. The only difference with Translohr is it has no driver, and a third rail. So in my view it's a driverless underground bus. 😇😜😎
@SpectreMk2

A "bus line", that can transport 15000 people per hour per direction. That's more than many "proper" metro line around the world.
@Subway2400
@Subway2400 Год назад
@@SpectreMk2 Metro lines actually carry between 40 000 to 60 000 pphpd. This new VAL is a glorified bus, more suited to serve airport terminals than cities. Moreover this is a proprietary technology, which makes any modification to accomodate standard vehicules costly, as it was the case with the unreliable TVR trams. This "Neoval" is nothing more than a Gadgetbahn.Toulouse made the right choice by choosing a standard subway which is not a proprietary technology.
@SpectreMk2
@SpectreMk2 Год назад
@@Subway2400 If you are talking about Singapour, London or Paris, these systems can indeed carry what you said, but with trains 3 to 5 time longer (so very costly station and infrastructures). Plus these cities are 10 to 20 time bigger than Rennes remember. Now systems like the DC metro (or Atlanta, or Chicago etc.), with train that can transport each 1500 persons but only run every 10 mins during peak hours on branches, you do the math and you will see they will carry less than 15000 ppl/hour/direction. No need to be angry at Rennes for having a very capable system for its relative small size.
@Subway2400
@Subway2400 Год назад
@@SpectreMk2 I'm not angry at Rennes. I can only tell you that France has a tradition of building tiny subways of a ridiculous size, fitted with a useless tyre technology. The only properly sized subway in France is in Lyon. Try riding a VAL 206 or 208 with people on-board, strollers, etc. and you'll change your mind. I ride them enough to know. There is a reason why other countries ordered a bigger VAL (the VAL 256) and not the original small one. Only Turin in Italy runs a VAL 208, because it's the french Systra engineering company that designed their subway, using french methods. I'm just fed-up of this French tradition of building Gadgetbahns that are quickly obsolete and undersized. Subways are the backbone of cities transit systems. They have to last for more than one century. They have to be large enough. Rennes could have built a tramway system serving many more parts of the city instead of one Gadgetbahn line. Bordeaux said no to the VAL and opted for trams that serve the city better. But things are slowly evolving, and Toulouse is a prime example of this : the new line will use standard subway methods, using a gauge large enough to allow good passenger flow inside the trains, and to accomodate enough passenger per train. And it will be fitted with steel wheels, not those useless, uncomfortable and energy-inefficient rubber-tyred wheels. You speak about US subways. I have to say that if they were properly operated and subsidized, they would run way better. They already feature generously-sized infrastructures and rolling stock. Improve the maintenance, invest in more trains along with a good CBTC system or automated system, and the US subways would crush the tiny French ones. Unfortunately, the US is still too car-centric for this to happen anytime soon.

@@Subway2400 Sounds pretty angry to me ;) Look at the transit ridership of cities with VAL, you will see it outperform French cities of comparable size with a tram. Additionally, Rennes has one of the lowest car usage of all cities in France, thanks to the VAL. Ligne b will only make things even better :)
