@@HattieKolp restored homes have more character in them and the history they have. Honestly, I love that more than the newly build ones that typically always have a few different layouts, but pretty much the same
Me too! Why turn a pre-war apartment into a monument to Ikea and neutral tones! It's given you such a lovely space to work with.Butler's pantries are so special, especially if you love to entertain.❤
When I was 6 my family sold our cottage that had been in the family for almost 70 years. They could not afford it anymore. I vowed to buy it back when I grew up. And when I was 20, I had enough money to buy it back. I painted and refurnished it just the way I remembered. It made my Nana so happy, and ever since we spend every summer swimming and having fun at that cottage.
Stunning work! Can’t wait to see the finished makeover. I wish more people would show their journeys with us. Sending you all a greeting of love, hugs and many blessings. LLL ❤
You’re right WAY too cool not to return to original passage to the dining room. Hurry up I can’t wait to see it! Just kidding..boy do I ever know how time consuming reno’s can be. Fabulous job 😊
I have seen most of your renovation videos , love the way you changed everything and made it your own and kept the original as much as possible, very smart renovations ; and the music almost from long ago , beautiful ❤ . My question is if you don't mind my dear your age ? I think you are just lovely.
Brilliant! I can't WAIT to see the entire property finished, staged and lit perfectly for atmosphere then filmed to thoroughly enjoy walking through with you. Great job so far.
I love what you do in your apartment, is such an inspiration. I wonder how much has your rent gotten up since that time you said you pay $1300. I hope you don’t mind me asking. I have a rent stabilized apartment but every time I renew the lease rent goes up a couple of hundreds.
Looks good ,your just expanding the space and its gonna look great! I like that wallpaper though. It will look more spacious even if its a tight area. Can't wait to see it! And I like how you decorate. A nice piece of stained glass would look great above that door.....
Its really cool. When i qas young i did already did was cover chairs or anything. You will love all this mire. It nice for you both. That was kinda nice wallpaper. Very nice so far. Very talented. My parents just past 60 years. They started doing things like this. They still date.that is a secret. Some time irs just a little ride to desert then picnic lunch then home. Yoy be in my prayes 💗❤️😎😎😎💙
Would love to see you replace the window in that door. I have a door just like that and need to replace the window but have no idea where to even begin. 😬
I want you to hurry up with your reno, but I also know how time consuming, and waiting on pieces you don’t find just anywhere. Your apartment is going to be beautiful!
To bad he's passed but my uncle used to make stained glass vintage transom. He made so many here in PA that he and his family would go on two vacations off his windows. They were gorgeous. But think about a stained glass transom/
@@dianegenx let’s ask questions and not judge shall we? If you’re new to my content you may not know that I would never demo anything unless I had absolutely no choice as I have built my entire career on restoration. Floor sloped 4.5” in places so not only the subfloor but every single joist needed to individual surgery to get the floor to even out
Be very, very careful!! After major renovations, landlords will often jack the rent because, as a result of your renovations, the 'property is now more valuable'.
It looks fantastic! Do you have a lot of rules and regulations that you have to follow because it's a pre-war building? I've heard that sometimes it's quite a nightmare! I love pre-war apartments and how quirky they can be. :) Good luck!
I found her FAQ on her website! She does not own, it a rent-stabilized apt. with her name on the lease, and she does not expect she will ever move out unless the owners of the building sell the whole building!
And this is what it means when they say ... not everyone starts adult life on a level playing field !!!! imagine a life where your HOUSING is given to you!!! (housing like this!! not a tent trailer from the 70’s😏) and especially during this horrific housing crisis. where most young adults spend 75% plus of their income on housing/rent. After paying insurance, transportation, phone bills etc nothing is left for food and of course any kind of clothing, entertainment, traveling and needless to say .. there’s no money to do any kind of renovations!! So as of now .. this is who is thriving ..people with $$$, people with generational wealth etc. where the rest of the population are struggling to afford to exist only. This is in no way ...LIVING!! This has nothing to do with this creator. just an example of how others live. I truly wish EVERYONE could be so privileged 😊❤️
"...previous renter..." I'm confused, do you own this apartment or not? I understand that generations take over apartments due to rent control, but wouldn't you be limited in the changes you can make?
