Really awesome that some folks could donate their time and equipment to help out with a project like this! Stuff like this really highlights how small communities can get some things done with a little generosity and elbow grease. I'm sure the coach and the maintenance team (who a lot of the time at small schools is the coach lol) will appreciate the improvements for years to come. Thanks for sharing Brock!
Love watching your videos, I am a baseball coach at a low income area on Native Reservation. We are working on restoring a very beat up semi abandoned baseball field
Making money is a necessity, but volunteering your time provides the reward you can get nowhere else. If everyone balanced their earning time with volunteering, this would be a much nicer world to live in. Also, if everyone participated, no single person has to put in an unreasonable amount of time. Good job, Brock!
Renovated a field a few years ago and only removed the compacted infield material on base lines about half way down and then added to the baselines about 2" of soil/sand mix to level all for good pitch before sodding the base lines. Second year we found that the root system was not getting down thru the remaining clay and we had a terrible time keeping the grass area strong and green. If had to do again, would have made sure we took all of clay infield material out of base lines and added 4"-6" of soil/sand mix before sodding over.
Yeah, small town ball field groundskeeper is a lonely job I initially gave them a bid for me to do this job and they didn’t have the budget for it so I decided to just help out It’s usually either one Coach or League president doing all the work himself
