Shooting your videos in 4K really bring the chateau to life. After 3 years, a special shout out to Robert, who gave up a career, sold his business and made a journey to a foreign country and has had to learn a new language all the while this adventure was not HIS dream, but he supported the family in their choice. Bravo Robert.👍
I really relate to the comfort of getting past so many of the “first times”. For the first time today, I passed a couple (in our town of Pau) as I was walking into town and they gave me a ‘bonjour’ before I saw them and they had big smiles on their faces. I was so surprised! They greeted me! It’s the little things that make us feel like we’re home.
You are really the best you tube channel about living in a chateau by far Excellent contents, videos I don’t understand why you don’t have more subscribers, maybe you should post once a week , I know I would love it
You live in the most magnificent Chateau with stunning surrounding gardens. It doesn't seem so long since you moved l am so happy for you all that your plans are all coming together. Thank you for taking us on your journey. Simply wonderful.❤
@@ladyofthechateau Yes, a generous comment. Probably more generous than the shocking "heart" you left to MnGirl1994 after she wrote about the shoddy work and the dishonesty of the French artisans and workers… I really hope for you that the artisans who use to work for you won't see your very "generous" approval.
Its so strange... i was looking at your website thinking...I wish they had a pool. I would love to stay there and be able to swim in summer time. Magical. So many guests will love this pool!
It seems like only yesterday that Penelope was draining and cleaning the pool, and then everyone joined in with various tasks such as putting pebbles in between the stones on the deck/terrace. How far you've come! I think that the upgrade is a good investment. The summers have become increasingly hot it seems. The pool will offer eco-friendly heat relief. I laughed at Caroline calling Troubadour a land animal and Wendell a water dog as well as at Penelope with her job title of resident mermaid. Maybe y'all will have water yoga workshops if there is such a thing. Or synchronized swimming. I think the maze is the crown jewel but it's hard to beat a water feature. I'm sure that it will be splendid!
Wow, the pool reno is its own documentary! It's going to look gorgeous. If Julia and Carolina will be housed in the new East Wing once it's finished, does that mean that everyone will get a permanent space so there will no longer be the need to move to accommodate workshop guests? That would be a huge benefit. Can't wait to see plans for the new layout of all the spaces!💚💗💛
It was great seeing Wendell splashing around in the unfinished pool! I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product... and hope Wendell is still allowed to use it! You all do such amazing work, so organized and thought out!
Oh Wow What a Big Job The Pool. It's Going To Look Fabulous When Done, It's Sometimes Difficult When You Want the workers To Speed Up and They Go at There own Pace Over Months, Will Look Fantastic With Plants and Plants In Pots. Xx 😘
The new pool really is a beautiful thing--"fit for a chateau," as Penelope says. From watching other videos about life renovating in France, it seems like you have to get used to long waits, part of the French style of relaxing don't rushing life, perhaps?
Here is my question: How in the world are you going to keep Wendell out of that beautiful pool? If he is anything like my yellow lab, he will live in it. Please make sure you have some kind of floating device in the pool in case he gets in trouble. Love your channel and look forward to your beautiful videos.
What an epic first project but it will be a pool/spa fit for a chateau! You'll enjoy decades of pleasure from this beautiful pool area! It will be worth the wait and I think you should fill it with champagne to christen it! HA! Not really but there should be several bottles of champagne at it opening! Cheers and Carry On!
Remember these delays and mistakes and pace when doing the reno on the big house and other outbuildings or landscaping. Good luck and anticipate the drama.
I adore your content . A mix of your individual stories, personal growth living in a new country and the creation of a family business. I can’t express how eagerly I look forward to a new video. I realize how much work is required to give us these small glimpses into this Chateau world you’ve created. From the bottom of my heart, thank you .
Your workshops look so enticing. The old pool appeared as if there would be constant maintenance issues. You will be happy with an entire new system and a spa that you can use beyond summer. You have a lovely family that works well together.
How exhilarating and calming to feel like you belong in your new culture. You’re settling into your workshop schedule which will become easier too! It’s a huge accomplishment.
Oh how ridiculously exciting! I literally can't wait to see the finished pool and surrounds...so glamorous and fitting for your beautiful chateau. Also, the paintings from the last workshop were wonderful! Your mum did such a fantastic job...Bravo! So looking forward to the next update...in the meantime, I'll just working on my rather tiny cantina renovation (still very exciting to me!) Bisous Marisa xoxo
So glad you reworked the pool. I don't think the old one could have been patched and it wasn't in keeping with such a grand home and wonderful family. I hope you all can enjoy it soon!
I think the word REST is an oxymoron in your vocabulary. This long conversation about having six weeks to rest followed by the list of tasks to be completed followed by the construction of the gorgeous pool-DID you rest???
Where to start? That painting workshop was divine -- the artist says his painting wasn't finished? He knows but the painting is full of the time - the time he was there working -- information, decisions. Well worth framing. I'm so impressed with his work and, as Caroline says, this workshop felt like an artist residency. And I love that Maruca is a real artist herself; it lends some depth to all the decisions about the workshops. And then the clear out of books? Keep some of those old geography books; it's fascinating to look back and see what was knowledge of an earlier period. I'd love to dig into that. Finally, the footage of the pool renovation from first to now is so well done. You really know how to edit a video (I've never done it but watched plenty!!!) You are all pulling together. One question -- has Rob found his niche in the village, among the French or expats? He left a very intense business for another intense business, totally different. Carry on as you are so beautifully doing right now!
RU-vid dumped my subscription, so I am just returning to see this after an absence. Nice to see progress in what you have been planning, not just with the pool, but also with your apartment. Once you have been able to go through all of the remaining artifacts and ephemera, would you consider inviting an auctioneer or brocante dealer to make an offer to remove what you don't want? Maybe there are some precious or necessary objects to retain for use at the chateau, but I'm sure that at some point you might need to just be free of the material burden. Anyway, congratulations on the successful completion of the painting workshop. Enjoy some rest and relaxation now!
@@kathit.275 I didn’t say that Lancelot’s death was irrelevant and you know that. The video that you linked and your comment are not relevant to this channel or video, which you are using/hijacking for your own agenda. Post the video on your own channel.
I have tears of joy, imagining what life was back in history at the chateau with dinner parties, and here you are bringing the chateau back to life!! Opulent table shapes and dinner parties. People enjoying themselves with wine and talk...beautifully done!!
🦘🦘🦘Good Evening from Queensland Australia. My gosh how far you’ve come and what you’ve achieved. Bravo. The pool is your stamp on the chateau. How wonderful I’m almost giddy with excitement from this video 🦘🦘🦘
Yes, I feel the same. Everyone has worked endlessly and look at all that's been achieved in only three years! A very late... or very early... 2.15am in Sydney. ❤🦘
Agree that the pool design is fit for a chateau ❤ Next summer, the first day it's hot and you jump in, the pain of getting it finished will be a distant memory. P.S. thanks for the reminder to buy a lottery ticket so I can attend one or 6 of your retreats 😅
I get so excited every time I see a new video has come out!! The pool is looking amazing and I can’t wait to see the finished product. I have been very concerned about the big glass door replacement and hope you guys will share that adventure a bit in the next video 🤞🏻
I liked your mother's painting much more than Carlos's. Hers was brighter. You all seem much more relaxed now. You guys are so cerebral in your approach to everything. It's working. Good grief, all that tile looked like you opened your own tile yard to sell to other customers. 😮
Let's hope that next summer you don't get as much rain and more pool type weather where you can enjoy the water and put all the stress behind you. As always i love the videos and i would like to ask where do all of you get your art knowledge from, clearly mamma is a painter but what about the rest of you.
I watch way too many chateau blogs, and unfortunately, the one thing I've noticed is that they have all had major issues with shoddy work from french trades people ( and often dishonest). Unless they use the highest end trades like lalande for the chapel, they end up bringing in people from England. As you start work on the buildings, I hope you are lucky and find talented honest companies to do the work.
In fact the workers in France have been both honest and a workmanship that is quite good. Our biggest issue is the timing but to be honest we have had a lot of issues with rain, strikes and holidays. In the other hand my sister in Texas has been dealing with a small mold issue in her home that has already taken 3 months and job is not moving forward.
Congrats on your Retreat success. Yes, watching DIYers in rural France they have a lot of problems with shortage of products and companies having a different timetable to yours and they move a lot slower, but overall they are very good.
Another great vlog. So interesting to see the progress being made on renovations and how you're adapting to life in France. The vlogs are thoughtfully put together and I enjoy them very much. Keep up the great work. I hope to visit one day.❤
I kind of sipped the atmosphere of the workshop and the masterpieces it brought to life, especially the allegedly not-yet-completed one. Not to forget the beauty of the dinner table. The Lady of the chateau is NOT a tramp! I also love the shape of the pool. This is really uplifting the place and so chateauy. Wish you all the best for its completion and every other coming project. I'll follow!
Lovely presentation beautiful photography, lovely messages you’ve come along way in the two years that you’ve been there it’s wonderful to see and be a part of from a distance
That will be an amazing new pool! Love that you shared all the thought you put into your decisions. I did get a little nervous seeing your cat and an enticing hole in the wall to explore. While visiting my parents my cat hid in the basement storage room and found his way into the ceiling of the room next door. We could hear him, but couldn't reach him. Thank goodness he found his way out! Hopefully your walls are solid stone. Your chateau is gorgeous, and your retreats look like they're elegant, but also a great experience. not just a vacation. Glad you can relax more and enjoy them now that you have some experience and feel more at home in France.
So happy to see another one of your videos! I always enjoy what you share with us. The pool and area around is going to be beautiful! Another great thing for your guest but also for all of yours relaxation and fun. The artists are very talented. I enjoy that you share their work with us. You're both extremely creative.
How I adore watching all of your gift come together to create such luxury in art and togetherness. How gifted you all are...and what a gorgeous pool "Fit for a chateau!" just as Penelope said!! You really are the dream team. So inspiring seeing you all realize your dreams of a chateau. 🏰🧜♀🎨
Loving the new pool design...look forward to see the completion. It will be stunning. Thanks for the update. The château & grounds are soooo beautiful ❤
You captured the activity , beauty and essence of what the workshop was like . Your editing was impeccable. Although I wish you vlogged more I have to say that settling down with a glass of wine and this much content is the best ! I hope you meet your goal with the pool soon - I can’t wait to see the finished product. It is going to be stunning! ❤
Heya Anne! We actually turned the billiard room into our breakfast and lunch buffet room for the retreats :) Thank you for commenting and sending you and your family lots of love!!! xo Caroline
Bonjour ladies and Robert… and the fur babies ! What an interesting video. So happy that all the hard preparation and the workshops went according to plans, leading to a success. Bravo tout le monde! Les travaux pour la nouvelle piscine avancent bien, ce sera magnifique ; j’ai tellement hâte de la voir terminée et dans toute sa splendeur ! Bravo et sincères félicitations ❤❤❤
