I love it!!!! Such a great mod! I know y'all are going to enjoy this! Charity, you are so positive and wonderful! Thanks for sharing your life and ideas with us! Jane ine SC❤🙏🐾
If you hinged the litter box door on the side away from the wall, the door could be used to hold up the mattress when you are cleaning the litter box. You might also want to use a litter grabber mat in front of the litter box so it grabs any sticky litter off your cat's paws. Remember to also keep some baking soda air fresheners inside the boxes in area so the litter stink doesn't impact the mattress.
There a stud finder (metal and wood) that also detects AC wires. I just found this out because I plan on buying this tool and a moisture detector when I go RV shopping in the next 30-45 days. The pinless moisture detectors go crazy around metal…..hence also having a metal stud finder since many RVs have aluminum studs.
And I use a scoop type cat litter fresh dip which has odorized in it too I know one of my other RU-vidrs I watch he travel he used to travel to capital what was cats passed away he used wood shaving pellets from home Depot or Lowe's or whatever and uses it for his litter box and then he has one of the litter box you just shake shake stuff down and he takes dog poop bag just to scoop out the poop
I love your videos. One thing I would love to hear from you is how you have delt with Alaska and all the ticks, bugs and various dog issues in states that have such obstacles for dogs and their human counterparts. Thank you for all the information you share!
Best solution for out of season clothes storage I ever saw was to use throw pillows and bed pillows with zippers, and take out the foam. Stuff the clothes, like parkas, etc., in them. Can also use them for extra linens and towels.
Nice reno for the growing kids! Will you put up some sort of curtin for individual privacy? Thanks much for sharing! We want to remove our smaller jacknife sofa across from queen sleeper sofa to install a televator cabinet and storage. I was thinking about what to do with the 2 heat vents built into the bottom of the jacknife sofa. I think you answered it. Thanks again! Happy travels!
Why not put on a swinging door under the bed so you can open it to change the cat litter without having to pick up the mattress? I suspect that is going to get old and perhaps a bit messy! But the beds look great! And what kind of a DIY project would it be if you didn’t screw something up at least once!!!
If you don't fix the wires that caused the breaker to trip, you leave a potential fire hazard. That section of wires should be repaired or replaced, IMO.
They make some pointer type sensors that will beep when electricity is near. Some will even detect through walls. The electricity needs to be on for the wires. You could do that prior to screwing into the walls. It may give you some idea of where not to drill/screw. :)
What is especially nice is you (sort of) explained that these beds will also act as sofas for gathering on cold or rainy days. I'm wondering why two underbed doors flip up and two open out? Is it because of the width of the doors? After the kids have had a chance to use these for a while I hope you will let THEM tell us what they like (and dislike) about the new arrangements and what they would like to see done differently. Your kids are good sports and it would be nice after all these years of RV life to have their feedback. Right now this looks like an optimum arrangement and I can tell they are really happy for this mod.
I use for our litter box when I have it in any RV they have at Walmart and they have it at the 99 cent store which I don't know if you have any or out your area they have these big containers it's almost like the alarming crystals with this for cat litter crystals that keep it with the cat litter at Walmart I take that and I take carpet powder and I sprinkle it in the litter box and mix it all up and that's what I use of my cat litter box and nobody can smell any kind of mess in there in the house
I love your ingenuity and fearlessness with making mods! Thinking about those underbed doors that lift up- you might find the space easier to access if the doors are hinged at the bottom and open out to lay on the floor. Or put in a gas strut to hold them up?
YOU SHOULD LOOK AT HOW SOME FOLKS PUT VENTS NEAR CAT BOXES IN RV SO IT HELPS WITH SMELLS .( SORRY FOR CAPS I HAVE M.S. IT GAVE ME VISION LOSS SO NOT YELLING ) ALSO THEY NON LIQUID FRESHENERS NEAR BOXES LOVE KATHLEEN
The cat potty is not the most accessible. I probably would have put the litter box on a slide where you can open it from the front side. with two cats You're emptying what every other day? But if lifting up the bed is easy enough for you then that's going to be great. I think this is going to suit the teens really well!!
Any thoughts to using a stud finder with a wiring sensor? They are designed to tell you where AC wiring is located. For DC wiring you can use a Hare and Hound to trace wiring ...
WOW ! Such a practical and BIG difference, the area appears more open and larger with out the bunkbed. I would think that removing bedding and lifting the mattress to get into the cat litter box every day or even every other day will get old real soon. But, only after you have lived with your decisions do you know which ones were good and not so good, and if not good, that means more mods on the way. Thank you for sharing..
Yes that was my thought. The kids have no privacy at all in there home, especially for a girl. Just kind of sad this lifestyle you have chosen does have some challenges especially raising teenagers. Just my opinion.
The day beds look like they fit in the same space as the bunks- where did the extra length come from and are the 2 sides the same length? (If you keep feeding those kids, this could happen again!)
The extra length comes in where the bunks were with being able to have the mattress from wall to wall vs the bed frame. The 2 sides are the same length.
All outlets are gfi protected. Glad you found the breaker. We took out our one sofa an put in a huge tv an tv stand an it was no where near the weight of the sofa. I had to mod the vent also! Have you ever done a floor ( remove carpet/ tile an put in pergo flooring? We really want it done but are afraid to do it.
The best way we tackled our cat litter box smell at home was a litter robot. But not too compact for motor home traveling. We fear of doing a project because it may turn into a “Project” we regret.
