#farmhouse #homesteading #renovation #simpleliving #selfsufficiency.
In tonight's video we are processing some wood and we show you how to set a beam out of a log for the future work shop.
Also we chip the brush for the homestead ready for our paths. Then we start to process the fallen apple tree using the brush as chippings and the branches for firewood and planking the trunk for making beautiful things for our homestead.
Follow our journey renovating an abandoned ancient old farmhouse we bought and creating a off grid homestead by being self-sufficient growing our own food and creating an orchid for fruit, managing our own fire wood with our two woodlands to give us free heating and hot water and making every thing we need in our renovation like the doors, windows, floors, staircases, Kitchen, panelling, bathroom, porch, and many more projects as I'm a Carpenter & Joiner using my skills to build this dream which you can see in lots of our videos we have all ready loaded up on our channel and also we will be sharing our crafts and also Tracy will be doing all the soft furnishings in our farm house on our homestead. So come join Tracy and I Budo on this amazing journey and way of living.

I don’t know if you guys have a charcoal grill or some kind of barbecue, but local stores around here charge quite a bit for apple tree chips to burn in the grill when cooking meat for dinner, especially pork, so don’t give it all away or just use it for compost, lol. Plus, it smells divine while it burns.

You are such a smart carpenter and farmer with detailing the measurements for cutting beams and lumber. In America we have measures of "board feet" to give quantities, but I assume that is a finished dried wood product or is it? Anyway, I love the "medieval" measuring tricks you show. By the way, do you measure a yard, 3 feet, stretching a string from your nose to the tip of your fingers? works for me!!! More power!
@FrenchFarmhouseDiaries
@FrenchFarmhouseDiaries 4 месяца назад
Hi Wren I'm an imperial measurement person my self so yes i use board feet, cubic board feet, and cubic yard and inches and feet on the rule that's all English Imperial by the way as well as all metric as we are in France Europe i know you guys over the pond say 4 quat for 1" and things like 8 quat for 2" but in England the old school lot say 1" or 2" or 1/4 1/2 3/4 using 1/8s and 1/16 down to 1/32 or even 1/64 i just love this measuring system and always have thank you for your great question Wren all the best Budo 🍺🤠👍🏻

We used to pay deposits on them ( and generally had to chase the credit) > Now we just cut the base when dropping MOT or sand/gravel whilst the waggon hangs over your workspace. I understand taht you orient the faster growing side up on the beam upward because that way the direction of the bow (crown?) in the beam will be upward. Is that because the growth is denser on the slower growing side and therefore stronger, less able to bow?
