There are so many moral concerns that come to mind when considering outsourcing surrogacy. I pray more people would instead adopt children already here and in need of loving families rather than create a market out of surrogacy and risk psychological harm to young, poor women willing to sell the use of their bodies in this way. Why must genes matter so much? Parenting can, and in my mind should, go far beyond that.
What I don't understand, why so many negative comments, women who are selected for surrogacy have been going under medical examination and blood test after which they have been considered fit to undergo through surrogacy, the woman is only renting her womb to nurture the baby, of course payable due to their poverty but the result is priceless to those parents whose dream have been successful and now became a complete family. They are now being called Mum and dad.I'm sure, after having spent large sum of money to gynaecologist, bearing all the failures, this was their last attempt. Thanking this institution for realising their dream to become parent's of their own child.
It's easy for people to say "oh why don't you just adopt." Adoption is not for everyone. It takes a special kind of person to adopt, you have to have a big heart and be very open minded. Truth is not everyone can imagine themselves loving or raising a child that is not theirs biologically.
I completely agree that no one at all should have to live in poverty because it’s a trauma in and of itself. However the emotional turmoil that is inflicted on the surrogate mothers and the babies is unacceptable regardless of how much money they are paid. Humanity will have to answer for this. I don’t blame the surrogate mothers. But my heart breaks 💔 for them and the children. The parents who receive the children can never know (and probably don’t want to know) the effect this has on mothers and babies on a deep unchangeable level.
Yes every prospect parent should thank Indian surrogates for helping us. Even I got my baby through surrogacy process only. My heart full thanks to Rajitha ( Surrogate Mother) and even to Weecare Surrogacy for great services and support through out the cycle.
This is horrible because the parents could reject the babies if they end up with mental or disabled issues from birth...those babies then end up in the orphanage...sad...very sad...this is all about money!!
India must work on to make surrogacy legal and must make laws that will ensure the safe procedure in terms of clinical as well as legal. No rights must be breached. For example, Ukraine has made appropriate that protects the rights of surrogates as well as the intended parents.
The fact is that these people who are renting out the wombs of women have had multiple generations in the form of their predecessors of successful and comparatively wealthy families. Now that they have waited to reproduce and start families for the reason of enjoying their splendor in the form of good education and comfortable lives they realize that for whatever reason they can’t conceive and choose to interrupt the lives of women who haven’t even had 1% of the opportunity they have had. That is nothing less than typical exploitation of the less fortunate by others who took everything they had for granted. Entitlement to the moon and back.
If someone is getting the help in their fertility life them there has to be no such issue. It feels great to know that so many states are looking forward to helping infertile individuals to seek their fertility help. I feel thankful that all such people still exist that considers overcoming the infertility terms.
Hey. It is an amazing process. My friend was infertile. She wanted to be a mom badly. She ha no other choice. Because IVF failed for her. In the end, she decided to go for surrogacy. She has a baby now. She is a happy mother.
Isn't it better if we see it the other way around? Like how being a surrogate helped Opina to improve her lifestyle. I believe being a surrogate is just wonderful. When I had my surrogacy process, I took care of my surrogate mother a lot. I'm still thankful to her for carrying my child. This negativity should stop, really. Surrogacy should be appreciated.

Research shows that babies by the time of birth have learned to recognize their mother's voice - they can hear in the womb. There are bonding hormones produced naturally during pregnancy that cause the mother to bond to the child, even though she has no legal right to the child later. It may be pscychologically harmful for the mother and baby to be forcibly separated at birth. Yes, the surrogate was paid, but it is not only the womb that was rented - it was her self, and you can't just truly separate out one organ of her body and rent that - her whole self is involved, often more than she expected. Also, there are risks to her health if she is implanted with multiple eggs, so perhaps she carries triplets. And if she already has had other children - is it right for her to stay at a clinic away from her family for all that time? There is a book, Broken Bonds: Surrogate Mothers Speak Out, by Jennifer Lahl, which helps one to see the other side of the story. Maybe not everyone is as happy as it may appear. The surrogate mother also has to take strong doses of hormones that may be harmful in order to be a surrogate.

I am a mother myself. I can nor simply perceive this Idea. That one cannot detach a birth mother from a baby. One of my distant cousins lives in Ukraine. She told me where the laws were lenient regarding surrogacy. She was visiting Biotexcom in Kyiv. They are one of the leading infertility Centre in Europe. She said they helped her bond with the surrogate. To help both of them accept each other. Now she meets the surrogate mother with good will. Also, the family helps her in every possible way within their means. It's good that they created a respectful relationship.
Indian surrogates are really great. They are very selfless. They are helping a lot of people. Having money is not the only privilege. There are other factors too. its great people are so helpful. Rushing their lives. I had mine from Ukraine at biotexcom. Good luck to and please take care.
Not all clinics are same! Some people have good experiences and some have bad in India! My friend had a worst experience there! She moved to Ukraine! She went to Biotexcom for her surrogacy. It went out really well. So it varies from clinic to clinic.
Because you'll never know if they really chose it or if they were forced to do it as India is a male dominated country their father husband brother or whatever can force them to have money.
i think that this conditions where surrogate mothers live during pregnancy are not appropriate at all. i know that our gestational carrier from Ukraine lived in her own place with her family up to the 30th week of pregnancy.after that, she was provided a separate apartment closer to the clinic where she stayed until the delivery

So I'm sorry we disagree, but I'm looking at it from the perspective of an unwanted child who was given a better life thanks to people who took me in, even at great expense and inconvenience. I'm so glad she could buy her own place with that money. I heard women are underpaid in India for their surrogacy. But watching this kind of made me happy. This is not only helping the IPs but also the women living in India. They could make proper clinics in India just like in Ukraine. Ukraine has a great clinic where surrogacy is extremely affordable.
If people care so much about poor women and children why are we still refusing to help them without a demand of some reciprocity towards ourselves? Is life itself and the peace and joy of knowing that mothers and children can thrive not enough? Why?
surrogacy is such a safe procedure but it should be under laws and rules. The proper legal contract should be made for it. surrogates must sign the contract also. I a undergoing my surroigacy procedure at biotexcom clinic and it has a proper procedure. We have signed a legal contract. And everything is written there on contract, we both have copies of it so i feel safe. I am hoping the journey goes well.

If you visited India and saw the appalling conditions that many of these women live in, the amounts of children they have and are often mistreated by their husbands then this would be a means to get out of poverty. One lady has a lovely home, cooking utensils and can now send her children to school so they will not be in the same situation as she and her family were. Women are married off young without much say. If this gives them independence financial freedom then it is better than nothing.
Yep I know. As far as western country people don't feel really concerned... To me it is revolting to know that some women are forced to get pregnant, it should be something you really want... Besides once a man earn money by forcing a woman he'll probably do it again so they are forced more than one time...

Surrogacy also provided in the india(chennai) as well. I agree with most things you've said. Surrogacy is definitely a great procedure. IUI and IVF are other methods for infertility treatment. However, I still think the best option is going for experienced clinics. Most of them are in Europe. So even if you have to pay more and go abroad, you should. Safety is guaranteed and what more could you want? Thank you for this informative video.

I dream of having my own babies for a very long time, my wife is desperate, so I'm praying for surrogates who are gonna help us! India's banned surrogacy recently, so IPs like me and my wife hope for Europe, and the matter is not the price though it's TOO EXPENSIVE in US, it's due to some legal items we do like about Ukraine, as well as the level of living among the European countries that offer surrogacy.
The truth is that Seagate mothers are as much the mothers as the as embryo parents, so then who's to say who's baby it is. personally I don't understand those who claim that surrogacy is immoral, wrong or 'rent-a-womb for money'. what if this is the only way out? what if there is no other option? my dh and I can't conceive a baby naturally. in 2015 I had placental abruption on the 29th week of pregnancy. the fetus was removed along with the uterus... I can't carry my own child! and that was killing me! surrogacy was the only option for us! we found a clinic in Ukraine and went there without any hesitation. our little girl is almost 1! so stop judging, bc surrogacy makes people happy!
It's disheartening to see surrogacy being discussed in this light. It's not a bad procedure. It's helped so many people. It's created a lot of families. However, the process isn't being done in the right in India. It still shouldn't be banned in India. They need to create a proper set of laws regarding it, though.

Naming this procedure with weird names is not nice. It really makes a bad image of it. The whole process is messed up in India. I am glad I've chosen a clinic in Ukraine for my surrogacy. They really handle everything with care.
india should be aware of this process properly. There are also health risks for surrogate mothers. They are also human. Laws should be created and followed properly. Like countries in europe and clinics like Biotexcom are following the prope laws and precaautons befor eopting the surrogacy for a cuple.
I understand our country is not that privileged and people do it for money but sometimes foreigners just dont accept a baby that has some health issues. Moreover, there are many orphans to adopt please give them a new home. 🙏

They just changed the rules in India. The couples who now can hire a surrogates must now be a heterosexual MARRIED couple, that has been married for 2 years. So now some singles and same-sex couples are going to Mexicio for their surogacy needs!
Yes and if they dont have a big heart then dont do surrogacy either. They are getting sorry buying an easy baby and I dont think so there will be a motherly attachment towards the surrogate baby either.

I think that for a women who can't have babies at all surrogate mother can a good alternative to have their child but the problem is that in India women's are kind of compelled to do it for survival, it's like they doesn't have the choice and THAT is horrible. Some people can consider that by doing it westerners women are helping indian surrogates to improve their living conditions but to my mind it is just exploitation like you need something and you can have it because you have money... Amazing work! Its the part of life. I am from Japan. I am also infertile. We moved to Europe in search of a very good clinic. We didn't found a good clinic in Europe. We moved to Ukraine than. In Ukraine we found a BioTexcom clinic. It has many good reputation. As i am sharing my direct experience with you all. We found a good surrogate. Now she is pregnant with our two daughters. Soon we will have two daughters.
This is honestly a bad portrayal. Surrogacy is not as bad as it sounds. It's overly exaggerated. India is suffering that is true. But the people in command should be improving the system. Rather than banning it completely. Surrogacy is a great process. Please don't put it in such a bad light.

This is amazing, the concept is inspiring. Though the only thing I kinda didn't like about this is that many (not generalizing these surrogates) hate to give up the baby after they give birth to it. The ENTIRE point of it is to help a person or couple conceive and deliver a baby of their own. Sure, if you're a surrogate you conceive, go through all the physical and emotional changes that pregnancy brings but one must not forget it is someone else's baby they're carrying, not their own. It's totally understandable why they develop an emotional bond with the baby, but the baby wasn't meant for them and is not their blood. However, they do have good hearts, intentions and have strong will power to use their body for someone else's gain. I totally support it.
N Mil It's funny that you said that the baby wasn't meant for the couple because the whole point of the deal was that the surrogate was getting paid to have the baby for them, LOL! Besides the baby was developed from the couple's genes not the surrogate's, don't blame the woman because her body prevented her from carrying her own kid.
N Mil I understand what you mean by the real parents are the ones that are most suited to care for the child. In fact, I know first hand because I was raised by my maternal grandparents because my mother had me too young and she was too immature to give me the care that I needed and my dad was a lowlife. Even to this day I still call my grandparents momma and daddy because they were the ones who were there for me and changed my diapers. On the other hand, I have read that book (The Giver) and I do believe that society is advancing way too much in technology for it's own good, and unfortunately the wrong people take advantage of it. Some people that have these procedures done use it for selfish reasons and don't need the kids, I have to agree with that but there are some people who can't have children such as infertile couples or same sex couples and are willing to give their all to raising a child. But as for single people resorting to this practice just to have a child without giving the thought to actually commit for the sake of the child, I understand.
Mark Gailmor Exactly! No matter how they were conceived, be it natural conception or reproductive assistance, these are still human babies! Not robots! Regardless of the conception, they were all conceived the same way any other child would have been conceived. Just outside of the womb, in a Petri dish but it still is a CHILD resulting from a human ovum and sperm cell. They were not "engineered", we're talking sexual reproduction. Not science projects...
Monica M Right. We're not living in the Matrix just yet. So children are conceived the same way whethere it's a conventional relationship of we need a bit of extra help by asking a woman to carry our child for us. What I find fascinating is that you can often choose where the egg comes from. I was intrigued myself and found one organization that is based in California but has contracts with women in Mexico. And what i read on their website is that you can choose from four different locations regarding your eggs. My maternal ancestry is in Russia so if I were to do this I could choose Kiev. That woman, who generously donated her eggs, would then fertilize my sperm and a woman from Mexico would carry my child for nine months. This is fascinating. As is all life. Nothing engineered. The only thing engineered, that most doctors don't want to do, is to merge sperm as in the case of two men who want their child to have both sets of genes. This technology has been perfected in a lab but doctors don't want to do it for legal reasons. Imagine if you are in a gay relationship and you decide to split. Yeah, I know, how is this different from a conventional marriage, right? It's not but it can get confusing for a child who decides to research his geneology one day. Doctors don't know how his/her dna may show up in research charts. And it's possible that the dna from one male may dominate the dna of the other male and therefore may not give an accurate reading. Like I said, this is the only thing engineered with surrogacy and doctors don't even like to do it.
Obviously it must be very difficult for these women to give up the baby after, but they don't allow the women to do this if they are a first-time mother. If I were in their situation, I would probably become a surrogate as well. You are helping a couple who can't have a baby on their own, and you're well-paid for it! Win-win. These women aren't being forced to do this.
As a woman and a mother of two children from a prior marriage and who had 4 miscarriages and has been infertile for ten years and having met a financially stable man who wants nothing more than to have a child of our own I could still NEVER DO THIS TO ANOTHER WOMAN. I was separated from my own 2 children on and off for years and still am (partially) for reasons that are too much to go into here and I can’t even begin to tell the stress and pain that ensues from being separated from children who you carried and gave birth to. This is an abomination.
To all who think this is a helping poor indian women get a better life: there must be better ways than that, other ways. It´s almost like saying: okay, if the money is right she might as well sell her daughter to sex-tourists or anything like this. Where does it stop? If you want to help them, find another way.
People are so hardheaded about giving women a real chance at success outside of using their bodies in some form or fashion. I don’t know what it will take to change the hearts and minds of people on this issue. There are so many women who have so much to offer besides their looks, fertility, company etc but hardly anyone wants to accept it. Even the religious people who are at least right about the fact that this is ethically wrong still only want women to have career and financial opportunities after they have paid their debt to men/society by being wives, companions, mothers etc. Women are so much more than our bodies.
