This is literally the utopia of RU-vid comment sections lol. Not many people have the power to make RU-vid comment sections clean like steve does. Everybody is so nice and we all just love steve. He's the Bob Ross of camping.
You can tell beautiful wife is there. He seems much happier in this video. (Wow thanks for all the thumbs up and the reply from beautiful wife. That made my day)
Hey, I hunker down in my pink sleeping bag, to Steve's videos, every night. You WILL be one with the Borg...you will ALL be one with the Borg!! Lol - I wonder if Steve & Crazy Neighbor realize just how MANY of us have started entering a room with a spread-eagle, jumping jack move, popping up tents in our homes, and hunkering down in sleeping bags, with Step 2s, in strange places...
Ha ha same. I have told a few friends about the camping channels I watch on RU-vid and they all look at me like I'm nuts. A few of them have since confessed they're now into it too lol.
Steve is such a humble and kind person, whose enthusiasm for camping is contagious - there is such a sense of happiness and gratitude in his videos that you can't help but just feel good when you watch them. It's like getting out of the city on an adventure with a good friend... a wonderful escape, experienced from the comfort of our own homes. I think the best part, is that it really feels like Steve is just being himself - not putting on a character, not pandering, no script. The effortlessness in his presentation speaks volumes. I follow other RU-vidrs who clearly put on a persona, and there's nothing wrong with that, but Steve comes across as genuine as a human can possibly be. It's refreshing, because our encounters with genuinely good people feel fewer and farther between, these days.
You can always tell when it's Beautiful Wife behind the camera. Steve gets these little smiles, it's probably as close to 'giddy' as we're ever gonna see him.
Hey steve and Beauti6wife! I'm watching from oldest videos so I'm slow.. so truth be told... I'm 50 and female disabled.. I have to spend half days in bed .. but I found your videos and the camping and really love the wife! You guys are a younger version of me and hubby 30 years ago.. I just finished. Amazing wildlife video. It was so adorable how both you and beautiful wife saw a new born deer and mom.. I caught myself trying to get mom back in forest! It really shows how you both love nature.. and probably why you do it! Thank you so much.it means a lot to me .. sorry so long...
Cheers to beautiful wife! I love that she is there with you and how you respect her privacy while still giving her credit. She is my favorite part of your vids! (No offense to you steve, I am often the wife on offbeat camping trips as well and I love every second with my crazy husband)
Wife here: This comment absolutely made my evening. Thank you so much. I'm glad there are others like me who enjoy the wildest of camping trips with their best friend. Thank you so much for supporting Steve!!
@@jessh4417 I am so glad I could brighten your day if even a little bit with my comment. I also know from watching Steve that you are a teacher (not a stalker I promise 😅) but as a mom of 2 little ones I know teachers are absolute heroes! I hope Steve keeps making these awesome videos and you keep being beautiful wife offscreen! 👍 best wishes from the states!
If anyone deserves to get sponsored on you tube its you buddy. You are a genuine person and you seem extremely humble and enjoy sharing your adventures. As long as you post i'll watch lol. Have a good one!
I bet there is a lot of first time camping going on because of Steve's videos. A lot of tents and sleeping bags, etc are selling too. This is the perfect time to camp like Steve who has been social distancing since before anyone heard of it. I camped in a tent for several years and I want to share my favorite item. Bring a small window air conditioner and put it on a milk crate outside the window of your tent. Aim the vents to blow into the window and run the a.c. day and night. I've even seen tents these days with an a.c. spot built in for that very purpose. I cooled my tent that way back in the 90's. Every other camper will be jealous in their hot, stuffy tents while you snooze away in a cool tent.
@@brycebullard3619 I’ve just watched every video of Steve’s after discovering his account. Ordered a hammock and planning on hitting some stealthers seen as in England there are no campsites just farmers fields and about 100 metres of woodland max
One of my fave parts of every one of Steve's video's is to see what feast he cooks up. I love watching Steve because he is so relatable and feels like a normal person like all of us. Deffo one of my fave channels on youtube and I look forwards to his videos every thursday. Thanks alot Steve, you're a great guy!
Hey uhaul just called . what's the GPS location on that van we just rented to that. RU-vid guy Steve wallis . Where it is there are no roads.just bigfoot.
@Eat mor Chikin whats funny to me is I fell asleep watching youtube one night, and I randomly awoke at 3am to a video of this man living in a Uhaul for some reason. Now the family watches together.
Hell yea brother I love the videos! Keep it up ✌🏻I myself am a 17 year old kid from Edmonton too and me and my buddy “stealth camped” in the bush somehwere near the mall one time because of your videos 😂 we built a lean to and cooked up some sausage and rice. Best experience ever. Much love 👊🏻
Wife here: This is probably my favorite comment on this video. I'll make absolutely sure that it gets to Steve. So glad you guys had that experience. Keep living the dream (as legally as possible), camping is the absolute best. Thanks so much for supporting Steve!
The sound of the rain is peaceful.... would make me want to sleep. Doesn’t take much with a step 2 lol. Muddy roads are much more fun when the vehicle doesn’t belong to you
I just bought my first thermacell at bass pro shop because of how much you say they work wonders for you. My wife always gets eaten up on our porch and I didn’t know what to do for her. But man after the first 2 days of using it she hadn’t been bitten once. It’s amazing. The refills are a little pricey but we figured it costs less than $1 a day to keep the mosquitos away and that’s a price I’d easily pay. I love this thing.
When I was a kid in the 90's we went on a road trip down the ALCAN highway starting up near Whitehorse. Our motor-home broke down within 30 miles of town, so we limped it back to town. It was July 1st, so everything was closed. We ended up bringing it to Canadian tire to get the water pump replaced. We had to stay in town for the long weekend.. I was from a small town in Alaska, so Canadian Tire was the coolest store I had every been to. I still have fond memories of Canadian Tire, and everything Canada.
It's so wonderful to see beautiful wife along behind the camera (I understand, lol). What a gorgeous camp trip, thank you for taking us along! If I could, I'd donate to the "second step", but I'm laid off currently, being very cautious. Anywho, thank you again and camp on!!
Wife here: Please don't EVER feel like you need to donate! We are truly so grateful to have you along for the ride. So glad you enjoyed the video! And thank you for being kind and understanding of my choice to remain off camera. Thank you, also, for supporting Steve.
@@jessh4417 Thank you so much for your understanding and response! We all love you two and so supportive, as we can be, of all your efforts. HUGS to you, Beautiful Wife! I Totally understand the "off camara" (I would be the same) and know you're as beautiful on the outside as you are within your Beautiful, Kind Heart!! Thank you again and I'll donate as soon as I can, as I love this channel!! Be safe and God bless!!
Steve Wallis- I decided to go back and watch some of your earlier videos...its pretty amazing to see how far you have come. Specifically your Boon docking video, in your $1,000 RV on Vancouver Island. Your anger with the world and the hard times you were dealing with, it seems like you have been through a lot. And then watching this video here, and seeing how much happier and established in life you are. You have come a long way and I appreciate how your life experiences give you character and wisdom. I look forward to Thursdays, when your next video comes out. Cheers!
Looks like an awesome time Steve! Me and a couple guys have been best friends for 12+ years and do an annual camping trip Labor Day weekend (live 500 miles apart now and meet in the middle) and watching your videos gets me pumped after each one! Going to try to get out with the wife more often than usual for some one nighters too, we’ve slowed down quite a bit. Cheers to you and thanks for another awesome video!
I've gone from the algorithm suggesting this guy, to me being obsessed with his videos, to now considering taking my kid camping next summer. Hunker doon and step 2 are now also in my daily vocabulary. Thank you Steve
@@caitgems1 Funny, I have always car camped and at a campgrojnd camped. Recently got into backpacking camping. Then I watch Steve and his solar panel and full cookware. Now I want to car camp again. Who knows? Sleeping outside and being in Nature is good in any form.
My pregnant wife and I were vacationing in Alberta when she starting having contractions. We went to Canadian Tire and they had everything we needed for the birth! Wife and newborn son are doing great, time for Step 2!!!
I have learned more form you in the last week of watching your vids than I did from my dad in his whole life. You are doing the lords work, sir. Thank you.
I stumbled on your channel about 2 weeks ago and I have to say I love it, just started some car camping myself in Vancouver and your videos have helped so much, keep it up!
Here in 2023 catching up on videos I haven’t seen. It is a little sad though knowing beautiful wife is no longer with us. I know Steve has been through a lot in the last year. My thoughts and prayers continue to be with him.
We did just that in a Grand Caravan in the 4 corners region of the US in the 90’s. Had to sign something promising we won’t take it off road and proceeded to drive the coulees to the North rim of the Grand Canyon 😬. It worked out so well we bought one upon returning home and took a few months crossing Canada. We had the best times in Big Blue 🚙. Watching your channel brings it all back. Thanks for that.
Steve. I paused the video as soon as you said you found a sale on solar panels. Went to the canadian tire website and found what you were talking about. Regular $549.99 on sale for $169.99. Last one in the city of Winnipeg . I bought it online. It should be a good starter panel for my truck camper. Thanks buddy. I hope I dont have trouble with it.
I like that (to my extent of knowledge) Beautiful Wife was a charming hand model that would aid Steve in his journeys and who both loved each other more than anything. Enough to turn a guy's life around from living in a car, to owning a vast amount of land where he creates his own world with his crazy neighbor.
Awesome video as always Steve!!! Keep the videos coming!!! I used to camp all the time in all kinds of places while I was in scouts!!! Your videos definitely make me want to get back out there!!!
Yaaaaaaay! My first "Thursday" with Steve. I've been watching the catalog and it's a good one! I haven't watched this one yet, i'm saving it til after dinner. So happy :)
We do it with a dry ice cooler Steve. 7 days in and we are breaking up bags of cubes that are frozen cock stiff. We leave when the welding supply store opens. We get about four inches in the bottom of a marine cooler and then cover it with cardboard and then bags of cubes and blocks. We go for 10 days and have to empty ice out because we don't want to carry it out. If you ever want to do some real camping in Ontario, let me know.
Hey Steve.. I just found your videos... their amazing. Love to camp.. shout out to your amazing wife!!! It's great she wants you to follow your passion.. I started with your oldest videos. Seeing how you started.. you should be so proud of how you are doing! Way to go Steve and Wife!!!
I love your cooking. The foodies of the world scare me out of the kitchen with their finicky procedures and "gourmet" ingredients. I watch your assured approach to simply good food and - YEAH! Plus cooking outdoors somehow always adds to the flavor. Thanks for the inspiration.
Whenever Steve starts settin' up camp, his step 2 is actually my step 1. And 2. Thats why I often end up just sleeping in the truck. So I just bought one of those Gazelles and it ROCKS! Plus mines cooler than his because its green. Thanks again Stevo!
That breakfast egg burrito was some of the most unexpected god-tier cooking ive ever seen, just nonchalantly making an awesome dish in like a minute while giving a shoutout to the beer donations, what a baller.
Steve, just came back from a Beautiful Strathcona Provincial Park backpack. Brought a Thermacell--it was absolutely magic! The girls said what is that? I said, something Steve told me to bring. Thank you! I will never go camping without a Thermacell again---unless it's below 0C.
Steve: "I'm not too worried about bears, I do have my bear spray so it shouldn't be a problem." Also Steve: lights campfire with a flamethrower. Yeah, don't worry Steve, pretty sure those bears are more scared of you than you are of them 😅
It is morning in Sweden. Woke up and started to watch this video. Tonight it was pretty cold so I stay at a parking spot for RV, with my campervan. We got electrical heat during the night - it is nice, a cost of 100 sek... AND I going to get a lot of coffee too. Keep do those camping video - love them
I’m a Michigander, and I think Canadian Tire is a wonderful place. Wish we had them here. Thanks for the great tip about the Thermacell & the big butane cylinder. I just bought a tabletop Thermacell, that I had already decided to return due to the cost and number of butane cylinders needed. I will spring for the hiker’s model & the giant butane source.
We really enjoyed your adventure. We bought the Dometic CFX3 55IM (the ice freezing shelf was the selling point.) Love having the hard frozen ice cubes for our afternoon Step-2. Also today we just received a Thermacell Radius Zone Mosquito Repellent that runs on a USB charged battery. We will see how that goes. Keep up the great videos!
I just discovered your channel and I'm really enjoying your videos. I have not been camping in a long time but I am setting up my suburban so that I can take it on trips similar to this one out in the boondocks. Watching your videos has given me some ideas about gear that I'd like to have for the trips. Given how much it rains in the Pacific Northwest I think that one of those gazebos would be awesome!
Nicely done. As far as leaving gear behind (the solar panel cable), I try to implement the boy scout spiral walk through camp before leaving. Yet I lost a Titanium stove once when in a hurry. Happens to the best.
Love your stuff man! How about stealth camping behind a dumpster in an apartment complex? Build a basic lean to with sticks from around the area . Yes, you would have to put up with the noise of many people over the evening coming by and throwing away the garbage. The test is, can you camp behind that dumpster without them ever noticing?
Two items! Identify your Step 2. Possibly, they could also sponsor you with product or merchandise. Use a thermometer when grilling. My Weber Charcoal Grill came with one, so it made it easy baking a Turkey. Baked potatoes are even easier on propane.
These videos are my favorite anxiety-reducing therapy -- they are so relaxing and it is refreshing to see content that is a-political and non-violent. I'm always a little curious as to whether one can purchase one of those flame-throwers that you light fires with? I'm not sure if they're legal in the states, but they look perfect for lighting wet/green wood. Anyways, thank you the great videos!
God I love these videos. Especially in storms. Idk what the appeal is, but it definitely has to do with hunkering down. You’re the everyman’s camping channel. Keep it up!
I know cooking is part of the fun for you but for the last couple years, I've made my food at home and just warm it up at the site. That would save you running your grill for an hour for potatoes. I just got back from a camping trip and we had pulled pork sandwiches I made on the smoker and vacuum packed. Sometimes I'll make Chow mein or Chicken Tikka Masala. Just make it at home and warm it up at the site. Ready Rice or whatever side you want. Obviously burgers or fresh meat on the grill are great but it saves so much time at the site not having to "cook." Time I can spend on Step 2 or 2a or whatever else I want.
Man come to Ireland. Almost everywhere is safe to camp and the the Garda (our police) are so underfunded that they basically don't have any presence in the large rural country land. Also most of the gaurds are pretty chill and unarmed so they normally just have a chat with you and ask you to move on if there's an issue. People are kinda nossy and uncertain if they see people they don't know poking around in the woods around them but it's so easy to go unnoticed in the vast country side. Edit: also no bears
W On foot yes no problem. Difficult park overnight with vehicle. Loads no overnight parking signs in laybyes, barriers, private property signs etc. Rural Ireland not what it was..
I stumbled upon a video of yours I somehow haven't watched yet! What a treat!!! Off to hunt for more! All your videos are so enjoyable! Thinking of you! ❤️
Hey Steve!! Fellow camper and loyal follower of your channel here. Enjoy listening to your stories and watching your camp videos. Im from Mississippi and am curious if you ever do any "hotter then typical Canada weather" camping? Your channel is AWESOME keep it up man!
To cook baked potatoes much faster, shove a steel skewer through them. Normally, baked potatoes cook from the outside in, but with a steel skewer, they will also cook from the inside out, at the same time, since the skewer will draw the heat into the middle of the potato.
I just finished watching one of the other RU-vidrs, that is almost Identical to what your doing. Except he uses hi price stuff. Your videos are much more creative and realistic. Keep up the good works!
Simply no doubt about it, the best camping site on youtube. Simple but fun and friendly. Reminds me of when my brother and I built a fort in the Canadian woods when we were young. No one found it for years.
