Absolutely beautiful. I was once a renter and knew and still know how to change things back. However, my previous landlords always asked me not to remove my upgrades when I moved out. ❤😂
She repainted things the same color so it looks cleaner, she didn't do a ton that she'll have to fix. I think this is brilliant, makes things feel newer when they're touched up!
It turned out very nice - great job. For those asking about renter friendly, you can repaint walls white and where she drilled, those holes can be caulked.
GURLL! You need to talk to your landlord about making these changes permanent. One of the biggest fears of landlords is that the tenants will destroy the home with “upgrades”. Show them what you have done and ask if you can make them more permanent. GREAT JOB!
You have major skills. My prayer for you is to stop paying rent and get a mortgage. Rents not cheap and the cost your spending may nearly match what your mortgage payment will be.
Great job! What do you think about bringing that wood panel all the way to the corner of the wall? The mirror can be center with the staircase🤷🏽♀️ just a thought
The only thing I'd be worried about is the land lords wanting more money for the improvements you did. It is a modest but elegant and really warms the entryway.
The people saying “This isn’t rental friendly” probably aren’t the most creative or handy people and that’s fine. People need to understand that “Renter Friendly” means different things on different properties. My townhouse was built in the 1960s, so rent is cheap but the house is a little raggedy. In order to make it feel like home I needed to fix it up. I have painted cabinets and walls, drilled holes, put up wall paper, used contact paper, hung curtains, hung things off the ceiling, fixed the grout in my bathroom, put cordless lighting in my cabinets, etc. My landlords have been in my townhouse multiple times to check fire alarms, etc. and they’ve never complained, in fact they complimented my home. They just told me I have to get it back to its original state (which wasnt good😅) or they’d charge me a fee when I move out. I’m crafty and handy so I can. Meanwhile my mom lives in a nice apartment complex. She couldn’t get away with as much as I can. For example, my kitchen cabinets were painted white, I painted over that, all I have to do is paint them back. My mother has cabinets with wood grain laminate over them. She can’t paint over those because she would never be able to get them back to their original form. When I was a kid I lived in an extended stay hotel for a little while, you couldn’t even tape a drawing to the walls. It just depends on your specific situation and the expectations of your property management.
My landlord, still yearly inspections, and if I switched out the front door lock, or the light fixtures or painted the door, I be evicted for breaking my lease terms in a snap.
