Nice to see someone young not spending on credit to have a smart home., pride goes before a fall ladies.. so shop around, add your own bling, share what you dont need anymore, go look in your thrift shops., you have a beautiful home, even if its rental, enjoy it., think your momma taught you good. Xx love from the UK..
Nice drapes, artwork, shoe cubie, perfumes, chest, etc. You have good taste.I plan on moving into an apt. soon & need storage & decor ideas.I don't want damage anything.I'd like very much,to get my security deposit back.Thanks.
I've always drilled holes in my apartment walls for curtains and to hang pictures. I just get that plaster stuff to cover the holes when i move out. I just sand it and paint over it. I love the idea of for the perfume. thanks!
I am 50 yrs old and have redone 3 houses and everybody I know loves everything I’ve done and a lot have had me decorate their homes .... you have done an awesome job 🤗
I have a mirror hanging in my house now for six months with command velcro. Use the pound amount on the package. I bought the mirror from Ross. Love your ideas!
Very cute! I admire your creativity and thoughtfulness in your design and approach! I am a landlord myself and have had some destruction in my units....but I would totally be 100% ok with folks doing these things you suggest! So cute!! And resourceful! Very nicely done! 💜
@@lvonbombon4984 That is a big leap to assume that because a landlord endorses a video about ideas to make an apartment work for you without damaging it, to assuming that that landlord doesn't maintain it.
Wow! I have rented forever and never thought of using command hooks to hang window coverings. Also, using them for wall decorations. And I love the lighting in your kitchen. OK. Let's just say I loved it all! Thanks for the great hacks!!
Shoes!! The Dollar Tree sells the clear shoe boxes with lids - put your shoes in those with a photo on the outside of the box so you can see what’s inside - stays stacked and neat and you don’t keep taking the boxes apart to see what’s inside. Helps so much for very little money so if you change your mind later - it’s not a huge loss!
They even have curtain rods that fit inside of the window frame that you twist and lock . Walmart sells them for $9.00 or so . Your idea is nice though ❗
Intelligently thought out and presented. I'm constantly looking for ways to maximize space in my very small apartment, and I enjoyed seeing your ideas. TY.
These ideas are great, and you have done a lovely job of decorating your home. Inexpensive and tasteful. :) As a lifetime renter, the thing that irks me is that landlords are not very realistic when it comes to things like window treatments. For the sake of security and privacy, why can't they just install curtain rods themselves, as part of the property's fixtures? That way tenants don't have to worry about how they can have curtains without damage to walls/window frames...
Hello, You're VERY creative and I call you a 'Handy Mam'! Your video was long but not boring at all and I honestly hated for it to end! Thanks for sharing these helpful tips! God Bless! 💓
That's the truth, this video was not boring at all. Great ideas, informative and attractive. I like that DeeLo talked about what DIDN'T work and why. So often we see homes and living spaces that are soooo perfect that they are pretty much unattainable unless you have a ton of $ and BOB THE BUILDER living in your overly spacious hall closet. I will be following DeeLo for more ideas. She is very good.
We just put up regular curtain rods. When we move my husband always just spreads dry wall putty over any holes we have made. We have never had a problem because of that. You can also fill holes with white toothpaste.
Hi Dee- Sometimes us renters get categorized into a certain group but those of us that really do take care of our homes - well,we want everything to look and feel like HOME. Great job!
In case anyone's interested, I had to move a command hook - and when it came off the wall, so did the layer of paint AND wallboard (it's new construction just before I moved in, so only 1 layer of paint so far). Command hooks are NOT damage free on all surfaces! :-(
Marie Katherine all you had to do was fill the holes and sand it down they would have painted anyway. They just didn't tell you. They knew it was an easy fix
I hope I don’t insult with this comment. You ladies with color. ROCK!!!!! I love love your style, I have learned so much from you. Keep up the great work. Love ya🙋💖💖💖
I've tried lots of options for shoe storage and bought many different types of racks to baskets. I noticed that the boxes with dividers for liquor bottles work great for my 150 pair of shoes. Anytime I get more shoes I make sure to stop at the liquor store for a new box. Some boxes work for boots too. I even use this method for my husbands shoes. I LOVE FREE!!! Not sure how to add a pic or else I would have.
Your apartment is beautiful. As someone who has rented his entire life (im 61) i can tell you its ok (if the landlord says so) to use the drapery hardware. When u move u can just spakle the holes. But a great idea with the command hooks. And if the door is a steel door they have magnetic curtin rods.
Hey, Dee you are so clever when it comes to being creative with your decorating and storage space. You have a good sense of humor...when you stated your closet was a step-in and step back out closet I couldn't help but laugh. But, girl your apartment look very stylish and beautiful at the same time functional. You did and excellent job with decorating your place. Loved 💓 this decorating video tutorial. I like a few of your ideas and will be trying them in my home. Thanks for sharing. Have a great day. Bye!!! 👍😃😃😃💖💛💖💛💖🏡🏠🏡
You are such a thinker. I love what you have done. I especially like your saying what DIDN'T WORK and why. Sometimes you see decorating ideas and hacks that cost a fortune and can only be achieved if you have long $ and Bob the Builder living in your overly spacious hall closet. Love the coffee station like you said, that space as a desk never would have worked without moving heaven and Earth everytime you had to go into the pantry, which would be often. Thanks for the hacks, tips, the visual and clear explanation. Everything is most helpful. Thank you again for inviting us in. 💕💞
I love everything you have done. Especially, coffee unit....cabinet lighing.....closet shoes storage. I never would have thought about using upward space. Thanks.
Thank you for your ideas to decorate a rental, or any space. These are useful to me since I’m in a rental for the first time in 25! Years. I’ve been using Command strips for hanging storage, etc. but I hadn’t thought about hanging curtain rods with Command strips. Now I’ll give that a try. Good idea!
That is a great idea for covering the electric irons on the stove. I agree with you that they are ugly and unsightly. I love a gas stove! I lovelovelove the Coffee Bar!!! Mine would be a coffee and tea bar! 😁😁😁 Your use of closet space is awesome. When I moved into my mom's place a few years ago, I also had the idea to put my chest of drawers in my closet because I only have the use of my own room. Great use of your closet space!
I thank you so much for sharing your tips and ideas, I’m going to need them in the future as Me and my husband will most likely be renters. Again thank you. God bless you.
Excellent Ms. Jenae. I've rented all of my adult life (and I'm 57). You came up with some very good hacks. I've struggled to figure out hacks to decorate my apartments. I grew up in a house, so it is a struggle to figure out how to decorate an apartment. I really appreciate your video very much. Thank you.
Very Smart ideas that you are doing & I was wondering have you thought about using Tension Rods to hang your Curtains ? They sell them at Walmart & Home Improvement Stores. Just adjust your rod from wall to wall inside of your windows. I own my own home & is a Senior Citizen & it works fine for me. I do use light curtains to support the Rod. Stay Blessed & you are doing a wonderful job to your home.
Great use of your space, creative and beautiful. An idea for your clear plastic bins. You can place a pretty decorative paper on the inside facing out to make look nice and hide what is inside.
I use command strips to hang all of my things. I have had fails, like a huge frame falling and breaking the glass, but I've learned that hanging frames this way prevents the frames from moving when I clean or when people walk by. My daughter and I just used command hooks when we hung her drapes in her student sponsored housing. So far, so good. We also used command strips throughout her rental to hang artwork and storage hooks. I love your under cabinet and uplighting. I need to adopt that in my builder grade kitchen and above my bedroom bookcase and armoire. Yours looks amazing!
I love love ALL your idea's!! The light's really add soo much... love your coffee nock !!! Great idea on curtain rods! I loved it all !! Thanks for taking time to share with us all !!
The command strip/slim curtain rod thing is great! Been a renter for years and I've never thought of that. Gonna cover up some ugly mini blinds this weekend. :)
Hi, great ideas. I used copper tubing from the hardware section as a curtain rod. There is no way it will bend. Not sure about the weight with the command hooks. Also, we found hooks that look like question marks, sort of. They put a tiny hole in the wall but when removed you can’t even see where it was. I have a mirror hanging on it, probably about 25 lbs. They come in different strengths and usually are displayed near the command hooks. Your living room curtains are very pretty. You can take the last pleat and move it to the outside of the command hook. Then it would be invisible. Thanks for your ideas.
As far as your shoes in the box, you can buy tote boxes with lids, and put a picture of the shoes that are in each tote on the front. Takes the guess work out of finding the ones you need. And then stack them. Great ideas too. You gave me some good ideas. Thank you so much....
I live in an apartment and I’m a Command Strip fan too. If your strips are not holding to the wall on an outside wall it could indicate a water or mold problem behind the drywall. I did a similar treatment to my electric stove top but that was because I don’t use it for a stove and desperately needed more counter space. (I’m in a wheelchair and use an induction cooktop for safety.) I love your coffee station!
Hi DeeLo! Just subscribed to your channel a few seconds ago 😊 I LOVE your ideas and I really like your sense of style! You and your decor ideas are creative and very appealing to us “regular” folk! You have a lovely place! God bless you and your family and thank you for sharing these great and affordable ideas!😎👍🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I LOVED your ideas!! Thank you so much for sharing them! I just found your channel and have no idea what else you offer, so I’m off to explore. EXCELLENT VIDEO!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Lady, you are a genius! I'm not even done watching your video and I had to comment. You are a landlord's dream. The coffee bar is gorgeous! Your kitchen is great, and those lights. The closet solution is fantastic. and the drapes! I like to think I'm smart and I never would have thought to use command hooks (even though I use them elsewhere)
Thanks for command strips curtains one I had no idea it came in that size. I am DIY my son's room and we been here 15 years so our hooks no longer work. You can use command strips for the mirror as well. I have a few up with mirrors and crush glass and so far four months later it's still up.
Great tips for renters and homeowners who want to make upgrades on a budget! It would have been nice to actually see how you did the light fixture upgrade. Can you add links for the under cabinet and over cabinet lights in the kitchen?
Those are just stick up lights that run off batteries and have a remote control to operate them. I think she said she got them from Home Depot, about $15 for a pack of ten. She posted in January 2018. Hope that helps you! ☺️
I love you! You are absolutely adorable and beautiful!! You're ideas are great and your apartment is lovely! Thanks for sharing your ideas and inspiration with us! I'll be waiting for your next video! 😁😁😁
if you hang the command hooks from the upper/ceiling corner of the window with the hook towards the center , could you use , a cut hula hoop, or heavy weight tubing,or thin pvc pipes to hang the curtains in the bay window? you may have to use a few more hooks along the way to stabilize it tho. on the ends the hooks can be pushed straight into the tubing to hold it this way if it cant hold your regular way.
cute ideas! I like the cabinet lights! I used Command hooks for sheers the width of the window and then different ones for the curtains a few inches over, worked great!
Wow! How creative you are! I have been struggling with the hanging drapes and ugly white blinds dilemma. You have just solved my issue....thank you! Keep those creative ideas coming...love it!
wow. I think you are so great. you've done a lot of creative smart storage and decorating ideas in your home. It really makes me smile bc my first apt i struggled so hard to decorate on a small budget. But great work, you are an inspiring individual. and omg i cant believe you succeeded with the command stripes and curtain rod! that was a disaster for me. lol Great video! stay you!
I have had my stove covers for over 20 yrs, mine are Plexiglas (bought in a catalog) NEVER get rid of them. If anything, find a way to get anchors/feet so they do slide around. You will always have a use for them. 😀
covers for the burners, i've seen them at dollar tree. May be easier for you. contact paper, and wallpaper are removable. You can stick it on and peel off when you want to leave.
Hi there great video with the tips and hacks for apartment rentals, I have a question I want to put up some nail polish racks onto my wall but don't want to put holes in the wall since it's a apartment any suggestions?
You’ve given me lost of ideas! Thanks so Much. I’m so excited about moving into my apartment and you’ve given me more of a reason! Haha your home is beautiful ♥️
THANK U SO MUCH!!! ESPECIALLY ABOUT THE CURTAINS ON THE COMMAND HOOKS!!! I THOUGHT ABOUT BUT TELLING MYSELF NOPE NOT WISE!!! BUT IM HAPPY IT LOOKS GREAT!!! IM GETTING READY TO MOVE N IM TRULY DOING THAT!!! N I LOVED THE OTHER IDEAS TOO
I'm about 5 months late, but I had same conundrum with shoes...I used to keep everything in boxes, then cubes, but then we just recycled some bookshelves to keep up with all our boots and shoes...i like no shoes in house policy due to allergies and some OCDs lol...but we've still manages to outgrow it, and i hated having a big bin or scatter all near our garage door so I finally broke down and put this on the front of our linen closet from walmart: Better Homes & Gardens Grey 24 Pocket Over the Door Shoe Organizer www.walmart.com/ip/Better-Homes-Gardens-Grey-24-Pocket-Over-the-Door-Shoe-Organizer/580854440 idk if it's with your style but I'm super impressed with the quality and durability and something we can use veryday...I grew up with trying just about every other type of shoe organizers/systems that failed or I couldn't follow thru
Lindsey Martin->I also am OCD about shoes in the house, especially on the carpet. Last month we moved into a house with tile throughout the house except in the bedrooms. So now, we steam the tile with my Shark steam mop, but still NO SHOES ON THE CARPET.😉
