Ouchi-juku, located in Minamiaizu, Fukushima Prefecture, is a very unusual town where the streets of Edo Period Japan still remain and people still live there. It is designated as National Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings, and people from all over Japan visit the area for sightseeing. The most characteristic feature of the town is that the roofs of the houses along the street are made of thatch, which is very beautiful, so please take a look.
On the way, please enjoy eating the most famoour Gyoza (dumplings) in Japan, taking Onsen (a bath in a hot spring), and buying Fukushima's specialty "mamadoru" and "cream boxes" as souvenirs too.
