A lot of people jump into the trucking business because they see other's making money. Smart advice to rent, build capital, learn the business and after building business credit and making the decision to go for the long haul, look into buying a truck. I would only suggest buying new, I've seen people go out of business buying a truck and months down the road have to pay for a repair that is more than the truck is worth.
I STARTED OUT RENTING,,IT GETS EXPENSIVE BUT I LOVE THE PEACE OF MIND IT GIVES ME,,I CONSTANTLY SEE BOX TRUCK OWNERS WITH THEIR TRUCKS BEING IN AND OUT THE MECHANIC SHOP..THEY LOOSE SO MUCH MONEY..I PREFER RENTING TIL I GET MAINTENANCE MONEY SAVED UP
I own a car business and just started a logistics business and after doing my numbers, renting is our best option this man is 💯 on point , renting a truck at 2450 month and .17 per mile with a driver , we’re going to be able to scale up quicker
Rental companies have caps on their miles and when you go over those miles eventually you have to turn that truck back in. If you don’t have a contract with consistent work do not rent ! And this is coming from someone who’s been renting since 2021 . I’m now looking to buy
What about leasing a box truck to start out? I was looking at either leasing, financing, or finding something in one of those no name towns in the Midwest or something where the economy is cheap idk but what's your thoughts on leasing? And I plan on staying otr even though I know starting out for at least 6 months to a year Imma have a hard time finding constant loads because I'll be considered a new authority
Glad i found your video my brother. I started a moving company not too long ago. Shortly after I decided to purchase a 16 foot box truck, which broke down on the road a week later. Fortunately it only put out a $1000, but I lost a lot of business because of it. Now that I'm thinking about getting into the box truck business since it's within the same line of business, I think the best option for me is to rent a truck, especially after watching your video. Great content. Very informative.
Insurance payments are more on new truck if you buy or rent it! I bought a used truck for 11k and $500 per month. Also my truck doesn't have Def or any emissions bs
I got a quote from Ryder in the state of Maryland, they told $1080.00 a week plus .22cents a mile. My question is, Is it even worth driving for amazon relay at that point. This rate is for a 26ft box truck with a lift gate.
If you're doing at least 3 runs that pay you an average of $500 per load a day, that's $1,500 a day - your gas ($300) you are left with $1,200 a day and you do that x5 days a week = $6,000 a week. X4 weeks = $24,000 a month. -$3,000 for insurance a month. You are looking $21,000 a month. Let's say you're weekly rental is $1,600 ×4 = $6,400. $21,000 - $6,400 = $14,600 would be your net profit a month.
I'm also in MD and I'm looking to start by renting and work my ass off for at least 3 months to build enough capital and repeat the process and hire drivers. Have you started your trucking journey yet?
@@lostsoul3592 this is crazy because I’m out of Connecticut and I have the same idea as you I submitted my authority yesterday waiting to go active going to get my rental truck and I’m on it😂 but I’m scared and nervous as hell but you just gave me hope
Great video, I feel the same way. This is why I haven’t bought my house yet I been renting for year’s. My question is how much is it a month to rent a 26ft book truck?
What if I work for a business that has alot of rentals I can use how would I go about doing that with my llc far as insurance if.the company already has me insured on there insurance
Yall need to be talikin MONEY management. You are comparing apples and oranges. You got a swift tongue and got a bit more knowledge and info than some. I ain’t mad atcha and ain’t hating…. Mo power to ya

Hi there, BTS! thanks for posting great content always... Question: just coming in the game, got a 98 box truck. she's 26ft long, new in and out, has only 130 on the clock .. she's ready rock and roll... What's your thoughts? Would it be possible to sing on with Amazon? Let me know something... Peace ✌️.
When you rent, the rental company owns YOU. THEY ARE MAKING MONEY OUT OF YOU. You have to run 24/7 365. When you own your equipment, you have over cost, but you own yourself, you have the freedom to run however you want to run. Both, renting and owning have PROS AND CONS.
I don’t like how he’s preaching rent over owning. Owning is definitely the better option the only way you should be renting is if your broke. Even if you own you can lease your truck or resell it always someone looking to buy. Renting you will be broke and working for Pennie’s especially in this market call Ryder, Penske you’ll see it’s taking weeks or months to get ahold of a rental truck. Also to rent prices are wayyyyyyy up your paying $1600 a week with Ryder plus mileage. Owning if you can is 100% the best way to go if you have good credit and some cash to play with
I’m preaching renting vs owning bc most people don’t have the capital tot credit to purchase a truck. I have seen tons of people who purchased a truck and on their first breakdown they are out of business. To fix a bout truck you can easily spend $15,000 to $20,000 for a breakdown. I clearly state that if you don’t have $15,000 in reserves then it’s not smart to buy a truck. Why call the people who can’t afford the truck broke. They might just be in a financial trouble at the moment. It’s almost like your saying people who rent where they stay at is broke. 🧐 also I’m not sure why some would pay $1600 a week for rental when you could be paying between $450 to $600 a week. It’s all about the information you have
@@BoxTruckShawty I didn’t say that person couldn’t come from there financial burden. If your broke your broke. I’ve been broke broke lol I don’t know where your getting dry box truck rentals for $450-$600 but good for you. Even with a business account at Ryder, Penske, Enterprise, Hogan etc your not getting those prices starting out but if you got the plug good for you.
@@brysonldinkins it's not a question of being broke, it's a question of intelligence, strategy and vision, everyone is free to do what they want, in business we must avoid the spirit of conformism, it's not because everyone buys and it works well for them that means it will also work for you if you buy.
Dude is broke lol now that’s funny. You prob should do some research and tell me if you think I’m broke. I make over $30k a month in profits by renting and without driving a truck. But I guess I’m broke to someone😄. I can buy multiple box trucks Brand new.
@@BoxTruckShawty No one said you were broke. I got family who rents trucks at scale as well. What would your margins look like owning though? Also keep it real at scale hiring dependable employees is a headache haha I would rent as well scaling that many trucks because 9/10 those worker drivers are going to tear that truck up
