The piccolo trumpet on keyboard was brilliantly & perfectly executed & played by RJ. A rare God given talent. Perfect.....just unbelievably perfect. Who agrees with me?
I don't know what to say. I yelled out to my wife to come and "hear these Asian guys!" They seriously gave me the feels of my childhood and youth as The Beatles were recreated convincingly and lovingly. So great guys! So great!
@@CluvVenny Macca saw the Brandenburger concertos on BBC, rang Martin who told him it was a Bach trumpet, said he wanted one in his next recording, according to Martin himself.
"For No One" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles from their 1966 album Revolver. It was written by Paul McCartney, and credited to Lennon-McCartney. A baroque pop song[1][2] about the end of a relationship, it was one of McCartney's most mature and poignant works upon its release. Mostly performed by the composer, the track is distinguished by its French horn solo, performed by Alan Civil and used as counterpoint in the final verse. This is from Wikipedia so it may or may not be accurate but no matter because my original comment was solely to compliment the keyboarding of the “horn” part in the REO Brothers excellent cover of this beautiful Beatles song.
As a live sound technician I must say, not only is the musicianship and vocals spot on, I am very impressed with the recording mix, the mics have the perfect amount of chorus and reverb and none of the instruments sound bright, tinny or hollow like you hear on most home based recordings , the mix is as good as any professional studio mix, which is saying a lot. Kudos to the person mastering the sound here.
I hate to disagree, but I feel like they could've done a ton to improve the production quality of this video. The drumming is off beat in quite a few places. There are a few beats that are scattered and aren't hit by every player at once. The keys sounds too "midi-like". The bass is too defined in the mix. The panning is a bit half-assed. The vocals are also too shy. They have to be much more open unashamed. There are some points in the song when the trumpet sears through the vocals and is distracting. So yea, if this was a live performance, it would be great. But as a recorded take, I think they could improve on so many different aspects. They're good enough to be good, they just haven't become "perfect".
@@jickamangah Uhoh Michael...be prepared you will get a lot of angry comments coming towards you.... But I must say that I agree with you. Indeed the drummer is off every now and then but it is also a little bit to fast compared to the original. Furthermore I agree, they are good enough and, important in my eyes: they keep the Beatles alive. And seems you know about music...how about this version ? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7leRzaXmco8.html
@@jickamangah wow, need I remind you they are not in a studio, they are live streaming on the internet, AND the Beatles never attempted to preform this song live due to the complexity, .. you can pretend to know what you are talking about, but the only person you are fooling is yourself, you and everyone you know could not pull this off , not even close
50 year musician recording, artist, producer, and Beatles fan… the attention to detail and faithfulness in reproducing the original arrangement is pretty incredible.
literally crying when i watch macca in carpool karaoke with james corden while singing this penny lane so much nostalgic for me.i really do love the beatles..
A few months ago I asked my 6 year old granddaughter if she knew who the Beatles are. She just looked at me with a surprised look on her face and said "of course grandpa".
how can a generation of 6 decades later sing these songs like they owned it?....you don't realize how much this means to the Baby Boomers out there....thank you Reo Bros. for bringing back the hands of time....proud of you guys ..
so many real amazing talents during the baby boomer era, worth emulating / covering even up to this date. some of them artists may have already passed on but their music legacy will remain....and i'm sure up to the next generations to come
don't ever say 'like they owned it' it's the kind of shit you hear in reality talent shows and it's the most moronic shit I've ever heard. Nobody could ever play a song like they own it, the original is always better as it's the artist that created the song in the first place. I would say, they did the song proud, which is the best compliment.
@@rokker101 Only reason I say that Phil is get their name out there. Other thing is they need to write their own songs to make it big. I'd say best plan is a support act to some major artist .
In 52 years that is hands down, undeniably the best cover of a Beatles song I have ever heard, and I have heard a lot in my 68 years. Well done lads, well done.
@@morningsky8045 It is all a matter of opinion I guess.... The Analogues are using the original instruments that the Beatles used during their recordings so in my opinion it is much closer to the Beatles, but again...it is my opinion. Also the tempo of the Reo Brothers is not correct but still....a nice version
Ok this madness has to stop.....I keep commenting on these videos saying it's the greatest ever just to say it again when I watch the next one.....Holy Crap, that was friggin amazing.
Like pretty much all of the Reo Brothers covers, I could listen to this one a thousand times and never get tired of it. These guys make the world a better place
This confirms my belief that sibling groups are always heads and shoulders above the rest. This level of perfection is just not attainable in a normal band setting. Siblings spend their life together practicing in addition to sharing genes. The Everly Brothers, the Carpenters, The Beach Boys, The Bee Gees, the Andrew Sisters, the list goes on and on but the one thing they have in common is the tightness of their harmonies and razor perfect timing. It also helps to be gifted musicians.
This has got to be from the Philippines. When I was there I saw so many cover bands that were EXACTLY like the originals. They take the time to make it perfect!
I don’t understand how anyone could dislike this. It’s genuinely insane, especially just the live value of it. All of this, live. The amazing horn and other FX added just makes it so amazing
The only good thing about Covid is that I discovered REO Brothers. They make me smile, clap, cry and just marvel at their individual talent, what a family!
I grew up listening to the Beatles, I was thrilled, I'm 62 years old, and seeing people so young playing and singing this song so perfectly, it's a perfect cover. Embraces of Brazil.
Martan LaCroix It’s amazing their keyboard can replicate that sound. I wonder if they sampled it? Or tune it to that sound? I really have no knowledge about electric keyboards.
Any sound can now be produced by a person with a digital keyboard or other midi controller. Even a 200 dollar casio can do convincing trumpets . Still takes skill to play well.
These guys are from our place in Leyte, Philippines. Believe it or not, they started from the village with trash instruments until a TV station discovered them. Praise God for giving them such beautiful talents.❤
I came here only to hear the piccolo trumpet solo; I thought it wouldn't work, but I was wrong, it was amazing! You all are great musicians! Congrats from Brasil!
As a 66yo semi-retired saxman session player, it does my heart good to see young musicians that still care in an era of ProTools, click-track quantized-to-death, 4-chord bullshit! It’s all about the nuance. Keep on keepin’ on!
I've been listening to the Beatles since 1963, when I was 4 years old and my mother bought me their 45's as they came out. 60 years later they are still my favourite band. You guys are fantastic, thanks for keeping their music alive.
I cant take this anymore. No way theyd be able to take on Penny Lane. The horn part is too difficult to replicate. But they just did! HOLY cow! How did you pull that off RJ?
I turn 70 in a couple of days so I grew up with the Beatles. They and The Beach Boys (I lived 8 mi from Huntington Beach and I surfed) WERE MY WORLD. I say this because I want to tell you one thing. You are, BY UNTOLD MILES, the BEST Beatles cover band. You actually sound better than they did live. They were more of a studio band which was reflected in their later recordings which was impossible to duplicate live. Keep up the GREAT work.
These guys are truly amazing. I also, at age 67, grew up listening to The Beach Boys and The Beatles. My #1 and #2 favorite bands of all-time. I still have dozens of 45's and 33's from the 60's and can truly say that the Reo Bros. do fantastic covers of many bands.
Hey Mark your music taste fits mine.....only one remark.: try the ANalogues for Beatles covers, they play with the original instruments (that is why they are named Analogues) and play the (6) albums that the Fab Four never played live. As a Beatles fan my advise is ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sCbZ15JpxPg.html Cheers!
@@juntumlos4444 this Band got the vibe and magic I've seen the analogue yes they are good but when I've seen them once i didnt feel an urge to watch them again with the same song unlike REO
When i'm broke . I start to listen to this wonderful song then try to imitate them while playing those instrument i dont know but sounds like relaxing to my ear and then feel better. Indeed music makes you stress free especially classic
These brothers are individually stunningly talented! And RJ (keys and lead vocals), a self-taught all around musician who passed on his skills to his brothers and started the band, is the musical genius in the family.
I discovered these brothers by mistake six days ago and I am so glad I did. I am totally addicted, every song they sing is amazing. You are all so talented. It’s obvious you Brothers are as close to each other as your harmonies. I am 71 and have not been a fan of anyone for years, until now. You are all fabulous and you have made me very happy. Please don’t ever stop singing. Just one thing, I would love to hear you do “Babe by Styx” I’m sure you could do it. Thank you and stay safe. U.K.
@@imkluu Interestingly, the solo has a top D which isn't in the piccolo trumpet range. When the musician (David Mason) looked at the score, created by George Martin, he said that the top D is not within the range and McCartney said "We know." Mason shrugged and played it anyway pushing the instrument one note higher than was intended for that instrument. Legends are made from anecdotes like these.
I don't know why I ever doubt these guys, especially after watching their knock out version of Bohemian Rhapsody. But, here again, they've blown me away. I was half expecting them to bottle out of the trumpet solo. How wrong (and glad to be so) I was! 😉😉👍👍🎹
Yes they are. They come from Leyte, an island in the Philippines where Gen. Douglas MacArthur and the rest of the Allied Forces landed in October 1944 during World War II to liberate the Philippines.
No one comes close to the BEATLES, but these lads did an amazing live stream performance. Even the Beatles did not perform this song live! This is by far the closest cover. Bravo, REO Brothers!
Now that we are no longer living in an apartment, I can now crank it up!! I will now alter the lyrics just a bit for this comment: REO Brothers are in my ears and in my eyes.... Fantastic job guys, I can't thank you enough for helping all of us out during this global madness. You make the world a better place!
Realize The Beatles never played this live. Might have been too difficult with the technology of the time. Great rendition of the studio version, right down to the fire alarm. We now know it is possible to play live. Never heard anyone else do it so well. The dude playing the horns on the keys did it brilliantly. Perfect vocals as always. How do you top this performance?
There are quite a few Beatles Tribute bands that do quite well covering studio versions of The Beatles later albums. REO Brothers are very good, listen to The Fab Four and The Analogues.
I was once a bass player of a music ministry and my admiration to this bass player is so high, so amazing. Playing keys at a very complicated notes while singing requires a gifted skill to perform & this boy makes it so easy. I enjoy listening to REO brothers and praying that they soon reap good fortune from doing good music.
