Great review Dave, We bought this exact camera 1.5 months ago after our neighbors house was broke into 2 times. A week after we had the camera I get a knock on the door at 7am. It was the local police and they said the person got robbed again and they knew I had a camera and wanted to see the footage. Still don't know how they knew I had a camera but sure enough the footage showed 4 guys that cut through my yard about the time they suspected the house being broke into. the app allowed us to easily send the footage to the officer via email. 2 days later the thieves were caught. we are definitely looking into buying a couple more. Some things I have noticed, 1.) playback can be choppy at times 2.) Video only seems to record for 8 seconds, but occasionally will get a 13 second video. don't know why it does this, would like for it to be longer. We have been outside on many occasional and instead of videoing one long video it takes multiple 8 second videos. This can be annoying at times but I also see how this can be helpful like in the case where I had to email the footage.
Thanks for watching and for your input! The 8 seconds can be adjusted in the settings. (Go to camera recording, and click on post-motion record duration) 👍
@@HuntingFarmerOfficial Thank you Dave, I looked and looked and could not find it. It was right where you said. Do you know if the only way to delete footage is by the format tab?
I have to look into this one. Currently I have a WIFI system that covers a 3 mile radius. Now I can finally try a Reo Link!! With the cellular cameras you have from them I loved how good they worked but the one I got was not on my network and it conflicted for some reason. I have a ticket number and there working on a bug fix!
These look really good. The app looks very good too. I want to get another brand as a backup and might look into these. My current cameras will show a person detected too if a wasp or mouth lands on or gets near the lens. Good and thorough review!
Another good review, you have me thinking on the Reolink with the pan/tilt. I have some one that keeps running into my fence in my back yard, guess I need to catch it on video.
Great review! The Google Nest is pretty good too. It has an internal memory so it'll work even if the electricity is down. It is 30 frames per second and can detect smoke and co2. It also can be plugged in for additional features. It can record up to 3mn events, the AI is very good at distinguishing known persons. The only thing I don't like is there's no pc app to watch feeds on a big screen.
Great review, I just ordered 2 of them.. Was wondering did you have to select 5g or 2.4 or did the camera choose the best WiFi to use on where it was placed.. Also any idea what the WiFi range is on this, because my garage is about 40 feet from the house where I would like to install one of them.. I’m hoping it will work from that distance away from my WiFi In the house..
Hi my friend I bought the Argus 3 Pro and will connect to a Reolink NVR so i can record the feed. I have a question: should I insert the micro SD even though i will record on the NVR hard disk?
isn't that kind of expensive when you an get a trail cam for $30.. or little more?? I'm trying to decide about cams for security here at home and DO like ths one-- but not sure on the whole thing. Does this have a MONTHLY charge needed for the " CLOUD" crap??? Is there a way to do without that? (but still have the wifi for at home).. I'm just NOT clear on what they do and HOW..
WiFi trail cameras cannot automatically send videos to your phone like this camera can. I don’t use the cloud services with this camera so there are NO monthly fees.
@@HuntingFarmerOfficial THANKS- that was what I wanted to know-- I knew the trail cams can't- but was thinking of putting a couple of those around HIDDEN-- I have thieves that were stealing my HEATING OIL.. and i KNOW who it was but can't prove it.. I am not able to get out there at night and do much about it.
I have a second question: I will not be charging the batteries with a solar panel but with a USB adapter 5 V 2.4 AMP , do you have a suggestion as to how I can protect the usb plug? the solar panel comes with a rubber rain protection for the micro usb but my 10 meter cable doesn't come with any!
I also asked this question to reolink, they wrote back telling me that i shouldn’t connect the camera to a usb power supply but shpuld use the solar panel because they say there is no charging limit on the usb power supply like there is on the solar panel..
Hey Dave, awesome review. In your experience do you think I could use this for picking up raccoons for my chicken coop? Would I be notified on my phone if a coon was detected? Thank you
I think this camera could do exactly as you described. It could pick up the raccoon movement and you record the action and send you a notification within seconds that the hen house has company 😜 You will need to have WiFi signal where you want the camera mounted 👍
@@HuntingFarmerOfficial Hey I got my unit today. After 2 + hours of trying to connect to our router/reboot/ over and over and over, and finding they have no phone tech support, and reading their terrible reviews and complaints on the app store (2.9 rating) the unit is packed up and ready for return. After reading all the negatives on the APP review, I see I am not the only one with connection and lack of support issues. Many stated it takes up to 48 hours often to be contacted. I am happy yours worked so well for you. I can not wait 48 hours for an email ticket to get looked at. Good luck with yours.
I know + one of the issues that people had with this camera is the frames per second (fps) at night was around 6 or 7. Do you know if that is closer to 15 now?
It was about 150 feet from my router but that will depend on how strong your router is and how many obstacles are between the router and cam. Thanks for watching. I appreciate it 👍
So disappointed. Only after receiving the product and trying to link it to my router did I discover that this product is only compatible with wifi protocols one through four which dates to 2013. New routers are on wifi protocol six. Still waiting to hear back from Reolink. Reviewer should modify review to reflect this obsolete firmware.
@@HuntingFarmerOfficial I stand corrected: though their website says cause 2, "if you have wifi protocol six, contact support for an update" and yet... the camera DOES connect to the phone's "hotspot" which is protocol six !!??!! So, something else is preventing the cameras from connecting to the new T-Mobile Gateway, and after a week interacting with Support (which is apparently on the other side of the world based upon the one sentence replies arriving at midnight), there is still no resolution.
So here are the complete facts: You were apparently supplied camera(s) with up-to-date firmware. I was not. My camera(s) would ONLY connect to the hotspot on the phone (which I don't think all phones have enabled). Once connected to that hotspot, one would need to know and find, "update firmware." I did as a matter of course, and it says, firmware up-to-date, ... BUT IT ISN'T. At that point, there is NO OTHER WAY but to contact Reolink Support. You have to give them the UID of the camera, hardware number, and the firmware number of your camera. THEN, you have to wait several days for what Reolink Support refers to as "their engineers" to "push" updated firmware to your specific camera(s). Only then would the camera(s) connect to the new WiFi with protocol six. RIDICULOUS!
Thanks for sharing and for visiting my channel.. Returning Support with Full View and Like.. Hope you and your family are having a good week... You did a great job in your review..
