A bunch of Republicans, especially from New York. Do you want to get rid of him most likely because it damages the brand to continue to have him lurking around they don’t want to have to wait until he loses his own primary, which is likely to happen as he basically has no support. The longer he stays in the house the more damage he does.

May as well........ as an ardent lover of classic American cinema, 95% of the time, these last 20 years, I (and many others) haven't heard of the "actors" who've won Oscars. They win simply for portraying politically-correct roles (physical/mental handicaps, ethnics, LGBTQEIFYSG's, etc.). Gimme Spencer Tracy, Brando, DeNiro...... but Rami Malek? It's a _SHAME_ and its _DISGUSTING_ that Santos wasn't removed _immediately!_ But it must be hard for the former republican party to remove somone who act just like Donald Trump.
Ordinarily, I would have thought Santos' expulsion was a foregone conclusion. But today, I fear the Republican Party has already sunk too low to grow a conscience and once again expediency may take precedence over conscience.
The GOP does not set themselves to the standards that they have for anyone else. Between the disgrace that is happening in this Congress and the previous president who put his own ego above the duty he had to his country... Let's just say it will be a long time before I ever apply to be Republican again. Independent is where I stay.
Rep. Santos does not lie. He may embellish some things. But he honestly believed everything he said and wrote. My family will vote for him again. He's doing a good job.

Here's how I think it works. Billionaires find people like Santos, MTG, Bobert, who are nutty enough, to say anything they tell them to say, for the right amount of money. Then they finance their campaigns.
Yea because they know these people won’t pass any laws, and are easily bought. Last thing billionaires wants are politicians that will hold them to the same laws they hold everyone else.
Plus while people are focused on these clearly insane politicians those same rich donors are using their money to influence policy making while all the heat/attention is off of them

Yes, it definitely set a precedent. But his trial is set until end of next year. If it was happening in the next few weeks, no problem waiting. But since it won’t happen for about a year, take the vote to get him out!

Santos wants to stay in office for that nice Congressional pension. You have to serve a minimum of 5 years to get that pension. At only two years per term, he needs to be reelected twice. Fat chance that's happening. He's toast.
Nobody really expects the republicans to expel Santos. This vote will provide some good political ammunition to be used in the next election against anyone who votes to keep Santos in congress.

I've come to accept there's a huge portion of America that is just politically illiterate and doesn't pay attention to politics until something pisses them off and then comes in full force with no knowledge except for what they heard in 6 minutes of news Clips and 2 hours of RU-vid comments. Then, they spread that half-baked information. And then they vote.

This is a chance for the Republican party to finally show that it has integrity. Toss him out, and show America that honesty is still a part of our government.
His federal trial, assuming it doesn't get pushed back is scheduled for September 9, 2024. It's unconscionable that our federal judicial system is so broken that it takes that long for a trial to happen. An un-expelled Santos and the rest of the House Republicans can do a lot of damage between now and that date. Unfortunately, it continues to become clear that the American justice system is not built to stand against this level of corruption. It was good while it lasted.

If the GOP actually expels him and thus jeopardizes their majority status, then you will know they fear keeping him more than loosing him. But I think the taint of Santos will long exist in New York State and will still hurt the chances of the GOP electing members from there next election. They kept him too long.

He lied about his ENTIRE IDENTITY! The constituents of the district he represents deserve to know who they are voting for and if he misrepresents or lies about who he is, where he graduated from, what he’s accomplished in business/life..then at the very least he should be expelled from congress…Those voters should be given another opportunity to vote for someone who can legitimately represent them…
