Great speech. Thank you for standing up for true peace in Israel. I grew up in Pittsburgh, and Roberto Clemente was one of my heroes growing up (your parents can share stories about him). I did not know the "krap" he had to deal with both in Puerto Rico and also in Pittsburgh being a black Puerto Rican (I was a nieve kid). He was just an amazing ballplayer. I did not see color in my sports heroes (many Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers). I truly believe we are all able judge a person by the content of their character. Roberto Clemente was an amazing humanitarian AND ball player! Again, thank you for pointing out our flaws as a country, but also pointing to the answers that MLK strived for!
This was a beautiful ,heartfelt speech by Mr. Torrez. I hope he is successful in whatever he does. It is wonderful for the Jewish people to have such a good friend. He is erudite. Everything he said is on the mark.
Holding a mirror up to the shocking indifference of Americans to the barbarism of terrorists and the suffering of Israelis who have always only wanted to live in peace. Thank you for your moral clarity Mr. Torrez. Needed now more than ever.
It’s insanely ironic that he would invoke Dr. King and speak on non-violence and ignore apartheid, illegal occupation, and genocidal murder of 35k innocent Palestinians people.
To quote Rep. Torres "you are asking the wrong question..." The correct question is "why does Hamas deliberately put children in harm's way by using them as shields? Hiding weapons caches in schools and hospitals, and digging terror tunnels under civilian homes and mosques?" Answer those questions and you'll understand why children are needlessly dying in Gaza and you'll understand the evil nature of Hamas.
HAMAS is evil. Anyone who supports a terrorist organization has have their American or Canadian citizenship revoked, and sent out of these countries with the clothes on their back and that's all! @@stanleysegal7159
