My washer jumps like crazy after my son washes his pants. No telling whats moved

The rear panel, pull it off, check the suspension shock absorber. If it's not that, then on top, there's 2 springs that hang and attach to the drum and keep it suspended. One of those came lose. My money is on the shock absorber failing catastrophically. Hopefully not filled with water, like mine was..

What if the fuse is blown? Where's the short then?

The noise suppressor is simply a copper wire , wound around a ceramic core. It's nothing fancy. The panel on the other hand is different. It's fed power after the motherboard transformer drops power down to 24v . Or 12v, whatever it is. This guy's trying to help diyers.. most won't use a multi meter..

They are weird. I have used different part numbers as long as all the plugs and components are the same.

You have to pull out the fuses from the board to test EA fuse

@@carmac1652 The contacts for the fuse were accessible so it was easy enough to check for continuity. Unfortunately it checked out fine, so that wasn't the issue.

That usually means power failure if you press the cancel button it will usually reset. But if that doesn't work I want to take the top off and make sure all the wiring is intact. Next I would check the wall outlet for power then the next suspect would be the noise filter

No i dont use tech sheets. Nothing against them, i just understand how the machine works and follow the cookie crumbs.

Lots of times on other equipment that just won't work..

The wires are clipped on most of them have little levers that you press with your thumb as you pull them out

If it started before you took it apart, then you forgot to plug something back in or you install the wrong thermistor

Main board going out.

When you have alot of spare parts on hand changing parts is fine to find the problem. But the average person won't have spare parts. They need to know how to use a multimeter and a schematic to find the problem.

I was told that a bad door switch or water pump will blow out the board. I have the same issue and dont want to replace the board untill I can check them other things. Not so easy to reach the parts and at the same time they can be reached. I am considering looking at a new mechine since we can not be with a washing machine very long.

Jim Campbell i have been reading comments and watching many videos and for what you are getting, seems like the main board is your problem. That is the brain of the washer machine. Noise filter is basically an over voltage protector, so doesn’t seem to be your problem. I just ordered a main board, waiting for it to see if it fix my problem. I have no power at all.

@Washer Dryer Repair Tips & Tricks for DIY 'ers So, Asurian said it was the control board and they just paid me for a new washer and were done. They said the control board is no longer made. Ge this. After I tried new hardware with no luck, I simply tried touching the power button square on the board without the cover installed, and boom. It came on. And this is with the old board. 1. I don't know why the new board didn't work and 2. I can only imagine how the "expert" missed the fact that the little foam square was missing from the power button on the board. I took a little square out of a button we don't use and put everything back together. It is working. I'm now returning $400 in parts and have the $650 that Asurion paid out. Oh, and I have a long, boring, and perhaps confusing story to tell. 🤣🤣🤣 Thank you sir!!!

sounds like a heater element problem.....check the continuity on it lots of videos on youtube about how to chekthem.

I've never experiencing repairing washers and dryers fully just by resetting. In my experience broke is broke. Resetting and recalibrating is good when you add new parts. You're right, Resetting is a good first step for do-it-yourselfers but for repair technicians the risk of having to come back charge more to replace the board if the reset doesn't work. My opinion Profesional and thank you for yours.

I’ve successfully repaired one lg washer by doing this. Hold power and start buttons 5 seconds with it unplugged.

No power at all usually is the contol board (where all the buttons are). Take a chance and order used board off ebay, might cost about $40. Other parts it might be too is rear board or noise filter. Jumping is a fire hazard. Most burnouts are because of failed relays or other components. The burned out voltage path should be treated the same way you would treat a "check Engine" light on our car.

To diagnose not getting power, is not having power, lol. My explanations are for the Layman because most people don't have the tools to actually test the components on the board, so I Basics explain which parts are most likely to have gone bad. if you have no power going to your board, as in it will not turn on at all no lights. Only if that is your LG washers symptom.

@@LeanOnYourRep I realize LG purposely made the control boards non serviceable by potting everything, but are there any schematics available for them to at least enable bench testing? I'd be curious to see what it is that fails so regularly in the LG designed control boards.
