In this video, I'll show you how to fix a LG Washing Machine that won't start or power on. This can be the noise filter or mother board causing the issue most of the time. Other times it can be the interfacing buttons themselves. Once corrected, a good quality surge protector can keep most of these issues at bay going forward.

Our 14 year old LG quit working. Had no idea what to do, but saw your video. Then it all fell into place, and looking at the noise filter revealed an upgrade part number. Definite proof that was what I replaced last time. Oh, I shortcutted by checkig the fuse on the board. Same issue as last time.

ONE OF YOUR COMMENTS SAVED ME A SERVICE CALL. I just wet and placed the plastic hose end connected to my 650 Pound pressure LAB HELD VACUUM PUMP onto the ON Button on my 4 year broken LG WASHER front panel. Now my LG Washer is working again! The ON Button needed to be pumped up. 😁

No that’s not always the problem. The problem is that we use it the wrong way. It’s a sensor start button but people who install the machine especially from the big bug stores don’t understand the importance to perfectly level the machine. If the poorly leveled machine keeps being used the start button would not turn on. I pushed the machine turned on. For all who want to do it yourself check the foam of the start button before you order the expensive parts. Usually electric parts are okay. The issue is the poorly leveled installation. Yes most of the time it’s the sensor foam but people don’t talk about it.

You are officially my hero. I have this LG WT7600HWA model and needed to replace the water level pressure switch, but access was different on all other videos, because they were older models. So glad I dug deeper and found your video. You are the only one who showed how to remove the first top white panel in the rear. My washer started filling to the top, agitating and then draining and spinning. 4+ years of regular use and this was the first issue. Bought my part locally from Leo's Appliance Parts. He has been in business 37 years. Love to support local if I can. Following your directions to lift and pull off made the cover popped right off and I am running a load as I type. Replacing the water level presser switch was the easy part. Thank you. I just subscribed and I will visit your site on my next repair need.

@@joshcobb4100 Josh, Should I be getting 12 Volts DC at the orange and the black plugs going into the motherboard to power it? (the noise filter passes - it connects through the coil just like in your test). The question is: Why am I NOT getting any voltage at the plugs going into the mother board. If I had voltage there, going into the motherboard, I would be 100% sure it is in fact the mother board. I had a mouse visit the area under the back panel and I am now checking all wires to make sure they are NOT bit through. I have a feeling that she cut one of the wires snacking on.

Did your test, did not find a bad filter, reset connections on main board and it starts again. Thanks for a great video that worked for me. Mine is a LT7300CW, very similar. I think it was also possible that the switch is poorly designed and moving the face was enough since they recalled the face of this unit right away after I got it in 2020.

Great video and helpful. I have a 12 year old front load LG washer that has died on me. Both fuses are good. The one in the PCB and noise filter. Do you have a way to test and confirm the PCB is bad? There is a diod that looks to have burnt under the coating but I have not cut into it to see yet. Looks like it was marked with a permanent marker to me right now. Been a great washer too.
@thoseradstars
@thoseradstars Год назад
If it looks burnt, I wouldn't be surprised if that is the issue. My washer stopped working (with my clothes locked in the water, which I luckily got unlocked) so I opened up the top panel. When I got to the PCB, it became very obvious that multiple things had burnt out and leaked the gross brown liquid (electrolytic fluid) around them. I have one arriving in the mail and will be replacing it in a few days. I still need to check my noise filter, since those can sometimes go out and cause the damage to the PCB.

Our top load LG washer with the agitator has a Power Button that no longer works no matter how hard we press it. It progressively became harder and harder to push until last week when it now no longer turns on at all. Another video on RU-vid explained that it most likely has to do with the button mechanism (there's a piece of foam that activates the power when the button is pushed). Since we are within the year warranty we called up the repairman who came and said it is a very common issue and he ordered a whole new control board and display panel. So the repairman came and ordered a new control panel and display board for our washing machine. When we unwrapped it a service bulletin fell out explaining to the tech what to do (so this is obviously a common issue that LG is aware of). Interestingly enough, it appears that they have updated the button mechanism, there is no foam to be found it looks as if it is now a spring instead. So, I am happy to see that there is no foam to get crushed or break down, however the display panel doesn't have much flex so it is going to be interesting to see the how it will work when the repairman swaps everything out. I will update you with the results tomorrow. BTW the service bulletin advises not to change the display panel unless necessary, but we will leave that up to the repairman. The panel has a part number of: AGL76194027 PCB Complex: EBR86498808 We have the top loader with the agitator: WT7305CV

@@joshcobb4100 Sorry forgot to update as life got busy. When the second repairman came to put the new parts on he explained that the issue involves the display panel letting in too much light and therefore not activating the button since it couldn't "sense" the finger as it was letting in too much light. I have no idea what he was talking about. He replaced both the display panel and the control board and the machine works fine for now. Something definitely changed though as our machine just doesn't sound the same anymore, it's much louder on the final drain and spin. There were no foam pieces on the old control board or the new one, I honestly don't understand how it works since the display has practically no flex to it.

I would say most of the time it's not the control panel ....its the start button of the control panel. There's a little square foam pad with a very thin metallic strip going around it. What happens is that little piece of form compresses from continual use and after a while, no longer comes back to its original shape therefore cannot make contact, when you push the front of the control panel. And I fixed it by simply just replacing the foam pad with layers of aluminum foil super glue together and you can put a couple pieces of aluminum foil on the control panel side where it touches and superglue them together until you get the right thickness. Works perfectly. if you happen to have the start button that does not have the form square pad, but has the pin made of metal or plastic you can just loosely wrap a piece of aluminum foil around the pan and it will help it make a better contact and it should work fine.

Hi Josh, I have model WT7300CW, very similar to this. It has been having problems with no power intermittently. I installed a surge protector to no avail. We unplug and replug, push buttons and eventually it works. Today, it seemed deader than a door nail. I got the multimeter and tested the noise filter. It tested good. Put it back in and the machine started. Question is, do you see intermittent problems with the control board?
@joshcobb4100
@joshcobb4100 2 года назад
You might check all of your ground (green) wires and make sure they are all secured and not on painted surfaces. If those all check out, sounds like a board going bad, with a bad connection. You could also check your power cable and be sure it’s not damaged.

Josh, I have a WT5070CW Top loader that doesn't drain the water on spin cycle. I replaced the drain pump and it didn't drain. Thinking that pump was bad I replaced it. Still that pump didn't drain the water. Both pumps I ordered through Amazon and both times they gave me a refund. So I ordered a pump through LG and still the water won't drain. Please help. Pete
@joshcobb4100
@joshcobb4100 Месяц назад
If you’re not getting a power signal to the drain pump from the control board likely it’s a bad control board. If you have a voltmeter, you can verify no voltage is going to the drain pump at the point in the cycle when it should be draining. If you tested at the board and it is outputting power, you might have a break or bad connection in your wiring. Most commonly the control board is faulty. However, I have seen some washers when the shocks go bad and bounce around it can break the connectors that go onto the pump. You might check and make sure the ends are not broken at the connector.

No not true. We fixed our problem and our machine is close to five. Here is how: We leveled ours and it is working at the lightest touch like new. Installation was done incorrectly. Before you call someone do the ThinQ as we did. It helps to diagnose problems. You for sure know it’s not the expensive parts, which the people who looked at it wanted to replace.

Sounds like the fuse is blown. You should definitely get continuity from one side of the fuse to the other side if you’ve got a good metal contact.

According to the LG Service Manual, when testing the continuity for the Line Filter, they show in their diagram to test contacts WHI (1) to RD1 (1) for continuity and WH1 (3) to RD1 (2) for continuity. But, in your video, you connected WH1 (1) to RD1 (2) and WH1 (3) to RD1 (1). According to LG, you did it wrong.

My unit is good with power but operates like it’s possessed on any setting. From start to finish each phase of the cycle there’s an issue. Before water is added the auger and tub are crazy shaking and spinning for long periods(also randomly thought out cycle)It is different from the normal actions of cleaning. Will not add enough water or way way to much. Also add in it in middle of full spin, for just a few seconds. Also in spin will full reverse, can hear belt or motor high winding sound.These are the most common aggravating things. Our water bill has doubled, and tripled because of this. I have to stand there or check on it every few minutes to make sure it’s working properly, especially at the very end after the spin. Even after completing it will start over adding water again. Help!

Apparently our LG Washer (bought at Best Buy) was 2 years newer than the one in the video and none of the parts matched up with these so none worked and the washer never came on again. Buy washers with as long an extended warranty as you can get. These "do it yourself repair videos are misleading and the washer went out twice even with replacement circuit boards.
