Use some toothsticks, glue it together and hammer it into the hole. Make with some glue and sawdust a mixture and fill the hole. Drill it to the right diameter and glue in a dowel. And keepout the damed chemical solutions. Now you have three more possibilities. Cheerio from Germany.
This was the most interesting episode I've seen in a while! Thank you! I'd love to see more restoration related advices even though I don't do restoration. Simply put, learning restoration is a great way of learning vital nuances of furniture making.
Super helpful, thanks. I’ve just acquired some lovely mid century dining chairs with beautiful wooden legs, and a vinyl back. The screws have come lose in the timber under the vinyl and I didn’t want to just slam in an even bigger screw, I was worried that would only make things worse. So I’ll give this a try. Thanks again.
