Repair Shop Ripped Him Off - Let's Fix It! The seller of this Xbox Series X took it to a repair shop for HDMI port repair but after spending $400 it only worked for about a month before it went back to not showing an image on the screen. Let's take it apart and see if we can figure out what went wrong. And get it working again, of course.

As a repair shop, this is so frustrating! Sketchy shops like these give us ALL a bad name and only further damage our already struggling industry. So glad you were able to help them out.

I took a leap and went and bought a broken Sony 4k projector on eBay auction and tried to systematically fix it like how you do in your videos. Red light flash on start up and started tearing down. 100% it was someone who's literally never fixed anything, they got it open, found when they pushed on the socket it would kind of work, they taped it, claimed victory. They had it torn all apart so they thought they were supposed to throw some more thermal paste in there, like regreasing a bearing sort of, so the more the better.

After reading your posts regarding your health I'm glad to see that you decided to rock the bald. I've never been through anything similar so I can't say how I'd manage it but I certainly respect that you're not letting it define you and (I was gonna say getting back on the horse but it doesn't feel like you ever came off) punching on with work. I found your channel accidentally many years ago when I was trying my very first repair (a micro usb replacement for a nexus 7 tablet) and I'd be lying if I told you I wasn't cursing how easy you made everything look while I was in a mess of screws and solder. Thank you so much for your contributions to both my poor attempts to repair and the electronics repair category on RU-vid in general, Steve. I often see HDMI ports broken, especially in gaming consoles and other electronic devices. It feels like we're stuck in 2002 with these bulky, hard-to-plug-and-unplug ports, similar to USB 2.0. We need to move away from HDMI ports and either redesign them, like USB 3.0, to make them easier to use and less prone to damage, or eliminate them altogether and integrate HDMI functionality into USB 4.0.
@sMv-Afjal
@sMv-Afjal Месяц назад
That is not a easy thing to do, hdmi is in all device already. Display port could have replaced hdmi which also cost less than hdmi beacuse it is royalty free meanwhile hdmi isn't. A good mean time solution would be two hdmi or one extra display port
