Repair tear corded skirt

Large tear at back split. No fabric the same, so used a similar color, Vizaflex and lots of stitching.
This method can be used on most rips and tears in fabric. It is a longer video than normal, but I felt it needed to be this long to show and explain all of the method.

Over time I have learned so much from you but the cost of you doing this job must of far exceeded the cost of a new skirt. I cannot believe that the customer would really even wear it now. Why didn't she just get you to make a new skirt as you are obviously a really skilled needle woman. Undeniably, it's an excellent repair but still very visible. I hope to continue learning from your excellent tutorials.

Hi Elaine I only charged her $25. Which in the scheme of things is obviously a lot less than the time it took me. But she was a young girl, at school, loved the skirt, and at the end of the day I love to do what I do, and she was over the moon with the result. So why not give some joy to the world by doing some things for the fun of it.

Thank you for your reply. Your charge is very reasonable - some do charge by the hour. As I mentioned, I have learnt a lot from you and actually have only just started charging for repairs: because I love sewing, I just did it for nothing as it was mostly for friends but now I do make a small charge. I'm going to order your book from Amazon ASAP. Thank you again for sharing your knowledge. Can we get visoflex in the UK?

I am sure you can Elaine. Just google it or talk to your local fabric store owner. She will know what you mean. I have a minimum of $5 on repairs. That's Aussie dollars. So I think that is around half in pounds and shillings.
