I got a Bluetti AC200P for free that had issues with the BMS, and I attempted fixing the issues. I found a issue with the BMS temperature sensor that worked by adding a temperature sensor to a unused pad on the BMS board. I really didn't know what I was doing here, and tried changing plugs and connectors until I found something that worked. I wanted to get this information out there to know what might be the cause or if anyone else has this issue.
I find the fix very odd for this battery, and would love to have more information about what may have caused this and why my fix seems to work. Let me know if you got any clues or guesses.
Warning!!! There is a lot of power in these batteries, and it can do a lot of damage to a person is treated badly. Please don't go poking around in these devices if you don't know about the risks. Also Li-ion batteries can explode if treated badly, so make sure they are always within safe voltage and thermal limits, and the BMS is working correctly at all times.

I had a similar base problem with my AC50 after it stopped working from being caught in a downpour. After drying it out thoroughly for a few weeks, I opened it up to check for corrosion, etc. Got it to turn on and take a charge and charge some electronics from various ports. Yay! But when I put it back together, I must’ve pinched the NTC wire with the case and I only got the E05 error that no one had ever seen before and about which no understanding exists (apparently). I took it apart just now after watching this video, thinking I’d mess with the NTC wires and connectors and I found that the wire is completely split where it was pinched. Now I just need to find some way to splice those wires together - there’s very little available excess underneath the battery pack. But I was able to find the problem thanks to this video.

I had my AC200P pulled apart recently. It had a 030 "calibration failed" fault on startup, which rendered all outputs inoperative. After bringing the unit inside, it maraculously started working again and has "worked" ever since. Because the only thing I did was move the unit, I pulled it apart to check for loose connections, of which I found none. I did a discharge test and noticed one of the battery packs dropped to 2.8v before the unit shut down, while the rest of them were at 3.2v. A recharge and subsequent discharge test showed the same result. According to the display and multimeter readings, battery pack 11 was the culprit. The AC200P uses 160 26700 LIFEPo4 cells in a 16S 10P arrangement. I slow charged pack 11 to 3.2v through the balance wires to match the other packs using a hobby charger. Havent tried another discharge test yet...fingers crossed, but not overly confident.

I have an update to the "calibration failed" fault. The fault returned when all I did was move the location of my AC200P inside of my truck. The LH side of the unit was against the metal wall of my truck. I moved the unit a couple of inches from the wall and voila, the problem went away. It seems that Bluetti doesn't EMI shield the AC200P very well. I wonder if anyone else has had this problem.

On the bms maintenance page tap the upper left corner repeatedly, it should bring up diagnostics for the cells and show the individual voltages. It also shows the 4 different temps. A, B, D and P. mine are all showing 24C +- 2 degrees.
@ElectronicsWizardry
@ElectronicsWizardry 2 года назад
That works. Thanks so much for showing me that. I also see the reported temperatures for A B D and P. Do you know where these sensors are located? The reported temperatures I see now are a: 34 c b: 15c d:36c p:41c. When I get a chance I want to take the unit apart and play with the resistance and see how the reported temperatures are affected.

Thank you for doing that. My same unit just put that code up yesterday. I do have manuals and will be connecting to customer service. I'm scared my expensive unit isn't going to work or it'll cost me a lot of money to send in for repairs. i rely on this unit for work and cooking on the weekends in the cold weather. ugh Thank you for putting this on you tube. I hope i can come back and report more information and that Bluetti comes through for me and others with this issue. 🌻

I wish you luck fixing the issue. I unfortunately have had more issues with my unit and my fix stopped working. The bms seems to continue having weird errors like showing weird voltages for the battery cells. I have given up fixing the board and have just extracted the lifepo4 battery and am using it with a different inverter and solar charger.

Good luck with customer service and or repairs or returning the unit. The company is grossly unethical in honoring their product under warrantee and or just servicing. You are destin to throw your unit to the Gardbidge bin. You will never get anything from Bluetti !!! The only thing we can do is to get all of as together and file class action.

I have a Jackery 1500 and when I started having problems with the BMS, I called them and was told if it's under warranty they'll help me, otherwise no help. I even asked if I return it, would they repair it and I'd pay. Again I was told no. Finally I found out they only will swap out units in warranty and if it's one day after the warranty dies, you're SOL. These are all made now in China and there are "no" forms of repair here. No schematics or anything.
@pavel9652
@pavel9652 6 месяцев назад
Wow, this is lame move in my book. I expected I might have to pay for hypothetical repairs some time in the future, once the warranty is expired, but it might not be possible, just like your have described. We might have to rely on unauthorized repair shops, donor boards and salvaged parts. Similar problem have people trying to fix Apple outside of authorized support, at reasonable cost.
@briancclevenger
@briancclevenger 6 месяцев назад
@@pavel9652 I didn't think when you buy something that costs a lot of money, there would be no support outside of a warranty, but Jackery is now made in China since they sold out. So the in warranty method is refirb your unit in warranty but there is nothing here in the country to fix these. If I had the startup money, I'd start a repair shop for all of them. So far I've learned a lot since taking mine apart. It's coming back to life as I replace bad parts. I'll get it working but will I pay the money for a new one, maybe not knowing what I know now.

@@briancclevenger Jackery is more popular, so it makes sense. I got BlueTTI AC200max and 2xB300. I had researched an off-grid solar setup and when I was trying to locate components I found their power station and it checked all the boxes, plus the price was good. I wouldn't be able to do it cheaper with loose components, it wouldn't be plug and play, and the project would be time consuming. On the flip side I have three heavy and relatively complex bricks, and when they go wrong it might be tricky to fix them.

The same unit here, AC200P bought it to take to an off-grid vanilla farm in the Dominican Republic during some weekends. The first time it worked for part of the time but then went into 34 BMS Communication Error. Months later took it back and worked fine. The 3rd time was the charm. Never worked and was stuck in the same Error 34. Contacted Bluetti and said to return but not cost-effective to send it from the Caribbean. They suggested replugging some connectors, which I did and had no luck. Then I suggested I could remove and send the BMS, so they could fix and return it, but they said they did not offer that service. Anyway, the short of it is that I have a hefty paperweight. The question now is how ez is it to continue to go inside the unit to pull out the battery pack and at least get some money back? Definitely stay away from Bluetti!

I'd be very careful with the power that battery can put out. It can easily make lots of current and melt wires and create nasty shorts. I'd make sure all the exposed contacts are convered. Also get a good bms and breaker to cut off the battery in case if a over charge or or current situation. Other than that I'd just keep taking off the board until you have only the raw cells in their holder. You can reuse some parts like the 12v usb and wireless chargers if that's useful fornyou

I am interested in trying to get battery level voltages out of the unit. One of the main issues with the unit (even the ones that are working correctly) is that it wastes so much power to heat. I would like to bypass the ac inverter and dc to dc circuits and just get battery voltages out from after the BMS. I am not sure how much power the BMS wastes vs the the rest of the components such as HMI and controller boards. Would be a easy test if I was willing to void my warranty and break some clips.
@ElectronicsWizardry
@ElectronicsWizardry 2 года назад
It should be possible to get the battery voltages by connecting your wires to the large cable connecting the bms to the inverter board. I haven't tested this, but it should be possible in theory. One possible issue I see is the bms has a current monitor and might cause issues if the inverter power usage isn't the same. You would have to likely splice the cables coming from the bms or buy some of the connectors used. They look like xt60 connectors but Im not sure. It seems like you can get a splitter on amazon pretty cheaply, and then get a directly hookup of the ~50v from the battery. The bms alone should waste little power, as it seems to only have mosfetts and current shuts between the battery and the output connectors. The bms will disconnect the battery from the output if the battery isn't safe to charge or discharge. Since I felt almost no heat coming from the bms in my use, there likely isn't much power lost there.
@ernieschatz3783

The BMS still turns on with the XT90 connector disconnected from the inverter board. The only thing is that you will have 50+ volts DC at that connector, so you will have step that down using a DC to DC coverter, unless you just want to hookup a different inverter. Have you checked the parasitic draw with the AC output turned off? Just going straight to the to get "battery voltages" is not possible other than the 50+ volts I mentioned at the XT90. All of cells are spot welded together into one output. Pulling individual voltages through the balance leads would wouldnt provide enough current and would cause the BMS to fault out. The video author mentioned using XT60 adapters off of the BMS lead...okaaay, yeah let's just have 50+ vdc at all of the DC outlets. Not a good idea unless you like to watch things go poof! 😂

I run yesterday in fault code 41 -_> BMS Temperature Error, and I could not charge over ac ! I use the power-station in my sprinter-van. It was cold, but not under 32f / 0c. I heated the van up to 65f / 18c for over two hours, put some heat around the bluetti power-station, but nothing happens, it stayed in fault code 41. I canced / reset the falut code a couple time, still nothing.

It tooked a wile in my well heated house to get the bluetti going again. I had 27f in the Camper-Van, the Bluetti got to cold to charge. I heated theVan Interior for up to 65f for two hours, but the bluetti was still frozen. I put the power station over night in my heated house, in the morning everything worked again. So, the bms worked like it should to prevent charging damage. It is important, to keep the bluetti warm for charging.

It is almost 30kg of batteries in a plastic case and it will take time to warm them up. Maybe insulate it with styrofoam and mylar for the night and keep a small load, but I am not sure what would be sufficient. You can try to discharge unit as well, maybe make a tea with electric kettle. Alternatively take it with you to a warmer place.

Sure, I can help you with that. Here is a letter you can send to Bluetti Corp: Dear Bluetti Corp, I am writing to you today to remind you of the right to repair that California AC200P owners have under the Song-Beverly Warranty Act. This act guarantees that manufacturers will make repair facilities available for products that cost $50-$99.99 for 3 years, and for products that cost over $100 for 7 years. SB244 would apply to the same sets of products, with the same terms, but would end in 2024. In accordance with these laws, Bluetti must repair a manual that outlines repair procedures for the AC200P. This manual should include information on how to disassemble the product, how to identify and replace faulty components, and how to perform basic maintenance. I urge you to comply with these laws and provide AC200P owners with the repair manual they need. By doing so, you will be upholding the rights of your customers and ensuring that they can keep their products in good working order for many years to come. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, [Your Name] I hope this helps!
