Hi John, Thanks for sharing. I used many of your tips to repair a comb just like it. Did a great job (i think) but when trying to assemble its seems to have shrunk a bit. The reed plates seem to be 2 mm longer than the comb. Didn't leave out a hole when glueing, but that might indicate why its broke in the first place... do you have any experience with this phenomenal? I was think of soaking the comb in water so it might expand a bit, but guess that to be bad idea... if it works at all, when it dries, what will happen?

I wonder if I just use Titebond II and put waxed paper between the comb and reed plates and screw everything back together and let it dry if that'd work for the gluing process.

ok Hi there very good video, now what to do with no button on the end, does hohner have those?. My inherited harmonica is very old and stinky, I think I will pull it apart since it is dirty, can I immerse the comb in hydrogen peroxide for a minute? any more videos I can gleen info from? thank you

Thanks so much! Can you post info on the wooden jig. I need to repair/glue/finish a wooden comb on a 60 yr plus chromatic. (you're the best!)

Mark. as long as you keep the front face straight with a straight edge you can use any flat surface. give me a ring and i can send some pictures from my phone. It would be a lot easier.

In your opinión, Is it ok? 50 % and 50% of epoxic resin.

Nice job I bought a 64 chromatica professional model from Ebay just like your repair one and mine has broken in the exact places two breaks ,I notice the wind savers on one side of the brass plate there are like leather wind savers with rusty strip of metal running along the length of each one, They are nearly all rusty and some fell off, so I thought it best to remove the rest considering the condition of them. But my Question to you would be can these be replaced with the modern chromatic wind saver material they sell today?

yes replace with the new version. the leather ones are very old indeed.

@@johncook9040 Hi john thank you for advice, But in my haste to remove the leather wind savers and clean the reed plates I wanted to know on my particular model I told you I own is there a difference between the top reed plate and the bottom reed plates `I have forgot witch is the top one` and witch is the bottom .I can`t see a difference but I wonder if one is tuned different as when button is pushed in it plays the other notes, Also is it possible to tune the reed plate without the wind saver using your chromatic French tuner ive ordered from you or will i need to replace the wind savers on first be for tuning as they trap the air

@@piecetoyou8285 Yes they are different . long reeds to the left. The first blow reed is a C and the reed next to it is a D. If you find these notes then you have the top plate. The french tuner can be used with the windsavers off.

@@johncook9040 Brilliant Thank you again for the info really helpful, As this is my first repair on any of my chromonic and Diatonic harmonica`s I bought , Several of them in different keys `but love the sound on the chromatic, And as I hate to throw old items away when they look fit for the bin once opened up and see the state of them , I just the challenge in keeping the old stuff going, I just want to learn to play these instruments but as every one keeps saying on RU-vid you have to learn how to tune and clean your own Harmonica`s, So with the advice from knowledgeable persons like your self I seam to be getting there slowly, I know you repair these instruments so I am thankful that you are willing to give free advice,
