Dema, I'm so excited to see you doing videos again. You are a great teacher and tinkerer. I hate mechanical and electrical stuff. I will stick with wood :) Keep em coming!
I've been doing tool restorations and repairs now that I have a house (it's a lot cheaper than buying tools new), and working on electrical parts is so much fun ☺️
I have same laguna dust collector, first motor quit within first year got another it quit year later. Took them apart fixed the flaws like you did and have been running strong ever since. Must be quality control issues.
Yeah, this motor was not designed to have that impeller hang off of it like that. Wrong type of bearing. I'll be replacing the bearings again for sure in the near future.
Good job! I am not very mechanically inclined so when I do manage to fix something I want to tell the whole world. I really enjoyed your success. Best Wishes, Brendan.
Had a Laguna 3hp. Unit was a POS. Never again. Always lost suction, would bypass the filter and throw chips in the fine particle bin. All around shitty machine. Also had a Laguna jointer and same thing. I have a feeling the company is just churning out product relying on their name. Lessons learned.
Stubborn is smart - nothing I hate more than enlisting help from someone I have to pay. In the last month alone, I've replaced my AC condenser fan motor/cap, fixed the water heater by replacing thermostats/elements and replaced the thermal switch in an 8 mo old coffee maker. I got in big trouble at the time but who knew taking telephones and such apart 55+ years ago at age 7 would pay off some day?!?
