Sooner or later can happen that another surfer hits your surfboard by accident while riding a wave , damaging one or more spots. The ding should be immediately fixed or the blank would start absorbing water, leading to a discoloration and fiberglass delamination. Making a pro repair of your surfboard is crucial as it will preserve its structural integrity and aesthetics. When you sell or buy a second hand surfboard you wouldn't see all those awful repairs on it, would ya? In fact bad ding repairs make the worth of a surfboard drop significantly! Do never forget to use all the necessary safety equipment to protect yourself! This video clearly shows a step by step about how to make an outstanding ding repair of a damaged rail. If you have any question write them in the comments and please leave a like and subscribe to the channel to help me producing more contents like this. If you wanna become a pro shaper maybe take a look to the other videos posted on my channel. Stay safe, stay wet. Ercole Quondamatteo ( Quonda)

Thanks for the vid! What made you sand down to the point of needing filler rather than just enough so that you could just glass it without the need for filler? I’ve got a bunch of shatters on the rails of my longboard but not sure how how far to sand initially. Thanks again!

Hi Zac, i had to sand the fiberglass off at the beginning because it was delaminated from the blank. When you push everything gotta feel stiff otherwise you should remove the damaged part. The filler is needed to keep the repair light and I suggest you to make it quute thick so it won't run. Surely if you wanted you could just pour the resin in but you will waste too much material, it's very difficult to make the resin stay in the gap unless you made sort of a mold with the tape and then pour it in. The one you see is cellulose microfibers filler which works great with tints and pigments. I hope that I've answered your question. If you had more feel free to ask. Stay wet🤙
