The main winches on our rotator have been leaking gear oil, and we decided to tackle the repair ourselves. Watch as we go through step by step of the procedure to disassemble and repair one of the winches. With the proper tools and equipment, we were able to complete this repair within 6 hours.

It definitely was a much simpler design than I had thought it would be, and wasn't really a bad project other than dealing with the heavy weight of all the components.

All the work for a few O-Rings . I earned a good living all my life replacing o-rings and seals . Thanks for the video nice to see someone else doing the work .

Yes, lots of work just for a few inexpensive o-rings that were causing a big mess. We would have normally sent this out to have the repair completed, but the only place somewhat local was booked 6 weeks out. Turned out to be not as bad of a job as we anticipated, and we probably saved ourself quite a hefty repair bill.

Very smart--marking everything as you dis assemble. I always take stuff off one by one also and set it out exactly like it came out.

Great video was kind rude having to go outside to pull it and I would assume reinstall it! You would think that all of the winches would be built the same thus preventing the problems you had removing those bolts! The camera you were using was awesome hands free was good to see the shop again. Looking for more vids just had my knee replaced so I’ve got time to watch! Also tell Tad he can’t excape stardom! Take care everyone at WG till next time!

We think that the bolt issue was paint inside of the threads on the castings that should have been cleaned out before assembly at the factory. A little bit of heat from the torch on the head of the bolt and we were able to free them up. We then cleaned the threads up with a chaser tool.
