Will guides us through his step by step process of conducting roof ridge repairs. He shows you how to repair ridge tiles and begins with making sure the ridges are clear of any old muck and moss. After, he reveals the tools and materials needed for the roof repair, as well as how the cement should look. Watch for tips, tricks and further information on how to re-bed ridge tiles.
A huge thank you to our show sponsors, MKM Building Supplies. We highly recommend you check out their website for all your construction material needs!

Now that’s a proper craftsman at work. The hardest thing is finding somebody like you to do your own house. How do you know they are going to do a job as good as you have done? And how do you judge what is a fair price? Great video.

Hard graft but looks great finished. Just a couple of notes :- We always pre wet all areas of contact to create a good key to the Ridge n tiles, also a 50/50 mix sharp sand/building sand makes the mortar set really hard,. Enjoyed your vid. David

Will….You’re going to save me a fortune. Builders who did mine years ago used cement under the tiles that crumbles to dust when you touch it and they rendered over the top with point (Australian term maybe). Is there a way to colour the cement to a charcoal grey colour at all? Be safe up there. Your time making the vid is time saved for us. Appreciated so much mate (from Adelaide, South Australia).

Another quality job👍🏻. Done a fair bit of that over the years. The joints are playing up now so I leave it to the younger lads. Building sand is ok with tiles that are flat, but with tiles that have a heavy profile, you want to mix building and concrete sand 50/50, with a sand/cement ratio of 3:1. Stops it sagging between the profile and will still be there for many years to come😉

Is it possible to retro-fit a dry ridge system, in a circumstance like this ?
@brianhewitt8618
@brianhewitt8618 4 года назад
A standard dry ridge system doesn't really work well with that type of pan tile, you would still have to do a bed of mortar for it to seat on, you can get systems for this tile but in the situation shown, bed and point would be better and about the same amount of work.
@BuildWithAE
@BuildWithAE 4 года назад
I believe so. You can apply a dry ridge system to most roofs. A lot of new builds have the dry ridge system but the customer on this particular job wanted it looking the same as before. And I like to think I'm old school 😃 prefer mucking on the ridges, more skill involved. Take care!
