I think slicing the suit would damage it unless it was made of silicone or a material that could seal back together if sliced with a super sharp knife and with expert precision. Though, the only animatronics with a complete silicon coating are the Daycare Attendants and I don't think you would be able to approach either Sun or Moon with a scalpel without causing Moon to go into security mode. However it would make sense for P&S workers to have to make an incision in their suit to get at the metal paneling underneath. They'd have to shut down Sun and Moon first though. (Granted, I doubt they turned off their pain receptors cause those two are traumatized of Parts and Service. Since they aren't the main attractions, and are seen as creepy, there is speculation that the Daycare Attendants haven't been treated well by the staff. Afterall, I doubt Sun was programmed with anxiety and the way he's treated was probably the cause.)
