This tuner takes me right back! I used a 626 as an amp in my very early DJing days, as it was all I could afford. It ran really well for a couple of years until I completely upgraded to a Studiomaster rack mount amp and much bigger speakers. That little amp could drive my 12" speakers quite nicely! I only blew it up once... The driver transistors failed on one side.... Good job really as the output were special matched pairs, as I recall. Nice one, again Doz :)
Gosh, I'd forgotten all about Armstrong. My chemistry teacher had a Thorens TD125 and an Armstrong 525 driving a pair of Quad electrostatics. I was quite in awe back then (around 1970) as I wan't used to anything better then a Dansette. Nice work as usual, Doz.
We used to sell those in our shop. Never the most reliable products on the market but did sell well. Under rated heatsinks tended to get quite hot if I recall. The AM tuner had the MW and LW in one continuers band, never seen that before or since. Noisy mag input. Nice to see one again.
Great sounding receivers for being vintage and capacitor coupled. Not the most reliable design, there are a few popular mods for these online. Nicely fixed and presented too, as always. Excellent work.
