you are a life saver. i couldn't get windows to load for 3 days but this helped me repair it in no time at all. i will be sharing this with my computer class teacher.
Hey Mike your videos have helped me a ton load in the past but there is one problem i just cant get around! I installed an cracked version of windows 8.1 in my asus ul 50vt ( and old laptop i know!) it is 64 bit, 4gb ram, Core 2 duo, 500gb, Original windows is win 7 64 bit. i have the windows 7 installation disk. I was stuck in this windows repair loop so i turned off my comp and ever since then my windows has never been able to boot up!
Thank you very much for this video! After deleting the 'Hackintosh' partition on my PC, I wasn't able to boot into Win8 anymore. I guess the Bootloader was located there. The video from 28:12 to 31:10 helped me to fix my PC.
Thank You for a great and comprehensive video on the topic. I personally would have appreciated it even more if You had "pressed harder" (by repeating their "name" and putting it as text on screen "as often as possible") on the specific terminology" that M.S. uses for their "options". As I find that this is often where I "falter", by mixing up the often very similar terms I end up having problems "navigating" through the "option trees", and a "conceptionally simple task" becomes unnecessarily cumbersome. Any way thanks a lot. Best regards
Hey mike is there anyway I can contact yiuvi have a Asus desktop I created a recovery USB drive and it still won't let me restore my PC and it goes to a boot loop what I need to do
I used my windows 7 cd and mde cd the preferred option in boot but after windows loaded the files there would be a black screen with only a mouse cursor and it would stop there, i tried removing my hdd and used the windows 7 recovery cd, it would load the recovery start but since there is no hdd, no restore could happen! when i repeat the process with the hdd plugged inside the laptop, same black screen occurs
at 12 minutes on ur video my installation dvd windows 8 does not show the option "use a device" also in earlier part of ur vid my disc does not show "start-up options" either

Does any of the repair options remove virus and saves all my data on D,E,F drives. I dont have a cd. My laptop Lenovo flex 2-14 has preinstalled windows. I dont care about any programs installed on C drive.

so i downloaded seagate disc recovery and cloned it once i got it all reinstalled and updated and cleaned n defragged n now i just clone it back when it crashes which is every other day. th point in windows 8.1 stands for "piece of intentional non-working terrible-crap" that way windows can sell u support and a new dvd install disc
Hi Mike, I have an issue, I installed a window 8.1 update "Crucial update crap" and now my start up is stuck on a black screen with a flickering cursor.. I've removed all usbs.. restarted without gpu.. and don't have a system restore point.. im so annoyed any advice?
Sometimes, rarely fortunately, something can go wrong with an update. You'll likely need a USB Recovery Drive or install DVD so you can get into the repair options and run System Restore. Good luck
Please someone help! I have windows 8.1 it starts up then either says advanced options or just loads up and it all goes to black screen I did all that shift f8 all the esc alt decs and all that and I need my laptop for school):
My laptop will turn on but i see my lockscreen then when i go to the password entry screen its all blue and then goes back to the lockscreen. Anyone know how to help?
Hello, My laptop stopped working and every "solution" I found on internet doesn't work. It doesn't start, it's an endless loop in the boot screen ( blue window and the bubbles ) I tried refreshing but it says it's locked or protected. I tried fixing bcd, boot, and didn't work. I don't know other solutions... any idea? *also, this happened because I had to shut down ( holding power button) during a "maintenance" that took too long.
Richard Mumford Ouch, not good :( If it's saying the partitions are locked it could be secure boot doing its work. That's a common feature on Windows 8 PCs. Try going into the BIOS, looking for secure boot and temporarily disabling it (if you can). A very few won't disable then I'm afraid you'll be looking at a reinstall. You can do this non destructively though by choosing the Clean install option but NOT formatting the disk. This will move your current copy of Windows and, crucially, all your files, into a Windows.old folder. Good luck.
Mike Halsey This is the second time it happens, I have a windows.old folder already. First time I connected the HDD on another PC to rescue my files and reinstalled, it worked, but now I don't want to do that there must be a solution. I'll try the bios thing.
tried system restore four different times and i've still never seen it work always i get error saying system restore did not restore ur pc successfully
I think my harddrive is fucked up I habe to buy a new one.. I did as you said and it all failed I wish you had your hands on my computer so you could se how hard it is to fix this unless I purchase a new windows 8 copy and new HDD fck that I rather buy a new computer and dance all over this on Gateway NE51b18u
You can start the PC from a Recovery Drive or a Windows 8 installation DVD, can you borrow or download one? Look for my new creating Recovery Media in Windows 8.1 video, RU-vid won't let me place a link here.
No no no, you just don't understand, I can't make a recovery drive, I can't get on my computer, it always says that theres like an I/O error, or theres an option to try and restart again.
