I have custom built PC and shop from where I got it built had given me OEM version of win 8 SL (which later I upgraded to 8.1 free), Now I want to reset/clean install win 8.1, I cant do it since I dont have CD or create rec media, please advise. I do have OEM Key

Hi Mike Thanks for the stunning Video I've created the custom recovery image which includes all my programs installed the recimg /createimage c: efresh in the command prompt. I have copied this image to an external hard drive. How do I restore this specific custom recovery image - I can't find a way for windows recovery to select this image. Would really appreciate your feedback

hey my computer hp was going slow an ultimately froze to the point I had to hold the power down to cut it off. an then when it rebooted a light blue screen said I needed to recover my pc. I just bought a windows 8.1 recovery cd but it doesn't get me anywhere. I ran the program for recovery but the computer just restarts an I tried to redo windows but on the drive it says they're not in the correct order do it anyways? I put yes but it says error can't be done. anyone know if I can still use the cd, or have to get new hard drive an windows software?

My laptop Sony Vaio touch windows 8.1 - some system application probably crashed. Can't fix from any sort of back up system. Often ask before windows run, I need to use recovery media so & so. Have tried from Vai Care (Rescue Mode) few options there. Sometimes windows run & let me use PC. But sometimes windows doesn't run at all. Even when wind run & after I start using it within few seconds or minutes it will frozen and an regular or sometimes little bit different way error message will appeared like Critical_Process_Died or Kernel_Data_...... something.. Most of the cases, it will say then restart automatically & next things same things as forever loop. I believe totally recovery media things (which I don't understand much) has already crushed. I tried to follow this video but from 'search' option, I am sure I don't have "create a recovery drive" or anything like that at all (may be some how deleted or crashed). Then 2nd option tried to creat that manually as u suggested from "command prompt" after input data as u suggested on command box. It showed 1% complete then never finish. And within few minutes time error message appeared on command window. Now I would like to request you if you can help me out please. If I can use another computer as u said and of your video. What is the details or just briefly suggestions about that. What else i need to do with 2nd computer? How to create recovery things on 2nd computer with USB flash drive. & when I will successfully create the recovery media files from 2nd computer what to do with that USB flash drive with my affected PC. I tried to create this image in my external hard drive but it did not work out. The message displayed was: "The operation failed due to a device error encountered either the source or the destination. If the source or destination volume is on a disk, run CHKDSK/R on the source or destination volume, and then retry the operation. (0x8078012D) Additional Information: The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error. (0x8007045D)" How can I make this work? I just installed fresh W8.1, so I do not get why this happened.

I'm confused. I've also been to Lynda.com to understand this backup process. I also think this is the question many are wondering. Is there a way to backup the drive with all your apps already installed? If something happens to my computer, I would like to have a baseline with everything there and all I have to do is restore it. I don't care so much about my personal files. They are generally easy to copy over to a different drive. But all my 3rd party apps, settings etc I don't want to have to reapply. Is this possible?

I want to remove windows and install ubuntu. In the long future however, I might need to get back to my windows 8.1 and the files on it. So, can I uninstall ubuntu and then months later reinstall windows from the backup? is it possible to do a clean install just from the backup? my laptop came with Windows 8.1 pre-installed so I dont want to lose the original version.

I have Win 8.1. I tried to install iTunes last week as the administrator (the only account I have set up) and everything turned upside down for me. I ended up having a message: Failed to connect to a Windows Service. Another error message from iTunes said Error 7 (Windows error 193). Later I found out that iTunes is having problem with Win 8.1. I did a refresh but the problem exists. At this juncture, do I have a good pc to make a recovery media from? Thanks.

I have been thinking about refreshing Dell inspiron 15R laptop, but doing so means that all apps on the desktop will be deleted, like skype and possibly my virus protector. And I like and only use the desktop of my windows 8 laptop. Is there a way to restore my desktops apps without reinstalling, or does this video also help with the desktop too?

Got a Toshiba laptop win 8.1 ( Sucks). It will not let me change the proxy settings.It's set at lan setting use proxy server.I took the tic mark off and marked automatically detect settings and it reverts back to the lan setting as soon as I close it. This prevents me from getting on firefox which Sucks too. But its the wifes computer.Can you help me out?
