I have the 07 prototype and I feel the same ways as you and just actually submitted my feedback on it today! The other eye brushes I have loved though! Hi Michele - Thank you so much for such a detailed review on an up-and-coming makeup brush line! I have to tell you that I would not normally order anything with this much risk associated with the process - i.e. sending money to a company I never hear about to receive "high-quality" makeup brushes for only the cost of shipping. I really appreciate your brush reviews. I love that you give brushes a thorough workout before giving comments. You've never steered me wrong! I've been trying to decide between the Chikuhodo Z-1 and the MK-2 which have different hair length. But the Rephr powder brush looks really nice too. Decisions! Thank you. Love your look today.

My older Bobbi Brown brushes are mostly natural hair and they’ve lasted forever - they work well with BB eyeshadows that work well when you pat them on (which I do now that my eyes are more hooded than when I was younger). The website says synthetic now, so they must have changed without announcing it - I don’t think companies should charge the same or more for synthetic (just my opinion). I’ve been on a brush kick more so lately - bought Rephr for Black Friday - #30, which is the update for #6 (bigger than I’m used to but really nice and fluffy), #24 - love for buffing in blushes like Hourglass, #4, which I love for everything too. Also got some Sonia G for Beautylish. It’s helpful when you compare to other ones.

I am so glad you love them too! When I ordered them back in December it was still during their initial launch phase and everything was half off. It was so cheap I wasn't expecting such great quality haha. That new candle light shaped brush is really interesting. I have my own page on there was well but I don't have enough followers to be at the forefront of testing.🤷🏻‍♀️😂

Oh wow Michele were to start lol!! I’ve loved seeing you using these brushes in your most recent videos and they looked so good I just had to go and place an order using your link 🙈 lol!!! I requested the 07 prototype and then bought the discounted prototype S01 brush and I had to get the gorgeous 05 brush 😍 it looks divine! Such a great deal for me especially with free international shipping- I basically got the S01 brush free! Can’t wait to try this new line I love all my Japanese brushes. I’ve purchased a few of these brushes and I really like them! I like the 04 for contour and blush but now I’m eager to try the 05. I found that they clean up really well and that they keep soft after washing. I love creams products so I’m very happy that they are all cream friendly. I haven’t tried the prototypes because I figured you had to have a RU-vid channel.

Ooh- these look nice! I am a huge brush fanatic. I have every Sonia G and Wayne Goss and several Hakuhodo and Chikuhodo brushes. The 6 face brush reminds me of a Chikuhodo brush that I have- at first I wasn’t sure about the long bristles but it’s almost like a large powder puff in brush form (if that makes sense). I have come to like the shape for setting the face. I really like the #4 angled brush! That one really stands out for me. Thanks for the detailed review on these. I am going to try some for sure 💗

I use Smith Brushes, LOVE LOVE especially the Smith 253 it is Great for the crease and angular shadow application. My eyes are small and these brushes just fit for my eyes, Also use the 118 blush/powder and the 115 foundation. They are a little pricey but I have had some for years. Also Luxie sent out 4 brushes in a box boxie charm or something like that and they are perfect for my eyes. Great video!

Thank you so much for this in-depth review!! I had to sit on my hands a little bit, as I've just treated myself to a few new beautiful brushes, so I want to enjoy what I have right now. Perhaps in a few months I'll try these - would be aces if you could give a follow up in a couple of months as to how they're washing and wearing. Oh and I wondered how they might compare with similar Sonia G brushes? Also, just an overall thank you for spending so much time talking about quality brushes. For years I had brushes but didn't really know the difference between hair types, hair lengths, synthetic, natural... 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ was pretty much how I felt. But thanks to you (and honestly, largely you alone), I feel I have a lot more knowledge about the subtle and not so subtle differences between goat, squirrel, sable, synthetic, etc. So, so helpful - thank you!!

Woa you're so productive. Can I ask for your comparison of the angled cheek and powder brushes compared to the Surrat's equivalents? Also unrelated but can I ask what brush you find most suitable for the Chantecaille La Sirena Bronzer/Highlighter duo? My Tom Ford Bronzing Brush picks up plenty products but doesn't seem to apply it as well as when used with other bronzers, e.g. Hourglass or Burberry. Thank you very much.

Thai, I have and love the chantecaille duo, my favourite brush for the bronzer is my SURRATT face brush...flawless finish, just the way it hugs the face, hope that helps.

I have a cpl of their brushes & they are great! But besides that, they have the best customer service! I had an issue with a brush (which was a fluke) & the owner Tom responded to my e-mail in less than 5 min. Not only are they sending a replacement out immediately, but they actually wanted to know specifics on the brush so they can find the cause & make sure it never happens again.

The Zoeva 224 is similar to that 07 (but thinner). Always disliked it but I will try it under the eye socket bone like others have said they use it. My eyes are getting more hooded so thi method could be helpful!

I've been loving the prototype 7!! It's become my new favorite eye brush. I like the flat top for transition/ blown out crease work. But I do see how it wouldn't work for everyone

I tried checking if you uploaded but my search bar is giving me other people i was looking for your opinion. I did order the bronzer brush but wanted to hear your thoughts on it in case you done a video i don't have natural hair tf 05 to compare 😑 , 😃 thank you

I only got the #13 synthetic to try, and... it's ok. It's a nice brush, but I don't think it's any better or more special than my other synthetic blending brushes. So I didn't bother getting the others.

Ι think i heard from you first time about rephr, not sure though. I own some eye brushes from them, and now with 40%sale i wanna purchase some face ones too. Excellent brand related to quality-price. (Compared to Westman ateliers super expensive brushes which are so much alike, both in japan crafted, they are ridiculously cheaper...yet same performance!)

Can you do a video on how to properly use the brushes not necessary Rephr but a basic what brush do you use for putting on product. I am a novice when it comes to brushes and would like to know what shape is for applying blush, foundation, highlight and etc. A basic what you should look for when purchasing a brush and natural hair or synthetic, what is the difference? Hi Michele, I became brush obsessed along with you. I think about 40% of my conversations with new people are about brushes now🤣 But I don't mind being so influenced. You actually got me back into knitting too! I've been thinking how much I missed it and how irritated I am with the lack of actual wool clothing items in the stores every time you mention your job. Then my country started going through an energy crisis that everyone is pretty peeved about, which resulted in rolling blackouts. What better to do when there's no wifi than reacquaint myself with knitting💕

@@CharlisDailyDiary I'm from South Africa and the rolling blackouts are such a long story. We had them a few years ago but then they stopped because an alleged solution was found. We had them at the end of last year, but then the minister of public enterprises was like no this is bs, and told our national energy company that they weren't allowed to do them during the festive season. Now they've been back for 2 weeks, which has affected most businesses and is a political disaster. They promise there won't be any this week, but South Africans know to take anything and everything with a handful of salt, nevermind a pinch. We're used to drama being pretty regular(it's almost every week that something new is revealed), so most people are just very annoyed. South Africans are pretty unflappable in general as a result. The best solution is green energy, because, the coal plant they built is lowering the air quality in the capital and economic hub province and it's just bad for the environment. But the national energy company just won't listen and has too many corruption issues. And there are trade agreements that are not the best idea at play too. I could go on for ages, but I can tell you that my uncle worked very hard as a chartered accountant for the national energy company 2 decades ago(he left because had enough) and they weren't listening to the many requests for green renewable energy ( we have so much space and a great climate for solar) then. They still aren't listening now. But we make some very good merino yarns. Mohair too. I'm discovering lovely local yarn companies and I may become yarn obsessed soon. So that's the silver lining.

@@TheMicheleWang Thanks, I'm glad to be back at knitting. As for the rolling blackouts, (I can feel the entire country rolling their eyes with me before sighing and making do) well life goes on and we try to work around them. Thankfully it's still summer here.

Similar but not the same. The Rephr is a little smaller all around so the bristles are a little stiffer.

@@missreia MAC switched over to synthetics starting in early 2018. The numbers will have an "S" at the end of it, instead of 239, it is now 239S.

Michele, you’ve inspired me to up my brush game. Because of your videos I have invested in Sonia G and Wayne Goss. Most likely I’m to try these brushes too, but I’d love to know if this pencil is comparative to Sonia G’s Pencil pro. I need soft brushes on my lids and eyeballs.. Lol.

Is the brush that is shaped like a candle (highlighter brush) available by itself or was that a special prototype they sent you? I’ve been searching for a brush just like that! Thanks! That one is a prototype. But Wayne Goss's 00 brush is similar, just a little bigger. And the Sonia G. Inochige Pro is similar too, but that only comes in the Pro Face Set, which may be sold out at the moment.

Michele Wang that is the one I really want- the Inochige brush from SG.. I use powder very little except for some blush and very precise spot powdering but don’t really want a face full of powder because I think it isn’t as flattering. Thanks!

Hi Michele it appears you only use animal hair , I cannot use a brush from an animal so it’s a collection of real Techniques brushes which are all synthetic I find are best for me, yes it’s a personal choice ,

Those look very steardy i honestly wasn't a huge fan of the other company named royal nickel something the brushes look a bit flimsy a cheapish for my taste but maybe I'm just judging very hard lol. I did order the Wayne goss brush set and sonia g also the bloom palette I'm excited to receive my packages from beautylish 🤗

I've never tried the Royal brushes, but Mel Thompson seems to really like them! I'm a big fan of ESUM brushes - they have a nice line of natural-haired brushes that have worked very very well for me.
