Replacing the air filter in your BlueTEC Mercedes is quick and easy! This procedure covers the OM651 2.1L engine used in the E250, ML250/GLE300d & GLK250 BlueTEC models. Not applicable to Sprinter 4-cylinder models. www.idparts.com/
Thanks for this video. It helped me a lot (2016 GLE 300d). I found the rear airbox fastener on the right side almost impossible to access with the tools I have (I don't have the T-handle Torx wrench you used). On mine I had to remove the cabin air inlet duct and some of the plastic cowl just above the aft part of the ECU (2 screws). My airbox lid didn't swing up that far (the engine oil dipstick tube was in the way) and I had to remove the two screws on the front of the box to disengage the inlet tube from the filter before the filter would come out. The lower of those two inlet screws was a major pain. But I got it done - no fasteners lost and no extra fasteners left over. That's a WIN! :-) Thanks again for your help!
This is the correct method to change air filter, at least, on GLK250. Not like others who used a power tool to remove all screws on the filter housing to damage the threads.I recommend to put a little silicon grease on the filter gasket to make the installation/removal easier.
I Just changed my ML250 filter today, as someone mentioned, it's a bit further back in the engine bay, no need to remove the looms or ecu though. Just had to remove two pieces of plastic trim to access the rear two screws. Other than that all was the same. Ours was well overdue!! Thanks for the video!
Good video but on the 2016 GLE 300d as there is no access to the rear passenger side screw so you need to remove a couple more screws on the insulation by the fire wall and the intake for the cabin air filters. Very helpful thanks.
first time i removed the ECU. glad to see it works withouth removing the ECU. Will try. Which screwdriver / tool are you using ? Torx screws ? number ?
Great video thanks, do you have the hood up at the 45 degree angle or do you have it up in the service mode? I have a 2014 E250 bluetec, and it seems like the hood hinge i have doesnt have the special thing either on the hinge or the struts that allows it to go fully upright, is the 2014 a weird cross over year for the E class? Any ideas? thanks
ML250 air filter box position is a bit back towards the cabin. It is not possible to remove the filter box cover this way without removing a whole lot of plastic cover above it. The right way for ML250 is to remove the electronic box above the filter box first.
