Your finger oils will not affect an LED bulb. They barely affect the prior incandescent. The only bulb you have to be careful with oils with is halogen.
Purchased a GE microwave last year. Not sure why, but all the bulbs were incandescent. There was only one bulb for the underside cooktop - I replaced that with an LED (wish there was two bulbs there - looks like there was room for two but not cut out and wired for it. Going to get this bulb for the internal as well. - Thanks and good video.

@@DIYwithMichaelBorders oh..gosh I missed your morning Q&A..just posted . Yes, Thank you for that tip! I e known RU-vid is a good place to learn things but I guess that light was at the bottom of my priorities . We are trying to put some ‘lipstick on a pig’ w/several things we can’t afford to replace right now. I see various ways to sand repaint inside the micro …which makes me a bit nervous re; toxins….but higher on the priority list is sanding off some rust on the inside of the micro door and repainting it. I’ve seen people using various paints but would like to know for sure which one is safe re:toxins, should you know? (We “live Hawaii” and EVERYTHING RUSTS faster than usual. Curious that so many buy stainless steel appliances b/c those rust out pretty fast too, in the “rain forest” areas .)
@@DIYwithMichaelBorders hey..now I think maybe should run our other DIY past you? That useless bottom drawer under the oven…our had minor spots of rust -but still visible and unsightly m we intended to sand down and hit w/ as close a matching color Rustoleum spray . After sanding just a bit, hubs concluded it was going to need entirely stripped then base coat and color over that. He was think some chemical that might remove the enamel…but I checked w/ a sand blasting company who can do it. They’ve not done one before, it was more of an auto place, I think. I’ve always had a strong preference for off white appliances, which are hard to find, looked at white replacements but a basic Stove /oven here in white was over $850…IF we can get it. (everything shipped in not always available…did mention EVERYTHING is outrageously expensive here compared to mainland !?? That’s why we fix what we have!!)
@@50LOVESIT Thanks for the reply, we haven’t actually performed a repaint project on a microwave. Not sure if we will. We can’t give you a confident answer as to which paint to use.
@@50LOVESIT Thanks for the reply, off white is pretty & $850 is definitely cash you want to keep in your pocket. There are a few good paint removal products however when visiting your local hardware store, remind them that you need a product that will remove the outer clear coat layer as well.

Unplug it. Put towels over the range to catch the screws. Mine has 2 bulbs. One screw in each cover, cover swings open and stays on the microwave. Unscrew the old screw in the new. This is so powerful. LET THERE BE LIGHT. 😄

@@DIYwithMichaelBorders It only took removing two screws to get to the covering and have access to the bulb. The video was a great guide even if my microwave was different. 👍

@DIYwithMichaelBorders, did the plastic LED bulb melt or fried from microwave heating use? I am told LED bulbs only work safely from -4℉ to 130℉ operating temperature.

Great video but I have a problem: my Samsung microwave is built-in to the point that the top is flush with the cabinet frame. There is no way to access the screws. Any ideas? Thanks so much!
Thanks for watching, are you able to unscrew hardware on the front face panel/door and remove it. Removing door will hopefully help you gain access to additional internal panels which can be removed. You will have a few additional steps to gain access to lightbulb cavity.
